Caged and waiting to be eaten. Visited by the dead at nightfall. Asked to climb into the oven to clean it. The characters in The Green Inferno, Sinister 2, and The Visit are faced with horror of many forms, and while their scary situations are vastly different from one another, all of their stories can now be experienced on Blu-ray.
The Green Inferno: Hopeful for change, the student activists travel to the Amazon rainforest to save a tribe threatened by deforestation, only to be captured by the natives and placed on the menu. In The Green Inferno, Eli Roth exposes viewers to a palpable sense of primal fear, realistically placing his young cast of well-meaning characters in a horrifying “what if?” situation made all the more real by the filming location: a village deep in the jungles of Peru.

“No good deed goes unpunished.” Unless of course your good deed was waiting patiently for The Green Inferno to find distribution. I cannot tell you how excited I was to attend a screening last week and I was more than ready for possibly more gore than my stomach could handle.
In the film, Lorenza Izzo plays wide-eyed college freshman Justine, the daughter of a U.N. Ambassador and a young woman trying to find her place among international issues, protests, and hunger strikes. While roommate Kaycee (Sky Ferreira) is hip to the Bs surrounding the campus’ humanitarian group, Justine feels drawn to it. After being “shamed” at a group meeting for making a joke—shame being a common tool used among slacktivists—Justine can’t help but demand to participate in the group’s trip to the Peruvian jungle to protest the de-forestation and possible extermination of a local tribe.

You gotta love a guy who allows (hell, he probably wrote the copy!) for a movie to be sold as being from his “twisted mind.” Then again, when you’re Eli Roth and you make your living cranking out snuff films disguised as horror movies, there are worse ways to be described, I suppose. Check out the new trailer for his latest “The Green Inferno,” which finds a group of pretty American college students going to the Amazon to save the rain forest or some dumb shit like that. Their plane ends up crashing and the locals decide to snack on them. I think they call that ironic. Or tragic. Or one of those. Either way: Yummy! The flick stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, Aaron Burns, and Ignacia Allamand, and comes for dinner this September 5th.

North American distributor Open Road Films has debuted a second trailer for Eli Roth's The Green Inferno. The clip is very spoiler-ish as several environmental activists fight for their lives, in a remote jungle. It has been seven years since Roth has directed a horror title (Hostel II) and his latest deals with cannibals, in the Amazon. The film stars Lorenza Izzo (Aftershock), Ariel Levy, Sky Ferreira and Nicolás Martínez. The over two minute trailer is found below. Roth fans will know the story for his latest. But for others, several activists venture down into the jungles of Peru, to save the rainforest from development. They also hope to save a remote Amazonian tribe, who live there. Events take a strange turn when their plane goes down and the tribe takes a famished interest in the activists. Now, several environmentalists are on the menu! Horror fans might be better...

The takeaway here? Stay away from the Amazon. That, and don’t help people. It just gets you into trouble. And on their dinner table. As the dinner. Take a gander at the new poster for Eli Roth’s “The Green Inferno,” which “follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone… and that no good deed goes unpunished.” Like I said–helping people is just a pain in the ass. Written by Guillermo Amoedo and Roth, the film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, and Aaron Burns, and opens September 5th, most likely in limited release.

Aftershock was released to Blu-ray and DVD this week, and we were given the opportunity to submit questions to director Nicolás López. In our latest Q&A feature, Nicolás López talks about working with Eli Roth, practical effects, and his thoughts on The Green Inferno:
Now that Aftershock has seen a theatrical and VOD release in the Us, are you happy with how the movie has been received by horror fans?
Nicolás López: It’s very exciting to know that people from all around the world are watching the movie on VOD, DVD or…pirated, and being able to have a direct dialogue with the fans (and haters) on twitter and instagram (@nicolaslopez) is awesome. I love every reaction. Love or hate. I just want the people to watch the movie.

Eli Roth and Nicolás López’s thriller “Aftershock” will soon be out on DVD and Blu-ray Aug. 6. The film, directed by López and co-written by Roth, López and Guillermo Amoedo, has a very unique villain–it’s not a serial killer or spooky ghosts–it’s nature itself. Here’s more on “Aftershock”: “Chile has it all: gorgeous landscapes, smokin’ hot babes, cool dudes and the wildest parties. For an American tourist, nicknamed Gringo (Eli Roth) by his two Chilean pals Ariel (Ariel Levy) and Pollo (Nicolás Martínez), the trip has been heaven on earth-except that he just can’t hook up with the ladies. shockingly disastrous events that occur in the latter part of the film. Gringo (Eli Roth) has traveled from California to Chile to visit his friend, Ariel (Ariel Levy). Ariel's best friend Pollo (Nicolás Martínez) is one of the most connected people in the Chilean party scene, so Gringo finds himself bouncing from one hot party to the next. The three men have one mission: to hook up with the finest of Chilean ladies. On one fateful night, the three guys finally hit their stride with three beautiful women: Irina (Natasha Yarovenko), Kylie (Lorenza Izzo) and Monica (Andrea Osvárt). Everything is going fantastic, until the earthquake. This is when López's film rapidly transforms itself into the natural disaster film that you are probably expecting; but López actively avoids aping the genre, intent to comment upon its tropes and integrate as many horror elements as possible. López blurs the concept of the hero,...

*there are some spoilers here. Director: Nicolás López. Writers: Guillermo Amoedo, Nicolás López and Eli Roth. Cast: Lorenza Izzo, Nicolás Martínez, Eli Roth, Natasha Yarovenko, Ariel Levy and Andrea Osvárt. Aftershock is the latest horror title from Hostel creator Eli Roth. Roth even headlines this piece and Roth is one of three writers for the film. The story borrows from the many disaster films of the '70s. In films like The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and The Towering Inferno (1974): characters are introduced, a chaotic event takes place and the conclusion ends peacefully. This formula is mostly followed in Aftershock. Yet, the conclusion here is a lot more tragic. As well, the principal characters are lost by the beginning of Act 3, which is a strange choice. Aftershock still manages to remain entertaining despite a slow start. The story begins with three friends: Pollo (Nicolás Martínez), Gringo (Eli Roth) and Ariel (Ariel Levy...

Today horror fans everywhere should prepare to batten down the hatches for one helluva disaster flick hitting the big screen- Aftershock directed by Nicolás López and starring Eli Roth, Andrea Osvárt, Ariel Levy, Lorenza Izzo and Nicolás Martínez.
With a title like Aftershock you may think you know just what you’re in for with this story, but think again- as it turns out, humanity is far more dangerous than Mother Nature (at least in this case), and just when you think it cannot possibly get any worse for the film’s leads, López and his co-writers Roth and Guillermo Amoedo find new ways to screw with them.
Dread Central caught up with López, Roth and a few others during a recent press day to hear more about how a real earthquake in Chile inspired their story, the challenges of filming such an ambitious effects and action heavy project in South America and much more.

Nicolas López's Aftershock isn't a horror movie as much as it's a disaster movie filled with the kinds of horrors that take place in a real natural disaster - in this case the horrifying 6.2 aftershock that hit Chile in the summer of 2010 that prompted Lopez and Hostel creator Eli Roth to collaborate on a movie that explores horror from a very real place.
It follows as group of individuals, two connected locals and four tourists traveling through the Santiago, Chile travel and party scene, going from cemeteries to big dance parties and seeing the beautiful city. Although Eli Roth’s name is all over Nicolás López’s movie “Aftershock”, and the trailers open with him mouthing off about girls, I get the distinct impression that his character doesn’t actually last for very long in the movie. I mean, I don’t think he’s anywhere after the first minute of this new Red Band trailer. Or maybe I missed him in some of the scenes. Could be, could very well be. Anyways, you’ll be able to find out for yourself how long Roth’s character lasts when “Aftershock” opens on May 10th, 2013 (in limited release, in all likelihood), but until then, check out a new Red Band trailer for the flick. In Chile, a group of travelers who are in an underground nightclub when a massive earthquake hits quickly learn that reaching the surface is just the beginning of their nightmare. “Aftershock” also stars Andrea Osvárt,...

A new violent and bloody red-band trailer has been released for the Eli Roth produced earthquake horror thriller Aftershock. Roth not only produced the Nicolás López directed film, but he also co-wrote the film and stars in it, as well.
The story for the film was inspired by the Chilean earthquake, and it follows "a group of travelers who are in an underground nightclub in Chile when a massive earthquake hits." Their exciting night quickly turns into an insane nightmare when they leave the club to face a world of chaos and carnage. The city is destroyed, and the inmates from a nearby insane asylum are unleashed. It looks like a gory good time!
The movie also stars Andrea Osvárt, Ariel Levy, Nicolás Martínez, and Lorenza Izzo. Check out the red-band trailer and tell us what you think! Dimension Film will release the film on May 10th!

Watch the red band trailer for Radius TWC's Aftershock, starirng Eli Roth, Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy and Selena Gomez as well as Nicolás Martínez, Lorenza Izzo and Natasha Yarovenko. The only thing more terrifying than Mother Nature…is human nature. In the middle of a night of wild partying, a hapless American tourist (Roth) and his friends are suddenly plunged into a living hell when a powerful earthquake rips through the coastal town of Valparaíso, Chile. The film is written by Britan Oliver, Miguel Asensio and Roth, and opens in theaters on May 10th. We reviewed this at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival and gave it an above average 3/5 score.

“Chile has it all: gorgeous landscapes, smokin’- hot women, cool dudes, great wine, and the wildest parties. For a hapless American tourist, nicknamed Gringo (Eli Roth) by his two Chilean pals Ariel (Ariel Levy) and Pollo (Nicolás Martínez), the trip has been heaven on earth — except that he just can’t hook up with the ladies. Gringo’s luck seems to change when the group meets a trio of babes — Russian model Irina (Natasha Yarovenko), non-stop party girl Kylie (Lorenza Izzo) and her serious sister Monica (Andrea Osvárt) — who agree to accompany them on a trip to the coastal town of Valparaíso. Genre meisters Dimension Films have amped up the gore, screams and blatant girly perving in the latest red band trailer for Nicolas Lopez’s Aftershock. Produced by and featuring in a deliciously hammy role, Eli Roth, the film shares more than a passing resemblance to his debut feature, Hostel. Co-written by Roth and Guillermo Amoedo, Aftershock takes the tried and tested “gaggle of youngsters in an unknown environment” horror premise and plonks it amidst a Chilean earthquake.
This first look at the bloodier side of the story revs up the brutal violence which an unfortunate group of Americans suffer during a massive earthquake. Beginning with three lads out to get laid while on vacation, Roth lets rip with some sweet comedic delivery until mother nature decides to unleash her wrath on Chile. Cue a plethora of beheadings, bloody stumps, a frigging tsunami and of course a boatload of half-naked girls covered in blood.

"F&!#ing madhouse!" Dimension Films and Radius-twc have released a new red band trailer for Nicolás López's Aftershock, produced by and starring Eli Roth, a Chilean Earthquake horror-thriller. The first trailer for this hit late last year after the film played at some festivals, earning lukewarm reviews. One thing is for sure - it's packed full of gore and blood and violence, and this trailer gives us an extra hint at that. In addition to Roth, the cast includes Andrea Osvárt, Ariel Levy, Nicolás Martínez and Lorenza Izzo. This looks quite cheap and cheesy, but still crazy gory horror fun, if that's your kind of thing. Check it out! Here's the new red band trailer for Nicolás López's Aftershock, originally from IGN: Chilean director Nicolás López makes his American feature debut with Aftershock, a film he co-wrote with Guillermo Amoedo. Horror filmmaker Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) both...

Why can’t I learn from my own mistakes – whatever Eli Roth creates/directs himself is genius. Cabin Fever, Hostel, his Thanksgiving themed Grindhouse trailer, I just can’t get enough of his work. Whatever he produces and presents though doesn’t have the same track record for some reason. While the kung-fu B-Movie loving side of me admittedly dug The Man With The Iron Fists, The Last Exorcism didn’t strike my found footage fancy, and The Last Exorcism Part II I wish was never made. So how did Nicolás López’s natural disaster film Aftershock fare with Roth’s seal of approval? Ugh, here we go again.
Aftershock starts by following a group of three friends, two Chileans named Ariel (Ariel Levy) and Pollo (Nicolás Martínez) plus Ariel’s American friend Gringo (Eli Roth), as they party through the South American country. Visiting a slew of concerts and clubs,...

Here’s your first look at an image from Eli Roth’s “The Green Inferno”, the director’s first film since 2007′s “Hostel II”, though he’s produced, “presented”, co-written, and acted in plenty of movies in-between. His latest is “The Green Inferno”, and from the looks of this first image, things are bound to get bloody in the movie. Like, super duper bloody. And the plot to this gory tale of young Americans “gone native”? It reads thusly: Student activists from New York City travel to the remote jungles of Peru in order to stage a protest but instead encounter a tribe of cannibals. Well, that doesn’t sound good. The film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Sky Ferreira, Nicolás Martínez, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Aaron Burns, Magda Apanowicz, and Matías López. No release date yet, but look for it later this year, along with the Roth-produced/starring “Aftershock&#...

And now a very bloody first image from the film has been released. And Roth himself has released the official synopsis through his blog, telling us to ignore any others floating around online.

Despite the fact that Eli Roth is all over this trailer for “Aftershock” (onscreen and in the credits), the film is actually directed by one Nicolás López. The trailer is Sfw, but I get the feeling there’s a Red Band version coming along very soon. The film looks like a schlocky good time, with a bunch of clueless American tourists (are there any other kind?) getting stuck in a nightclub during an earth quake. Bad, right? Well, it gets worst when the prison next door also dumps its prisoners onto the streets. Uh oh. But hey, these kids are Americans, with American know-how, and plus, they have Eli Roth. I’m sure they’ll make it. (Probably.) After the first clip, which just showcases what happens to a trendy Chilean nightclub and its inhabitants when The Big One strikes, the first official trailer for Aftershock has arrived.
Co-written by and starring Eli Roth, the film which takes place in the wake of a deadly February 27th, 2010 Chilean earthquake, quickly turns into a bloody horror film in true Eli Roth fashion. Selena Gomez makes a cameo in this direct-to-dvd level fare, which also stars Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy, Nicolás Martínez, Lorenza Izzo and Natasha Yarovenko, respectively.
However, Nicolas Lopez makes his American feature film debut with Aftershock that he co-wrote with Guillermo Amoedo and is currently expected to arrive in Us theaters in 2013.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer for the natural disaster horror thriller that our pal Brad at RopeOfSilicon heavily criticized and called it ‘a travesty of a film’.

Chilean director Nicolás López makes his English language debut with horror/thriller, Aftershock, starring the legendary Eli Roth.
The film opens on Roth, an American, travelling through Chile with his two friends, Ariel (Ariel Levy) and Pollo (Nicolás Martínez); his local friends are taking him, the Gringo, around the country whilst he’s staying with them.
Starting out like a happy-go-lucky tale of their travels, seeing the sights in the day and partying through the night, things soon take a turn for the worse. After combining their all-male trio with an all-female trio, Monica (Andrea Osvárt), Kylie (Lorenza Izzo), and Irina (Natasha Yarovenko), they convince the girls to stay an extra night so that they can all go to an exclusive club night that Pollo has hooked them up for. (And it’s here that the young Selena Gomez has a great little cameo.)
But when the clock strikes 3:34 a.

Chile, 2012
For his ten-year anniversary of Cabin Fever going epidemic, the impossibly cool Eli Roth graciously returns to the Toronto International Film Festival as the producer, co-writer and star of Nicolás López’ sixth feature. Aftershock, seen here for the first time ever, had been on a back burner since Roth and Lopez hit it off at the latter’s debut premiere. The piece reportedly morphed from science fiction to natural disaster after many cast and crew members were involved in a mercifully lesser – yet still catastrophic, of course – version of the freshly screened event.
