Players is a romantic-comedy film directed by Trish Sie, from a screenplay by Whit Anderson. The Netflix original film follows the story of Mack, a sportswriter who mostly spends her time with her best friend trying to come up and execute new schemes for hooking up with strangers but when Mack finds Nick, she falls heads over heels for him and now instead of coming up with hook up schemes, Mack tries to be in a serious relationship. Well, Saturday Night Live wasted no time in tackling this week’s infamous Oscars slap.
In his opening monologue — which you can watch above — host and stand-up comic Jerrod Carmichael didn’t even have to say Will Smith’s name, or Chris Rock’s or the Oscars, but we all knew exactly what he was talking about. “I’m not gonna talk about it,” he began. “I’ve talked about it enough… You can’t make me talk about it.” But talk about it he did: “Can you believe it’s been six days?… Doesn’t it feel like it happened years ago?...
