Former President Donald Trump’s new joint fundraising agreement with the Republican National Committee (RNC) allows donations to the party to be funneled to his campaign and Pac to cover his legal expenses.
Under the arrangement, Republican donors will see a portion of their money go toward helping Trump pay off his staggering legal bills before they are used for the national and state parties during the election season.
The details of the joint fundraising agreement were mentioned in the fine print of an April 6 fundraiser invite.
This invitation mentions that donations to the joint fundraising committee, the Trump 47 Committee, will initially be used to give the maximum amount allowed under Federal Election Commission (Fec) guidelines to the Trump campaign.
The remaining money will go toward the maximum donation to the Save America Pac, and any money left will be granted to the RNC and state political parties.

Though he’s known today as one of Hong Kong’s most distinctive contemporary filmmakers, in the early 1990s Johnnie To was still a gun for hire. Having apprenticed for the region’s Tvb broadcasting network for most of the ’80s, he had only recently established himself as a reliable maker of action and comedy films. And chief among his early successes is 1993’s wuxia superhero film The Heroic Trio, which is at once indebted to his genre forebears in Hong Kong cinema and possessed of his own idiosyncratic skills.
Like so many wuxia classics, the film’s plot is at once unnecessarily convoluted and little more than justification for moving from one stunt set piece to the next. In the sewers beneath present-day Hong Kong’s bustling streets, an ancient court eunuch, Evil Master (Yen Shi-Kwan), abducts newborns of imperial blood and raises them as potential new emperors in...

Back in 1999, producers from Hong Kong and Japan had an idea of bringing together Leslie Cheung, then at the apogee of his career, and Takako Tokiwa, widely known as ‘Queen of Serial Drama' for her roles and awards on TV, in order to present a movie that moves between the romantic drama and the crime film, probably in an effort to capitalize in terms of commercial success. The result was not exactly masterful, but there are definitely enough elements here to make the movie worth watching. Let us take things from the beginning though.

Presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) told a reporter that he predicts if Donald Trump loses the Iowa caucuses or New Hampshire primary, he will “say it’s stolen no matter what.”
A reporter asked DeSantis, “Governor, do you expect the former president to accept the results, say, in Iowa or New Hampshire, given the unfounded claims about 2020?”
DeSantis replied, “If Trump loses, he will say it’s stolen no matter what, absolutely. He will try to delegitimize the results… He did that against Ted Cruz in 2016, and he will do that. I mean, even when like The Apprentice didn’t get an Emmy, he said it did. So I think I don’t think there’s been a single time he’s ever been in competition for something where he didn’t get it, where he’s accepted it. I don’t think he will do that.”

The Colorado Supreme Court ejected former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he had engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
“A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of the President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution,” read Tuesday’s opinion. “Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.”

Over hundreds of ‘Friends’ fans braved the rains in Manhattan to honour actor Mathew Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the sitcom, by gathering outside the iconic show’s apartments. According to Variety, people of all ages and backgrounds gathered on Sunday by the ‘Friends’ building in New York’s West Village to pay their respects to Perry and pose for pictures outside of the show’s iconic apartment.
Despite the dreary weather, dozens of flower bouquets and handmade signs with phrases like “the one where we all lost a friend” were piled on the southwest corner of Bedford and Grove near the cozy neighborhood restaurant The Little Owl.
“It feels strange to feel sad about it, but it really has been a sad morning,” said a 29-year-old fan, who brought flowers. “It’s been my comfort show since I can remember. I can’t imagine watching it now without feeling deep sadness.

More possible bad news for Donald Trump. Fresh evidence obtained by the Department of Justice points to the former president potentially obstructing justice in the case investigating his mishandling of classified documents, The Washington Post reported.
Per Post sources familiar with Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation, the new evidence comes from after May 2022, which is when Trump’s advisers received a subpoena demanding all classified documents in the former president’s possession be returned to the government. Federal investigators have obtained what the paper called “new and significant evidence...

Last week, YouTube TV finally unveiled its first attempt at allowing viewers to watch multiple feeds at once with the release of a Multiview beta test. The live TV streaming service had been promising something similar for years and has announced that its long-discussed Mosaic Mode will accompany the fall debut of NFL Sunday Ticket on the service.

The full scope of differences between Multiview and Mosaic Mode is not completely clear, but after being able to sample the new feature during the first weekend of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments, we have a few suggestions on how YouTube TV can improve the offering for future usage or to evolve into Mosaic Mode. Other than little things that vary by device and internet connection — like how long it takes for the audio to switch between highlighted games — our suggestions tend...

A victim of Covid 19, this Chinese New Year film missed its scheduled February date but it finally hit the cinemas in early September 2022. Premiered at the Udine Far East Film Festival in April garnering the Best Screenplay Award, it made its way to the 21st New York Asian Film Festival in July. However it did exceptionally well after its local release and took in over 77 millions and eventually became the 3rd highest-grossing domestic film in Hong Kong.

Jacky Cheung has been absent from the silver screen for a while now, with his last leading role coming in 2016 with “Heaven in the Dark” and his last action film coming a year before that with “Helios”. On the other hand, if there's one thing the late, great Benny Chan's swansong “Raging Fire” did, it rekindled Nicholas Tse's interest in action films. Both Cheung and Tse are back with action and will be seen in Herman Yau's upcoming “Customs Frontline”.
Plot details are still under wraps but the trailer promises an exciting narrative revolving around illegal arms smuggling that promises fists, guns and lots of explosives.
The stacked star-cast also includes Francis Ng, Karena Lam and Cya Liu. No official release date has been announced yet but it can be expected to release in the 2nd half of 2023.

The impact of George A. Romero’s Dead movies reached far and wide. After 1968’s Night of the Living Dead defined the modern zombie as we know it, 1978’s Dawn of the Dead kick-started zombie cinema in earnest. Not only did it herald a horde of undead movies domestically, the infection spread internationally — although the outbreak took longer to reach some regions than others.
While Italy was first to strike with Lucio Fulci’s Zombie in 1979, Hong Kong wouldn’t get its first zombie movie until two decades later. A zombie film set in a mall, 1998’s Bio Zombie is a direct descendant of Dawn of the Dead. It also draws influence from the original Resident Evil game (which is featured in the film), although the zombie comedy plays more like a Return of the Living Dead sequel by way of early Kevin Smith (think Clerks or Mallrats).

YouTube is turning its TV streaming service into a four-screen entertainment center. Some YouTube TV subscribers can now enable “multiview,” which will be a valuable aid for college basketball fans during March Madness.
Multiview is currently in early access. Subscribers can see if they have the option to enable the new feature by heading to the Top Picks For You shelf on YouTube TV. From there, certain streams will be available to watch in multiview mode. After building an array of up to four feeds, users can toggle between the audio tracks for their chosen streams. Individual feeds can also be expanded to fullscreen mode. Multiview is available on all devices that support YouTube TV.
Over the past few years, YouTube has experimented with split-screen formats across its array of apps. A Protocol report from August 2022 suggested that YouTube employees had discussed multiview in conversations with hardware partners.

YouTube TV Adds ‘Multiview’ Feature On Eve Of March Madness, With Eye Toward NFL Sunday Ticket Debut
YouTube TV is rolling out “multiview” streaming, enabling subscribers to view as many as four linear feeds simultaneously.
The viewing option will roll out gradually for a subset of the subscriber base, with all 5 million-plus subscribers gaining access “over the next several months,” the company said in a blog post.
Multiview allows audio and subtitling for pre-selected feeds to be switched by the viewer, and full-screen viewing can be selected at any time. The debut of the feature comes as the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments are tipping off this week. Set somewhere between a film about covid, a romance, and a realistic drama, “The Narrow Road” is actually a road movie into the lives of the poor during the pandemic, as much as a rather intriguing portrait of two people who try to survive against all odds, in an environment that seems to be as much against them as possible.

Considering the people involved in the movie, with Johnnie To directing, Anita Mui, Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung starring as the titular trio, and Anthony Wong as one of the key villains, and with a script that is filled with martial arts action plus a plethora of Catiii elements, one would expect that “The Heroic Trio” would be the quintessential Hk action film. However, a number of faults in the script and a couple of other issues prevent it from becoming so, although the entertainment it offers, at least for the most part, is undeniable.

Lockdown and New Year have something in common. They both bring family members closer (in any sense) and allow them – or force them – to share joys and pains. “Chilli Laugh Story” is the debut feature of young director Coba Cheng, who plays on this convenient communality, and sets this classic Lunar New Year comedy based on his own similar experience, in the Hong Kong community during the lockdown. Because of those same featured restrictions, the film couldn’t be released in cinemas for the New Year, but it is finally out now and also due to UK theatres these days.

After working together in the live-action version of “City Hunter”, Jackie Chan and Wong Jing had a falling out in which Chan went on to disown the film as well as attack Wong through the press. In return Wong, had a go at Chan through this action comedy starring Jacky Cheung as a fraud who is a cowardly womanizing action star dressed in a yellow jumpsuit. In addition, he also had a field day spoofing just about most if not all of the Hollywood’s action films imaginable.

Alex Law, one of Hong Kong’s most accomplished filmmakers died on Saturday. He was 69.
Law (aka Law Kai-yui) died in hospital with his life partner and long-time filmmaking partner Mabel Cheung by his side. The cause of death was not disclosed.
The pair often swapped roles in order to support each other’s efforts. Alex Law, the famed Hong Kong director and screenwriter behind Echoes of the Rainbow, Painted Faces and An Autumn’s Tale, has died. He was 69.
The South China Morning Post reported that Law died Sunday with director Mabel Cheung, his long-time partner and collaborator, by his side. In a double blow to Hong Kong’s cultural landscape, Law died on the same day as the influential novelist and prolific screenwriter Ni Kuang.
Along with Cheung, Law was responsible for creating some of the most enduring classics of Hong Kong cinema, including the Cheung-directed Migration Trilogy. The duo’s films were known for their realistic, and somewhat romantic, portrayals of their fellow Hongkongers, offering nuanced views of society as well as the diaspora and tapping into nostalgia for the time before the 1997 handover.

“I don’t really care about movies,” the man says, nervously wringing his hands together. “I used to…but not anymore. Maybe it’ll come back?” It’s not an uncommon sentiment to hear in the Year of Our Lord 2022. What makes that comment stand out, however, is that it’s being delivered by a French filmmaker who’s sitting on the set of his latest movie. He’s admitting this to the A-list American star he’s just met and has employed, at great expense, to play the lead in it.

‘The Heroic Mission’ is named and inspired by two titles of To’s films during the 90s: The Heroic Trio (1992) and The Mission (1998). The imagery of ‘hero’ created by To in most of his films represents a fated statement: ‘We all came with a mission’. Influenced by the film directors King Hu, Sam Peckinpah and Akira Kurosawa, To enjoyed his international breakthrough with a film noir signature and gangster films. To specialises in angling at different characters in daily life and portraying their inner struggles and conflicts between desire and making choices. To once said, ‘I can see two to three faces of a person.’ Three films have been selected in this programme and each tells a different story about heroism.
