“Chaos cooking is a thing that I think I’m still wrapping my brain around,” says Kristen Kish to “Top Chef” All-Star Marcel Vigneron in the latest episode of her after show “The Dish with Kish.” Vigneron defines it as “a blatant disregard for all the rules, and it’s specifically up to the chef to do whatever they want. Kind of like fusion, but fusion on steroids.” Watch Kish and Vigneron take on the unusual culinary trend above.
There were two challenges in this week’s “Chaos Cuisine” episode of “Top Chef,” but in both cases cakes were among the best dishes. Michelle Wallace won the Quickfire Challenge, which was to make a dessert highlighting dairy; her dish was a corn cake with mascarpone cheese, lemon zest and basil cream. Then Dan Jacobs was one of the top four chefs in the chaos cuisine Elimination Challenge with his seafood-topped funnel cake.

Charly Pierre won the “Top Chef” Quickfire Challenge in “Supper Club” where the cheftestants were tasked with putting their own spin on a sauce recipe from groundbreaking chef Carson Gulley. Pierre made a Creole sauce with a Haitian twist. So for “The Dish with Kish,” host Kristen Kish invited another Haitian chef, “Top Chef” All-Star Gregory Gourdet, to make his own variations of Creole sauce. Watch the after show above.

Gourdet competed twice on “Top Chef.” He was the runner-up in season 12 in Boston and then returned for “Top Chef: All-Stars” in season 17 in Los Angeles, where he finished fifth. “Would you ever do it again?” Kish asks him. “One more time,” he answers. “I’ve got one more season in me. “Top Chef” season 21, episode 4, “The Wright Way,” tasked the chefs with cooking meals inspired by the duality of Frank Lloyd Wright‘s architectural creations. Some were more successful than others, so guest judge Buddha Lo joined “Top Chef” host Kristen Kish for the latest episode of “The Dish with Kish” to show her what he would have made if he were in the contestants’ shoes. Watch the after show above.
Of course, Lo has been in the contestants’ shoes before. He won season 19 of the cooking competition. Then he was brought back for season 20 to face “Top Chef” champions and finalists from around the world, and he won that too. Known for his impeccable technical skill, he decided to make a dessert dish inspired by the round shapes of the Guggenheim Museum, which Wright designed. His “Neapolitan Guggenheim” was a chocolate filled tart with vanilla ice cream, strawberry sorbet and gold dusted tuiles,...

About half of the “Top Chef” contestants made variations of the same thing this week, “which is wild to me,” said Kristen Kish in the third episode of “The Dish with Kish,” which followed the “Top Chef” episode “Take it Cheesy” in which the cheftestants, naturally, made cheese dishes. But considering how many different ways there are to highlight cheese as an ingredient, it was surprising how many of them chose to make croquettes. So that’s what Kish did for her after show. Watch it above.

“I think you want to get a lot of flavor in as short an amount of time as possible,” says “Top Chef” season four champion Stephanie Izard during the first episode of “The Dish with Kish,” the new “Top Chef” after show (watch it above). Host Kristen Kish challenges Izard to make a dish using leftover ingredients just like the bottom three chefs did in the season premiere, “Chef’s Test,” before David Murphy was eliminated.

Wednesday’s season 21 premiere of Top Chef is a hard reset in a number of ways, most obvious among them being the new host. For the first time in 19 seasons and just as many years, it isn’t Padma Lakshmi gently but decisively telling an unlucky hopeful to pack their knives and go. It’s Kristen Kish.
The season 10 winner, initially kicked off the competition before fighting back to the finale on spin-off Last Chance Kitchen, emerged as an early and clear favorite to fill Padma’s shoes when she announced her exit last summer. Kish has been a familiar face to the franchise since her 2012 win, expanding her TV horizons by hosting the Netflix update of Iron Chef and National Geographic’s Restaurants at the End of the World. But those who tune in to the start of Top Chef‘s Wisconsin-set cycle will notice that Kish isn’t the only change.

When Top Chef makes its long-awaited return for its historic 21st season, it’ll be with a new host, chef and TV presenter Kristen Kish. You may not only recognize Kish from her shows on the Travel Channel, TruTV, and National Geographic but also as a former Top Chef competitor.
In fact, Kish won her season of the competition show, after first being eliminated in season 10 but then making a comeback in Last Chance Kitchen to ultimately beat out 23 other chefs. It’s an impressive resume, to say the least, and there’s arguably no one more qualified to take on the job of host and judge on Top Chef than someone who’s actually been through the gauntlet.
As great as it is to see Kish as the new face of Top Chef, some longtime fans might be left wondering why former host Padma Lakshmi decided to step down from the show.

After 20 seasons, “Top Chef” has gone through some significant changes. Most notably, former champion Kristen Kish replaces longtime host Padma Lakshmi for Season 21, which also introduces its first major twist — at least since the introduction of redemption with “Last Chance Kitchen” — to the overall gameplay in two decades.
“It was a great opportunity for us to take a look at what we’ve done for the first two decades and start thinking about the next two decades,” Ryan Flynn, SVP of Current Production for NBCUniversal Entertainment and Streaming, told IndieWire. “With Padma moving on, it really felt like a great exclamation point” on that period of the franchise.
With “Top Chef” Season 21, which sees Kish join returning judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons for the installment set in Wisconsin, there was an opportunity to “sort of shake the rhythm a little bit” and “challenge ourselves to step outside of the...

For Kristen Kish the opportunity to join “Top Chef” for season 21 as its new host happened quickly. “I flew to LA, had a series of meetings, and then a couple of weeks later I got a call that said, ‘You are “Top Chef” host,'” she explains. The long-running cooking competition series premieres Wednesday night, March 20, and it’s a year of change for the show. We chatted with Kish and her fellow judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons about what we can expect. Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Obviously we’ll miss Padma, and she made 19 amazing seasons with us,” Simmons says. Top Chef has a new host for the first time since its second season when Padma Lakshmi replaced Katie Lee Joel. For Season 21, Top Chef: Wisconsin, it’s Top Chef: Seattle alum Kristen Kish who’ll tell folks to “pack their knives and go.” But who is Kish? Though she might be familiar to superfans of the culinary competition show, here’s a breakdown of all the key details. How Is Kristen Kish Connected to the Top Chef Franchise? Kish was initially introduced to the Top Chef world as a Season 10 competitor in 2012, which she ultimately won. It wasn’t an easy path to victory for her, though, as she was initially eliminated during the “Restaurant Wars” episode. However, she won her way back into the main competition with five consecutive wins in Last Chance Kitchen against other eliminated participants. David Moir/Bravo Kish went head-to-head with Brooke Williamson in...

There are plenty of changes in Season 21 of Bravo’s foodie hit Top Chef, which opens with chefs from around the country headed to America’s Dairyland, Wisconsin. Viewers will not only be treated to the new locale and supersized installments but also a fresh host, as Kristen Kish (Top Chef Season 10 winner and host of National Geographic’s Restaurants at the End of the World) takes over for Padma Lakshmi, who left the show after 17 years. The Midwest is home for the Korean-born Kish, who was adopted and raised in Michigan and attended culinary school in Chicago. She knew she would be in her comfort zone in Milwaukee and Madison, where the majority of filming took place. “It kind of feels like a homecoming in more ways than one,” the chef says.
