It’s the final week of July and two more new horror movies are headed onto the big screen this weekend. They’ll have to compete with the #Barbenheimer phenomenon, but both new horror releases look to bring very different counter programming to the box office. One is the next rated “R” fright fest from A24, while the other is a horror-comedy built for families.
Here’s all the new horror releasing July 25– July 30, 2023!
For daily reminders about new horror releases, be sure to follow @HorrorCalendar.
First up, a tragedy leads two dysfunctional families to intertwine in disturbing ways in Screambox Exclusive Repulse, now streaming on the Bloody Disgusting-powered platform.
The bleak, brutal Czech film harkens back to boundary-pushing horror like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.
In the film, Kateřina and Robert raise their young daughter in a luxurious modern villa, but their family life can hardly be called harmonious.

Let’s firstly address the biggest question; is it vital to see 2020’s Ouija Shark before this sequel? Will the plot intricacies be lost on anybody who missed director Brett Kelly’s third shark-centric feature? Worry not, as a catch-up is offered in the opening moments courtesy of Anthony (writer/director/star John Migliore). Speaking through a mystical ball, the magician recaps the first film’s events where his daughter’s aquatic discovery of a Ouija board released the Ouija Shark onto the world before its banishment resulted in Anthony being trapped in hell.
The sequel journeys to the location of eternal damnation and brimstone, as Anthony pursues the eponymous shark to try and stop its rampage. Meanwhile, a rescue plan is being formed by his wife,...

After Ouija Shark made a splash with B-movie shark fans just over a year ago, Wild Eye Releasing has announced that the official sequel is currently filming with principal photography to be completed this year, promising to offer even more bizarre and inter-dimensional weirdness for fans than the first film.
A team up between Wild Eye Releasing and Survival Zombie Films, the Ouija Shark follow-up will see fan favorite John Migliore from the first film revive his shield-slinging shark fighter dad Anthony, as well as taking over directing duties for the film. Also reprising their roles from the original film are Kylie Gough (as Illyana) and Simon Wheeldon (as Caldura). Deborah Jayne Reilly Smith appears as a mysterious new character named Cressida.
Mike Trebilcock and Semetary Spawn will be providing the movie’s dramatic score as well as some new songs for the film. Says Migliore, who also penned the sequels’ script,...

Stars: Steph Goodwin, Kylie Gough, Robin Hodge, John Migliore, Amy Osborne, Christina Roman, Zoe Towne, Peter Whittaker | Written by David A. Lloyd | Directed by Scott Patrick (aka Brett Kelly)
Director Brett Kelly, under his Scott Patrick pseudonym, re-teams with writer David A. Lloyd for the duos Third shark movie – possibly the craziest of the three… Ouija Shark. Yes, Ouija Shark. As if we need Another supernatural shark movie after the brilliance (and no I’m Not being sarcastic) that was Griff Furst’s Ghost Shark.
With a title like Ouija Shark you’re either all in or you’re running a thousand miles in the other direction… so to try and convince you to watch this one, if it sounds like your idea of hell, would seem like folly. But I’m going to try!
