Las Vegas -- More than a few people have suggested to the producers of the Academy of Country Music Awards that they extend the broadcast delay for Sunday night's show – just in case.
With Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan co-hosting, everyone expects the unexpected – and several off-color, unscripted moments – as country music's biggest cut-ups collide on stage. A recent interview in Nashville with the two, who've given themselves the celebrity couple name "Bluke," veered wildly from a discussion of Bryan's unworthiness to host to crude jokes and Taylor Swift's fans.
"I would tell him to be prepared for the onslaught of hatred that will come from Taylor Swift's fan base if you say any sort of a joke or if she's any part of a punch line in the monologue," Shelton said when asked what advice he'd give Bryan. "By the way, you're getting all those jokes this year.

Most cars run on fuel. This one runs on blood.
So says the tagline of Hybrid, the latest horror title from G2 Pictures, which is out on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Vengeful vehicles that have their own evil motives - along with ordinary engines used as deadly weapons by human drivers - have long been part of the genre.
Hybrid is now hoping to refuel the concept, proclaiming 'the new generation of killer car movies is here'.
Directed by Eric Valette (One Missed Call) and starring Shannon Beckner (American Pie Presents: Beta House) and Oded Fehr (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns) Hybrid is described as "a suspense-filled thriller, boasting stunning special effects and fast-paced action." The Blu-ray includes full stereoscopic 3D as well as the DVD version.
The synopsis is as follows:

A group of mechanics, trapped in a garage overnight, must figure out a way to put a stop to a man-eating car before it makes mince meat of them.
Silly creature feature flick masquerading as a killer automobile flick. Super Hybrid doesn’t go for the gusto with its absurd storyline. It doesn’t play up to the absurdness of its premise. As a serious minded horror film, it doesn’t provide the requisite amount of thrills and chills, because the film is so repetitive in its proceedings that there isn’t any element of surprise or suspense as to what is going to happen. Super Hybrid might have been bearable if the film had moved along at a decent pace, but the pacing is so leaden that it leaves plenty of...

The tagline for Super Hybrid reads “Most cars run on fuel. This one runs on blood.” If any advertising execs are reading this, this writer would like to offer up some alternatives:
Driven…to kill!
This ain’t Cars. Or Cars 2.
They thought it was just a car. That was stupid of them.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, let’s talk Super Hybrid. Directed by Eric Valette (unfortunately best known for a frankly awful adaptation of Takashi Miike’s (!) One Missed Call), the mode of transportation featured prominently in the title is outfitted with predatory instincts, can shape shift at will, and has an outstanding hunger for man flesh (pardon the term, a killer car doesn’t swerve toward a gender – if only humanity was this enlightened). After gobbling up two teenagers (one of whom has recently gotten the number of what was probably...

Sometimes when I’m behind a particularly idiotic driver, I find myself wondering, in between shouted obscenities, if there’s even anyone at the wheel. Of course when I’m asking this, I’m imagining someone clipping their toenails or prattling away on their cell phone.
Obviously, the latest gossip about Jim-Bob is much more important than the two-ton hunk of steel that they’ve put on the road. Imagine, though, what if there wasn’t anyone in that driver’s seat at all. What if. . . the car was driving itself?
Sure, there are already movies with this premise, take Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive and Christine for example. Sentient cars aren’t a new concept. However, let’s take this notion a bit further: what if that car in front of you isn’t even a car at all?
Tilda (Shannon Beckner) is in a rut. She’s living with her unemployed,...

Director: Eric Valette.
Writer: Benjamin Carr.
Cast: Oded Fehr, Shannon Beckner and Ryan Kennedy.
Ah, the killer car horror sub-genre. Not since Stephen King's Christine and Maximum Overdrive have murderous cars been so fun. Benjamin Carr and Eric Valette's introduction to this genre puts the killer car film into the creature feature genre and the result is a Super Hybrid. This title releases on DVD August 23rd through Anchor Bay Entertainment and the film stars Oded Fehr (Resident Evil), Shannon Breckner (You are Here) and Ryan Kennedy ("Caprica"). Much like the film's title, Super Hybrid is one part female empowerment film and one part mindless entertainment.
A damaged car is brought back to a Chicago Police Department salvage yard for storage and later investigation. A tyrranical garage manager (Fehr) makes sure everyone is on the job, while he harrasses the cute secretary. Then, actress Breckner arrives as Tilda...

Coming to DVD on 8/23/2011 from Anchor Bay is the latest PG-13 horror film from 'One Missed Call' director Eric Valette. Super Hybrid stars a shape-shifting alien that, for unexplained reasons, can only morph into different cars. I know what you're thinking, but it's actually not as bad as it sounds. That's not to say it's good. It's kind of just there. It's not the worst straight-to-dvd, PG-13 CGI-fest I've ever seen, but that doesn't say much.
After a driver-less killer muscle car claims a few victims on the streets of Chicago, it's involved in a deadly traffic accident and is taken to a police impound garage. The mechanics on call soon realize that it has a mind of its own, but it's too late. They are trapped inside with, what we soon discover, is a ridiculous CG snake alien that morphs into different cars. It...

Some time ago, when it was still called Hybrid , we offered you an early preview of Eric Valette's latest film. It's now called Super Hybrid and distributor Anchor Bay has passed along an official trailer in anticipation of the film's August 23 release. Oded Fehr and Shannon Beckner find themselves up against a creature disguised as a car. You can say this vehicle is...more than meets the eye (groan).

Lovely Shannon Beckner (You Are Here) stars as Tilda, a mechanic in a Chicago police impound garage who is introduced to a strange car that’s been brought in following a deadly traffic accident. Released in France on November 25th 2009, "Une Affaire d'Etat" is a suspenseful, action-packed thriller in which three characters cross paths: a corrupt politician (André Dussolier), his henchman (Thierry Frémont), and a hard-boiled female cop (Rachida Brakni). Before you read the lead actress' interview, we'll start with the director, Eric Valette, maker of three other feature films. His first, "Maléfique", was a French production awarded by William Friedkin himself at the Gerardmer Fantastic Film Festival. The two others films were made in Hollywood: a remake of Takashi Miike's "One-Missed Call", released in the Us (unfortunately not the director's cut version) and "Hybrid" which involves a devilish car and another action queen (Shannon Beckner); there is still no release date scheduled for this film. In this exclusive interview, we focus on "Une Affaire d'Etat", Eric Valette's most personal work so far...
