- Father Frank (1892-1964) and mother Frances (1899-1970).
- Graduated high school in 1943 and then enrolled at City College of New York before being drafted by the United States Army.
- Received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and a Presidential Unit Citation for her service in World War II.
- Had three brothers, Al, Rocky and Joe, and four sisters.
- In 2014 he published "NUTS!: A 101st Airborne Division Machine Gunner at Bastogne".
- Had a son and two daughters.
- As part of the 75th anniversary commemoration of Operation Market Garden in September 2019, he was one of two veterans who participated in a parachute drop over North Brabant between Eerde and Schijndel.
- After serving in the United States Army during World War 2 he graduated from Wagner College on the G.I. Bill.
