Chris Cooling was raised on UHF reruns of shows like Star Trek and The Twilight Zone on a black and white 19 inch Admiral TV, long before the average household had home video and back when TV was ephemeral and you had to catch shows when they were on.
An utter TV and media nerd, as a boy he recorded TV theme songs on an audio cassette recorder, scoured TV reference books, and wrote his own episode guides to shows like Battlestar Galactica, Greatest American Hero and Wonder Woman, for his personal reference.
In middle school at 12, he wrote his first radio PSA which he recorded and which was aired for years on Houston radio.
His first job was at a movie theater, where he became the 'voice of the theater' for several years, which led to doing the theater's radio spots and stints at a couple of local radio stations in the early 90s.
Today, he produces Forgotten TV, a documentary podcast on short-lived TV shows and TV movies from the 70s/80s. His considerations on TV shows like Tales of the Gold Monkey, The Phoenix, AfterMASH, and Logan's Run are comprehensive and some have been called 'definitive documentaries' on these subjects. Several of these shows have revealed never before heard details about behind the scenes production.
