Wolverine is the only superhero to have a movie titled after his real name, 2017's "Logan," which we at /Film named the best "X-Men" movie. Somehow, I don't expect we'll ever be getting a Superman movie called "Clark" or a Batman film titled "Bruce." Wolverine's past is shrouded in mystery though; even he doesn't remember most of it. Is "Logan" even his real name? Yes — but it's complicated.
Wolverine was introduced without much context in 1974's "Incredible Hulk" #180 (by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe) when the Hulk makes his way to Canada and tangles with the local hero. Nothing was said about Wolverine's life outside his yellow costume, or if he even had one. When Wein was tasked with rebooting the X-Men in 1975, he reused Wolverine as part of the new line-up; since his introduction was so vague, it was easy to rewrite Wolverine into a mutant. Still, Wolverine remained mysterious,...

The Overwatch-like upcoming superhero game, Marvel Rivals, has a mouth-watering lineup that will allow fans to engage in their own Avengers: Secret Wars-like battles. It’s still in its early stages of development, according to NetEase’s Discord channel, but the details that have sprung out on the internet are sure to infuse the fans with some more excitement.
Many characters, including Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Loki, and more, were unveiled during the trailer NetEase dropped a month ago. Players received some character-reveal trailers later, of which the latest was centered around Hela. Nonetheless, there is another character that hasn’t been depicted officially, but fans already have queries about it.
Marvel Rivals Catching Fans Off Guard with This Character
No release date for the game has been provided yet.
Marvel movie fans might know Psylocke character from X-Men: Apocalypse as the woman running around with a pink psychic lasso and sword.

When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios regained the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Captain Britain may or may not fall into the latter category, but he's a character we've been waiting to see in the MCU for a long time.
We're pretty sure Brian Braddock has always belonged to Marvel Studios, with only his sister - Betsy Braddock - and a few mutant supporting players likely off-limits before the Disney/Fox merger.
Regardless, a new rumour shared by scooper @MyTimeToShineH claims that a Captain Britain TV series is in the works for Disney+. That's all we have to go on for now, though we'd be shocked if Marvel's MI13 and Excalibur comics don't influence what we see.
There's also no word on a premiere date or the heroes and villains who will take centre stage beyond Captain Britain.
The last significant update on Captain Britain came from Marvel Studios...

Wolverine Firsts
These are the building block issues that made up the character to be “The best there is…”
Oct-Nov 1974 Incredible Hulk #180-#181
Writer: Len Wein | Artist: Herb Trimpe | Inker: Jack Abel | Colourist: Glynnis Oliver | Letters: Artie Simek
So where did it all begin? Rather simply like a lot of decisions in comics it came from an idea to boost sales, Roy Thomas wanted to appeal more to Canadian readers. This seems like an odd statement as all the cover billing of him being Canadian didn’t occur till his full appearance in #181. As part of his creation in his role of art director John Romita Snr. was tasked with designing the look of Wolverine. As part of his design, he sketched out an unmasked Wolverine. It is easy to find online and shows a very different Wolverine. The eyes are there, but his hair is short and tidy. What...

This post contains spoilers for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
When an antagonist of the barely villain-of-the-week variety shows up at the beginning of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," everyone, including Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), thoroughly underestimates him. Known as The Spot (Jason Schwartzman), this comic supervillain attempts to steal a convenience store Atm but is quickly intercepted by Miles after being nearly beaten up by the store manager. As Spot's arrival coincides with Miles' adjustment as the only Spider-Man in Brooklyn, it is easy to mistake this rather hilarious sequence as a tongue-in-cheek attempt at lightening the mood — while The Spot is pretty goofy, things quickly take a more sinister turn after his true motivations are revealed.
It is easy to deduce why The Spot is initially mistaken as comic relief against the backdrop of the solemn events that fuel the film, as his brand of villainy seems innocuous, even endearing at first.

Lost in the shuffle of Marvel’s live action TV slate and its implications for the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe (like Doom being the secret bad guy of Loki Change My Mind) is the impending release of Marvel’s first animated series. What If…? follows the theme of the comic of the same name, which explores far-fetched alternate versions of big moments in Marvel history. As you can see from the show’s new trailer, things get very weird when you start messing with the sacred timeline.
The first season of the animated show is going to run for 10 episodes, but it seems we only got a look at four or five possible stories from the trailer. We’re going to try and take it one story at a time. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, take a look below:

Marvel Comics' "Fallen Angels" #4, available December 18, 2019 is written by Bryan Edward Hill and illustrated by Szymon Kudranski, with a cover by David Nakayama:
"...'Apoth' approaches. as the past of 'Psylocke' threatens her new team. her past continues to haunt her as she molds her companions into a fighting force. But can they take on the children of Apoth?..."
Originally presented as a 'precog' and then as a telepath, 'Psylocke' aka 'Betsy Braddock', initially had her mind placed in the body of the Japanese female ninja 'Kwannon', gaining many of Kwannon's martial arts skills and elements of her personality.
The character was created by writer Chris Claremont and illustrator Herb Trimpe in 1976, debuting in the Marvel's UK title "Captain Britain".
The character has been played by Meiling Melançon in the 2006 feature "X-Men: The Last Stand", and by Olivia Munn in the 2016 feature "X-Men: Apocalypse".

Iron Man 2020 launches in January from Dan Slott, Christos Gage, and Pete Woods.
Tony Stark: Iron Man has been hinting at two things for almost its entire run: something bad is going to happen to Tony, and the robots are coming for us. In 2020, Marvel is going to look at both outcomes with Iron Man 2020, the next step in the story Dan Slott has been telling with Tony since last year. Slott and Christos Gage (the incredible G.I. Joe: Cobra) are writing, with Pete Woods (Robin) on art duties.
The new series starts with Arno, Tony's brother, in the armor. Conveniently enough, Arno is Also the Iron Man from 2020 who went back in time to 1984's Machine Man #2. While there, he was mostly an amoral jerk, collecting bounties and generally smarming all over the place. He was, however, drawn by Herb Trimpe and Barry Windsor-Smith, so...

In 1866 David Livingston set out to find the source of The Nile. In 1924 George Mallory set out to conquer Everest. In 1936 Professor Jones fought of Nazis in a mission to find the Arc of The Covenant. Now in 2019 maybe, just maybe I’ll get my hands on my own Holy Grail. I am of course talking about Incredible Hulk #181. The debut issue of Wolverine! The best there is at what he does. Before I get into prices and all that stuff I want to talk a bit about how Wolverine came to be.
In 1974 Incredible Hulk writer Len Wein was looking to pit the green goliath against a new foe. Upon creating this new character he knew two things. Firstly he wanted him to be Canadian to increase sales north of the border. Secondly he wanted him to be a mutant, so potentially he could be used in future X-Men books.

A recent rumor has surfaced that Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) is directing a Captain Britain and The Black Knight film for Marvel Studios. The news comes from an inside source at Pinewood Studios that sent the following info to AICN:
"I work at various movie studios in the UK and have been situated at Pinewood for a few weeks, and I'm moving to Cardiff on a project soon. I haven't seen anything about this online anywhere, so I thought id send the info on to you: Space at Pinewood has been booked for November & December 2018 to hold auditions for a Marvel project called Captain Britain And The Black Knight. The name of the director booked in for all these dates is Guy Ritchie. Marvel seems to be moving fast with it to fill in the space left behind by Danny Boyle's aborted Bond 25. Everyone is excited...

There's no doubt that the landscape of modern-day comics (and, by extension, comic book film adaptations) would not be quite what it is today without Len Wein, who co-created two of the most intriguing characters in comic book history. It is with heavy hearts, then, that we share the news of the innovative writer and editor's passing at the age of 69.
The news of Wein's passing comes from multiple sources, including DC Comics and Variety. The cause of death has not been announced, but fans of Wein who keep up on his Twitter account know that he has been undergoing surgeries in recent years, including getting a new heart valve in 2016.
After Wein began writing for DC Comics in the late 1960s, there was no looking back, as he went on to make his mark on comic book history by co-creating Swamp Thing with Bernie Wrightson (who also passed away...

The McU has come a long way since its release of Iron Man in 2008. On the big and small screen we have seen the likes of The Avengers, Ant-Man, The Guardians of the Galaxy and other Marvel characters we grew up only seeing in comics and cartoons. One of the biggest hurdles that Marvel has had to overcome is the fact that they don't own the rights to all their characters including one of their most popular characters, Spider-Man. Thanks to a partnership between Sony and Marvel Studios, Spider-Man was featured in Captain America: Civil War and now Iron Man will be featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming. To talk about the upcoming Spider-Man film Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President and Amy Pascal, former Sony Pictures head, sat down with Stefan Pape of HeyUGuys. During the interview the topic of other characters being brought into the McU was brought up and an interesting name came up,...

This past weekend was the Big Apple Convention at New York City’s famed Hotel Pennsylvania. Fellow ComicMix columnist Molly Jackson joined me in attending this show as she has for the past four years now. Boy, time really does fly, huh?
The Big Apple Con is a show I’ve been going to for many years. For those of you who are unfamiliar, this is a con run by Mike “Carbo” Carbonaro who has had more close calls with retirement than Cher. I don’t *think* he was retiring this time, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, his shows tend to attach some big names from the old guard in comics like Jim Steranko and Ramona Fradon, as well as young up and comers like Mindy Indy and Stan Chou. In the past I’ve gotten to meet people like Herb Trimpe, who is no longer with us, George Pérez,...

Earlier this month, Marvel announced a new comic series called Monsters Unleashed. At the time, there were no details revealed about what this comic reboot would entail, but that's all changed now. Marvel Comics has offered details on this series and it sounds like a ton of fun!

“If there ever were a monster who stood 10 stories high or taller and created mayhem in the Marvel Universe over last several decades, they’re gonna be in the story.”

What happens when Godzilla comes to the Marvel Universe? Wonderful things, that's what.
Talk about a mash-up for the ages! In the glory days of the Bronze Age, Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, the star of a zillion rubber suited monster films, the greatest monster that ever flattened a city, arrived in the Marvel Universe. While this scenario would give filmgoers of today an aneurysm of pure joy, it was par for the course of the anything goes comic scene of the 1970s. But that doesn’t make it any less awesome that Godzilla met, fought, teamed up with, and terrified some of Marvel’s greatest icons.
One of the wackiest parts of this book is that even though Marvel lost the rights to Godzilla after the book was canceled, some of the characters introduced in the Godzilla, King of the Monsters comic (including Godzilla himself-sorta...

Set your nostalgia rays to the '80s. Some toy lines actually ended up as even better comic book series.
Comic book icons and heroes have been appearing on toy shelves since the days of Captain Action and Mego. But sometimes, toys that win the hearts and minds of kids of all ages are given their own comics, allowing toy fans to see their favorite bits of plastic in action by some of the best writers and artists in comics.
Many toys have graced the pages of comics over the years, including memorable curiosities like Sectaurs, Madballs, Visionaries, Go-Bots, and so many more, but there have been a few properties that have transcended their humble plastic roots to become the stuff of comic book legend.
Here are but a sampling:

Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War put Hulk front and center. We want more stories with the big green guy.
In the last few years, relatively obscure characters like Aquaman and Captain Marvel have had their shot on the big screen. Meanwhile, Hulk is still front and center in all the Avengers movies, whether is was his gladiatorial fun in Thor: Ragnarok or his scene-stealing turn in Avengers: Endgame.
But a new Hulk solo movie? It doesn't look good. It has been ten years since the last time Hulk headlined his own movie.
There are several reasons for this. Marvel shares distribution rights with Universal for any potential solo Hulk film which complicates things a little. Hey, if Marvel Studios and Sony can get together and deliver Peter Parker and the world of Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is not such a stretch to imagine...

Over the past week, the global comic community once again came together to pay tribute to artist Herb Trimpe, who sadly passed away at age 75. As a fan of the Incredible Hulk, my first exposure to Herb’s work was when I bought Marvel Treasury Edition #5 from Nostalgia and Comics in Birmingham.
It was first time I’d ever seen a large book that size, and being ten years old, it’s the biggest comic I ever saw! The book had reprints of Hulk stories by Bill Everett, Jack Kirby, Jim Starlin, and of course, Herb Trimpe.
The oversized format reprinted issues 139 and 141 which had Hulk facing off against illusions of various foes, and the latter had the first appearance of Doc Samson which features a great transformation scene of Banner transforming into Hulk and back. It still packs quite a wallop to this day.
It started off a personal...

Singer revealed that the Newsroom actress would play Betsy Braddock in the movie (presumably before the confusing and overcomplicated plot that saw her changed from a caucasian former supermodel to a Japanese ninja for no immediately obvious reason ). Apocalypse is currently in production for a summer 2016 release. The comic book's Psylocke was created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe for

In recent years, comics conventions have become less about the comics creators, who crafted (and continue to craft) the characters beloved by pop culture and more about celebrity guests. Yes, it is fun to get a picture made with your favorite Star Trek captain or Doctor Who companion, but from my personal experience as well as that of con-goers and the crowded nature of big shows like San Diego and New York Comic Con, it seems like the comics have been pushed aside for “geek culture” celebrities. Some conventions might as well take out the “comic” in “comic con”. However, some shows continue to put comics and creators first, and one of them is East Coast Comicon.
East Coast Comicon began as Asbury Park Comic Con and was held in 2012 at a converted bowling alley/rock club in Asbury Park, NJ. It was founded by independent comics creator Cliff Galbraith...

Pittsburgh Comicon: The Legends Panel
The Players:
Bill Sienkiewicz
-Classically trained painter known for his work at both DC and Marvel, particularly Elektra: Assassin. Sienkiewicz has won more awards than I can count (without taking off my shoes and socks at least)
Joe Rubinstein
-German-born artist most famous for inking the 1982 Wolverine series, as well as The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Holds the Guinness world record for inking more pencillers than any other inker in history.
Mike Grell
-Writer/Penciler/Inker/Editor, known for his work on Green Arrow, Warlord, and for helping Tony Stark expose himself to the public (…as Iron Man. Mind out of the gutter, people). Also owns an awesome hat.
Herb Trimpe
-The first artist to draw for Wolverine (Incredible Hulk #180/181). One of the most iconic artists of the Silver Age, he co-created nearly all of the characters introduced during his run on The Incredible Hulk.

n 1977 Marvel Comics published the very first Star Wars comic-book series. Now Marvel are re-presenting those original adventures in its over-sized Omnibus format with Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years collecting Star Wars (1977) #1-44 and Annual #1.
It’s the return of the Jedi to Marvel in an opening volume that begins with Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and ends with Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. In between, the rebels face a wealth of new perils — from space pirate Crimson Jack to the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, as well as a surprisingly svelte Jabba the Hut (one “t”). Luke goes back to Tatooine, Leia battles alone, Han and Chewie play the deadly Big Game, and Darth Vader hunts for answers! Revisit all your old favorites and discover some new ones! There’s no doubt, the Force is strong with this collection!

This is the time of year when the ComicMix crew starts to firm up our attendance at various comic conventions in the year ahead. It’s a frustrating process because there are a lot of shows and we can’t go to all the ones we’d like to attend.
It also makes me really angry.
Last year was the first in a long time that I went to a bunch of cons. It was fascinating and fun most of the time, but annoying at others. Twenty years after we started Friends of Lulu, there are still remarkably few women invited to be guests at the shows.
This is odd, because there are a lot of women working in the industry, and (capitalists take note) even more buying comics and tickets to cons. Wouldn’t show organizers like to demonstrate to this market segment that they are welcome and valued?...

October can mean only one thing in the Dallas, TX area for thousands of comic book, movie, and TV fans. It's time for the annual Dallas Fan Days event at the Irving Convention Center. Every year the geek gathering continues to grow with an ever-increasing variety of comic book writers and artists and media celebrities. 2013 looks to top all the past years and raise the bar for local conventions across all genres.
Dallas Fan Days once catered strictly to Star Wars and Star Trek fans. However, it continues to broaden its horizons by featuring guests this year from movies and TV shows like Arrow, Hellboy, Pacific Rim, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Friday the 13th, The Walking Dead, and Napoleon Dynamite to name a few. It's a guarantee that there's someone for any enthusiast of every genre to meet or see.
There are way too many guests to go into detail for each of them.

This was the first week in a while where I found myself wondering what the hell I’m supposed to be reviewing. I looked back at all the stuff I’d been doing for the column and realized that there aren’t a lot of books still surviving. On the one hand, I feel like I’ve accomplished something. Other hand, sometimes I wake up at night and I can swear I still smell their innocent blood.

Long before Agents of Shield, Cloak and Dagger, or Daredevil, Marvel tried to make its mark on TV...with mixed results.
Marvel TV shows, from the sorely missed Daredevil to Jessica Jones to Agents of Shield get themselves considerable critical acclaim on these days. But things didn't always go so smoothly for Marvel superheroes on the small screen. There have been plenty of attempts to capture Marvel's unique brand of superheroics on live action TV, and some worked better than others.
So here they are, from the iconic to the bizarre, the fairly and unfairly maligned...we present seven other attempts to bring Marvel superheroes to live-action via the small screen!
The Incredible Hulk
CBS: 1977-1982
It might be easy to forget that The Incredible Hulk, despite (or perhaps because of) the liberties it took with the source material, was one of the most successful superhero television shows of all time.

Number Two Strikes Again! Yes, can you believe it, Another round of issues whose assigned number is that of Two! Because They Came After Number One! Dinosaurs Attack! #2
Writer: Gary Gerani
Artist: Herb Trimpe & Earl Norem (cover & interior paintings)
Colorist: George Freeman
Publisher: Idw Comics
Price: $4
Dinosaurs Attack! is about as silly as a horror comic can get, and I mean that in the best way. The first issue was fun but also was weighed down with sci-fi melodrama intended to set up the absurd premise of malevolent dinosaurs literally teleporting on Earth’s surface and wreaking carnage. With this issue, the intriguing though convoluted exposition takes a backseat to what this whole series is really about: dino-driven ultraviolence.

Wolverine co-creator Len Wein has said that he has received more royalties from the Dark Knight trilogy than all the X-Men films combined.
The writer has earned more from his minor character Lucius Fox in Christopher Nolan's films than he has from the Canadian mutant, who has currently appeared in six films and starred in five of them.
Wein said that it is frustrating that he has not been credited for Hugh Jackman's character in 20th Century Fox's franchise.
"It's less frustrating for the characters I created at DC," he told the Los Angeles Times.
"Money comes with the anonymity, at least. I have contracts that guarantee me some small piece of the action. Lucius Fox has earned me a great deal more money than Wolverine ever has, although I will say that for the latest film Marvel did send me a nice cheque."

Welcome back, fellow sentinels of the sequential sublime, to Comic Execution, where I look at the big new releases of the week and either eviscerate them or shelter them tenderly beneath my black wings of hard earned love. Comics, man. You know how that saying goes; “It’s those you’re closest to that you feel strongest about.” Ain’t nothing gets me going like a magnificent story told through a medium as potentially robust as this one. Just don’t ask me for $4 of my precious dee-pees (it’s short for dead presidents, you greenhorn) and shovel me another tedious retelling of why nobody loves you. Spoiler; it’s because you’re boring.

This Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, a new comics and pop culture convention will debut in Washington, DC: Awesome Con! I’m super-excited about this, given that there hasn’t been a comic con in DC proper in lo, these many years since I have lived here. Okay, okay, maybe I exaggerate a bit. As it happens, there was a comic con here as recently as 2005. But it’s still been quite awhile. There are comic cons in the general area, yes, like the excellent Baltimore Comic Con, as well as cons in Richmond, and Annapolis; but for those of us who are Metro-dependent, those cons are not so easy to get to.
Now, finally, we’re getting a con right in the city, at the Washington Convention Center, a three minute walk from the Mt. Vernon Square metro station (or 11 minutes from McPherson Square or Metro Center stations, for orange/blue line folks). Yay!

Wolverine is Marvel’s most popular character after Spider-Man, and he’s everywhere. Hugh Jackman has played him in four X-Men films, one solo film, and is set to return for a solo film this summer along with X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014. In comics, Wolverine can be found in Savage Wolverine, the upcoming Wolverine book, and in multiple team books as he is a member of multiple X-Men and Avengers squads and X-Force. However, he was once not so ubiquitous. He began as stocky, impetuous Canadian costumed adventurer who guest-starred in Incredible Hulk 180-182 (1974) where he teams up with Hulk and then fights him. Wolverine’s co-creator Len Wein made him a member of his relaunch of the X-Men with new, international characters in Giant Size X-Men 1 (1975). Even thoughthe original design for Wolverine was created by John Romita Sr. and Herb Trimpe, Wolverine started to become the character...

Sunday July 15th is the last day of Comic-Con 2012, and most of us will be completely worn out looking like Spider-Man in the image above. Chances are he's asleep under that mask. Sunday has always been a cool down day for us, we kind of just try to relax a little bit more and enjoy it. That doesn't mean their isn't anything to see or do though!
We've got a Fringe screening and Q&A, Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 20th Anniversary, Sons of Anarchy, the annual Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical screening, and more! I've always wanted to go the Buffy musical sing-a-long, but am usually trying to leave San Diego before it starts.
Just a little reminder, we will be having our annual GeekTyrant meet up this year to meet our readers, which is something we always enjoy doing! That will take place on Wednesday night, and...

Warehouse 13, Syfy's highest rated original series, is concluding its third season tonight and according to Eddie McClintock, "They've really raised the stakes for the last two episodes." W13's affable male lead answered questions last week about tonight's two-hour finale and TV Over Mind joined the fun. Already renewed for a fourth season and with its first spinoff in the works, Eddie assures fans that this year's finale will be very different than last season's controversial ender. "Last year's cliffhanger to me wasn't really a cliffhanger. To me a cliffhanger is like, the damsel is tied to the railroad tracks, the train's coming, the guy's racing to get there, 'What's going to happen next,' not, 'Oh no, one of the characters left.' It kind of ticked a lot of people off. I remember getting a lot of twitters about, 'I'm not going to watch the show if...
