With Disney’s ‘Donald Duck’ turning 90 this year and Marvel’s ‘Wolverine’ turning 50, Marvel Comics new one-shot ‘mash-up’ title, “Marvel & Disney: What If...? Donald Duck Became Wolverine” #1, available July 31, 2024, is written by Luca Barbieri and illustrated by Giada Perissinotto, with covers by Perissinotto, Ron Lim, Peach Momoko and Phil Noto:
‘…travel to the near future where chaos rules as ‘Pete’-‘Skull’ transforms ‘Duckburg’ into a super-hero-less wasteland. Only ‘Old Donald Duck’ can turn the tide, but he's given up his battling days and prefers naps and his grandma's apple pie over fighting villains.
“But when ‘Mickey’-‘Hawkeye’ comes knocking at the door with ‘Goofy’-‘Hulk’ at his side, ‘Wolverine-Donald’ has to make a choice! Will a trip down memory lane change his mind to save the world?
“Or will the lure of the backyard hammock and a long nap keep him from popping his claws one last time?...

“Don’t presume you know everything.” For decades, that was actor Paul Reiser’s response whenever people would ask him about playing Burke, the Weyland-Yutani middle-manager who tried to kill the heroes of Aliens to please his bosses.
Since the release of the James Cameron classic in 1986, viewers have taken Ripley’s summation of the situation to heart. “You know, Burke, I don’t know which species is worse,” she tells him after escaping from a trap he set to infect her and the child Newt with a Xenomorph. “You don’t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage.”
And yet, almost 40 years later, Reiser still insists that Burke isn’t the villain he seems. When Den of Geek catches up with the actor and comedian, he shares his rejoinder to those who called Burke a bad guy. “You say ‘bad,’ I say ‘misunderstood.'” In a...

Tomorrow, "The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic (Volume One)" by Kristin Baver (with a foreword by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy) hits newsstands. "The High Republic" was unique among Disney's "Star Wars" publishing goals in that they brought in artists like Ian McCaig to do a blue sky development phase with a whole writing team. It's not something that's been done before, and this book documents a lot of the iteration and thought behind the visuals we've been seeing across the program. It was a useful tool to unite the writers and comic book artists into a single vision as they told their stories. It's also served to create a cohesion in design for readers, allowing us to have a unified view of what we were supposed to imagine in a universe as concerned with canon and accuracy as the entirety of "Star Wars."

And then multiple variants of Jessica turn up!

This is one of those books that knew it would be taking our money from the very start. Firstly, its multiverse stuff. That’s gold at the moment. Secondly, it’s got everyone’s favourite bad girl Jessica Jones as the star. I suspect we’ll be seeing her show up on Disney Plus in the not-too-distant future, so Marvel have a lot invested in her, and this book is a decent start. Lastly, what a great creative team. Gail Simone, who has never met a female character she can’t write the hell out of, and Phil Noto, who uses such beautifully clean lines in his art. This is a triple home run in theory, but is it in practice?
So, the main premise here is going to be seeing Jessica Jones through a prism of multiple universes.

"Everyone's got a reason to go after 'Nautolan'. 'Bossk, 'Boba Fett' and a slew of new characters are hot on Lash's trail. Can Valance get to her first? And what could have possibly made Lash break her word and betray her fellow hunters?..."

Marvel announced the first major crossover of Jonathan Hickman’s Dawn of X era of X-Men. X of Swords will tie all the X-titles together in a ’90s throwback, 15-part crossover touching every single book in the line.
“One of the cool things we are able to do now, because we’ve established the X-line and really know where we’re going, is that we’re able to try some different things out,” Hickman said in a statement. “X of Swords will be an old school crossover that meanders through the entire line. It’s almost like chapters of a story.”
Hickman, you’ll recall, reinvigorated the X-Men line with House of X and Powers of X. And like Powers of X, X of Swords is using the Roman numeral X as a sort of low-nerdy double entendre. Where Powers of X examined four time periods of exponential scales, X...

For fans eager to fill in the gaps in storytelling left by J.J. Abrams’ 2019 film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the wait is over. According to StarWars.com, by way of The Film Stage, a forthcoming comic-book adaptation of the film, which concluded the Skywalker Saga in December last year, will recreate the film through panel illustrations, but it will also include deleted and extended scenes left out of the hit movie.
“I think one of the great things about adaptations in other mediums is you do get the chance to build out elements of the story there may not have been time or a place for on the screen,” said the comic’s writer, Jody Houser. “Giving light to new scenes gives the creators in these other mediums a chance to add to the story, rather than just translating it for the page.”

While Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker will be part of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, reportedly as a Force Ghost, the character is also cropping up in other Star Wars media. The officially-licensed Star Wars comics from Marvel have provided extensive backstory and fillers to explain gaps between different parts of the saga, giving fans some intriguing connections between characters and existing movies. And a new issue of the comics series will continue this approach by linking Luke to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The plot, which you can see in Star Wars #71, takes place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Luke is part of a Rebel mission to find a new base, and is trying to throw off the Empire by travelling to Sergia, an Inner Rim world. During his time on the planet, Luke meets Warba, a junker with some Force sensitivity, who...

Marvel's Star Wars comic is coming to an end in November, but you probably shouldn't be too worried about that.
As revealed in Marvel Comics' November solicitations, the publisher's main Star Wars book is coming to an end with issue #75, which will also conclude the current "Rebels and Rogues" storyline by Greg Pak and Phil Noto. Since its launch in January 2015, with an issue that sold 1 million copies, Star Wars has been the flagship book of Marvel's line of comics set in the galaxy far, far away.
You shouldn't be too worried about the end of the book, though. For one thing, Marvel loves publishing brand-new first issues whenever it can to boost sales. That's likely what's happening here since the cancellation is so close to the release of The Rise of Skywalker in December. What better way to capitalize on the release of the...

Under the Marvel banner, it appears Star Wars fans will be given a fight that they may not have necessarily known they needed. As far as longed-for battles go, Chewbacca and Darth Vader may not have been high up on your list, but now that it’s been spoken into existence, it sounds like a pretty kickass idea.
And now that you’ve heard it, you can prepare to experience the matchup later this fall once Star Wars #74 releases.
In terms of practicality – while you can’t really say the grounds on which walking fuzz-balls and Sith Lords are really practical – a hand-to-hand fight with Darth Vador doesn’t sound like the best idea for the Millenium Falcon’s co-pilot. But a quick look at the cover for the upcoming issue indicates that this is exactly what’s going to happen come November.

Though he bit the bullet in 2017’s The Last Jedi, Supreme Leader Snoke remains a constant point of fascination among the Star Wars faithful.
Mostly because Rian Johnson ensured Snoke was cloaked in a thick veil of secrecy, so that, when Episode VIII pulled the old bait-and-switch, and Kylo Ren turned against his former master, moviegoers were genuinely surprised.
There is, however, a number of criticisms that Supreme Leader Snoke – and, by effect, his murky backstory – was tossed to one side during the throes of The Last Jedi, leaving the Star Wars fanbase wanting a little more context for a figure who quite literally towered over every other character in the Sequel Saga.
Well, it seems your prayers have been answered (kind of), as the Powers That Be have decided to release a Snoke comic entitled Star Wars: Age of Resistance – Supreme Leader Snoke #1.

A lot of Star Wars fans felt they were cheated when J.J. Abrams built up this sinister villain Supreme Leader Snoke, only to have Rian Johnson kill him off before we really ever learned anything about him or who he was. The character is still shrouded in mystery.
Well, for those of you looking for answers to your Snoke questions, his backstory and history will be explored in a new comic series coming from Marvel called Star Wars: Age of Resistance. There will be four issues to this limited series, and one of them will directly focus on Snoke. They other three will focus on Rey, Kylo Ren, and Rose Tico.
The Snoke story will focus on Snoke's relationship with Kylo Ren after he managed to lure him away from Luke Skywalker’s training and bring him into the Dark Side. Here are the details that were shared:

It's the biggest team up you can imagine when Wonder Woman and Giganta get together.
For most comic books, the biggest draw for a comic book is the title character or team, with the writer and penciller being close behind in driving readers to a book - Batman is usually going to sell a bunch regardless of who's working on it, whereas Conan isn't going to move anyone's needle without someone of Jason Aaron's caliber working on it. So please understand that I recognize how out of the ordinary what I'm about to say is:
You should read Wonder Woman #66 for Mick Gray's inks and Romulo Fajardo's colors.
The two job titles are moving in different directions in today's comics industry. We've been known to get on one about colorists in the past, so it's probably no surprise that we're big fans of the work Romulo...

Daredevil may be ready to kick ass and take names on the third season of his Netflix TV series, but in the pages of Marvel Comics, Matt Murdock is about to die. Over the past few years, Marvel has had success with both the death of Captain America and the death of Wolverine, and now it’s Daredevil’s turn to leave this mortal coil.
The death of Matt Murdock has been hinted at in the current Daredevil series written by Charles Soule, but it looks like Marvel is committing to putting Dd six feet under. Soule is no stranger to killing off iconic Marvel character, as as the writer was also responsible for the Death of Wolverine story from a few years ago.

Last week brought the news that fan favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett is the next Star Wars character to get his own solo spinoff movie, with Logan director James Mangold and Star Wars Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg providing the script. Fans haven’t wasted any time in picking their ideal candidate to resurrect the Mandalorian assassin, either, as Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has become one of the top choices.
The reasons why Waititi would be a great pick are pretty obvious. Apart from his boundless charisma, the prequels previously established that Boba Fett’s portrayed by Maori actors, as New Zealand-born Daniel Logan played the role as a child in Attack of the Clones, the first time Fett’s face was revealed. What’s more, he would also look the part.

If you're a fan of Ghost Rider, I've got some great news for you! Marvel Comics has announced a new series from comic book writer Christopher Sebela (Captain Marvel, Demonic) called Damnation: Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider. He made the announcement on Twitter and also revealed the first piece of badass art. That art comes from Phil Noto (Batgirl, Star Wars: Poe Dameron), who will be working on the series with Sebela. I love Noto's work and I can't wait to see more! This is what the announcement said:
"Oh hey, I guess I can tell you that I'm writing Damnation: Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider #1 and @philnoto is drawing it and life is weird."
I suspect this series is going to be strange and twisted because that's the kind of stuff that Sebela does. Apparently, he lived in a haunted clown motel for 30 days and wrote a book based on his experience.
