Punk veterans Rancid have dropped “Devil in Disguise,” the latest single from their forthcoming album, Tomorrow Never Comes, out June 2nd via Epitaph.
The new song, which follows the album’s title track released last month, features galloping drums and a sing-along chorus in which Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen team up for the refrain: “Beware who’s around you hiding in plain sight / Beware who’s around you in the broad daylight.” And in typical Rancid style, the track clocks in at bite-sized punk duration of two minutes.
Tomorrow Never Comes marks the band’s first album in six years, following 2017’s Trouble Maker. The new LP was once again produced by Epitaph Records owner and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz.
Prior to the LP drop next Friday, Rancid are set to headline the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Las Vegas this Sunday (May 28th).

Rancid have announced their first album in six years. The veteran punk band’s 10th studio LP, Tomorrow Never Comes, arrives on June 2nd, and features the just-released title track as its first single.
Tomorrow Never Comes follows 2017’s Trouble Maker. Like that album, the new LP was produced by Epitaph Records owner and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz.
The single “Tomorrow Never Comes” features a three-vocal attack, with Tim Armstrong handling the verses, Lars Frederiksen taking on the main chorus, and bassist Matt Freeman belting “tomorrow” in a call-and-response extension of the chorus.
Prior to the album’s release, Rancid will headline the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Las Vegas on May 28th. After that, they’ll embark on a European/UK tour that kicks off on the album’s release date (June 2nd) in Rimini, Italy, and wraps up June 25th in Tabor, Czech Republic, at the Mighty Sounds Festival.

Chuck D has spent the last four decades shining a light on American injustice with Public Enemy. Now he is expanding his platform.
A new triptych he illustrated for the cover of the first issue of comic book Rogue State depicts gun-toting Maga supporters, pregnant women suffering after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, and gun-toting fundamentalists executing homeless people while getting marketed to. The bottom of each panel contains a theme: “dirty water,” “food shortage,” and “homelessness.” The centerpiece of the marker-and-watercolor panels will come out on Nov.

Unless you were of the right age and geographic orientation, Sublime might be an easy band to overlook. A number of their songs haven’t aged particularly well; from a distance they might blend in with the glut of bleached-blond ska-punks who followed in their wake; and their longevity was limited by the untimely passing of frontman Bradley Nowell, who died of a heroin overdose just before they released the album that would make them household names. But if you happened to be a teenager in Southern California in the late 1990s, Sublime was second only to Snoop and Dre for party and parking lot sound system ubiquity, and the time seems right for a full-scale exploration of one of the decade’s unlikeliest superstar bands.

Los Angeles punk pioneers Bad Religion have been playing for nearly 40 years, but they haven’t lost their urgency: the band just announced they will release their 17th album Age of Unreason on May 3rd on Epitaph Records – an album that the band says directly addresses the “perilous times” the country finds itself in: “The band has always stood for enlightenment values,” co-songwriter and guitarist Brett Gurewitz said in a statement. “Today, these values of truth, freedom, equality, tolerance, and science are in real danger. This record is our response.

The independent label sector is the wellspring of creativity in the music industry and fights hard for its market share, but for all that, it’s never really been big on celebrating itself. The annual Libera Awards, launched seven years ago by the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) trade group, are a rare exception to that rule, and they’ve become a sort of cross between a low-key Grammys and a high-class party for the indie community — a place where you see people dressed up who you ordinarily never see dressed up except at a wedding or in a year when one of their label’s artists has a Grammy nomination. The event, presented by SoundExchange in partnership with BuzzAngle, was held Thursday night at the Best Buy Theater in New York’s Times Square, capped A2IM’s Indie Week conference and confab.

Bad Religion guitarist and Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz will receive A2IM’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the organization’s Libera Awards ceremony on June 21, it announced today.
While the band, which he cofounded in 1980, is one of the most influential punk bands of its era, the label — along with its sister labels, Anti-, Burning Heart, Fat Possum, and Hellcat — has arguably had an even greater impact, helping to spawn acts like The Offspring, Rancid, Pennywise and Nofx, among many others; the Anti- label’s roster includes Tom Waits, Mavis Staples, Tinariwen and Neko Case.
“I’m humbled and honored to receive a Libera Award from my indie colleagues at A2IM and grateful for their advocacy of independent artists and labels,” said Gurewitz.

Black Mask Studios is bringing more comics-focused entertainment to YouTube. The media and publication company has launched its own official YouTube channel, and is working on releasing five new original web series in the near future.
Black Mask was founded in 2012 by filmmaker Matt Pizzolo, Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz, and horror writer Steve Niles. The three founders were inspired to start Black Mask by the “Occupy Comics” project, which aimed to raise money through comics to support the Occupy Wall Street movement.

The name "Godkiller" should ring a bell as we've been talking about the transmedia series of graphic novels, illustrated films, and novels for about five years, and now it's entering yet another phase as an indie weekly comic.
From the Press Release:
Black Mask Studios, the creator-supporting comics publisher founded by Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion, Epitaph Records, Anti- Records), Matt Pizzolo (founder Occupy Comics, Halo-8), and Steve Niles (30 Days Of Night), is launching its first weekly comic book series as Pizzolo brings his beloved modern classic sci-horror franchise Godkiller to comic book stores for the first time.
"I think we've all gotten used to a binge diet for episodic stories. Steve Niles, Matt Pizzolo, and Brett Gurewitz are getting into the comic book publishing game with the new comic book company, Black Mask Studios.
They want the label to be indicative of their punk roots, and put the onus on the creators.
Pizzolo: “Comics has a troubled history with its treatment of creators…our goal is to bring the supportive ethic of record labels like Epitaph, Dischord, and Revelation to comics.” Niles: “Brett, Matt, and I all came up in the Diy punk scene…And we’re bringing that kind of attitude to this… the constructive part about supporting voices who are talking about real things but in a bold and exciting way. We’re not afraid to bring in activism and politics and counterculture. What publisher today could be bringing out the next V For Vendetta? Nobody.“
The trio’s new venture start with a bang, with four new series in May,...

30 Days of Night writer Steve Niles and Epitaph Records CEO/Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz are joining Halo-8 president/Godkiller writer Matt Pizzolo to form new comics outfit Black Mask Studios with the aim of disrupting the comics market.
From the Press Release:
Niles (pictured) will serve as creative director with Pizzolo as president, and Gurewitz's Epitaph Records will power the operation.
"Comics have become this monopolized walled garden where you're only allowed to grow two things: superheroes and movie treatments," said Pizzolo. "We're going to open a new space outside the entrenched market where we can cultivate more subversive, experimental, and literary comics to reach broader audiences."
"With both Godkiller and 30 Days of Night, we discovered a large community of readers outside the comic market who really had no idea how to get comics," said Niles. "This is a way to reach those people again and expand the comic reading audience.

"You might say hey, maybe punk rock was never meant to grow up -- but it did, so too bad. We're in uncharted territory," Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz, also the owner of Epitaph Records, says early in Andrea Blaugrund's documentary The Other F Word. Billing itself as a "coming of middle age story," this earnest and intermittently lovable look into the lives of prominent punk rockers who've gone on to become responsible fathers doesn't break as much ground as it seems to hope and believe.

The town is a relic of the old west sheltered from modern day with some rough and scrappy animal inhabitants. Rango seizes the day by claiming to be a gun-slinging rough riding tough guy responsible for taking out baddies. Given his stature, the locals take him in as their last...

Fontana, California — Travis Barker was born in Fontana, making it a sure bet that he felt a sense of homecoming as Blink-182 made their only North American appearance of the year at California's Epicenter 2010 Festival in that very town. The trio's hit-packed set closed the two-day event on Sunday following performances from Rise Against, 30 Seconds to Mars, Against Me! and more.
Afternoon temperatures reached 110 degrees in the racetrack parking lot where Epicenter took place, but the crowd's enthusiasm never seemed to wane, thanks in part to a steady stream of water misters and water cannons. Epicenter 2010 kicked off Saturday with Eminem (in his only West Coast appearance this year), Kiss and reunited alt-rockers Bush, among others.

By the power of Twitter, Weezer has announced a new album release. Rivers Cuomo and Co. have signed to Epitaph for “Hurley,” the follow-up to their last “Raditude.” The album will be out in a little more than a month on Sept. 14. Last night (Aug. 4), Epitaph head Brett Gurewitz Tweeted “Rivers, Pat, Brian and Scott, Welcome to Epitaph homies! Last time around, Weezer went all in on the modern pop game, larding tracks on 2009's Raditude with guest spots from Lil Wayne and production and writing help from the All-American Rejects, Dr. Luke and Butch Walker. But for their upcoming (September 14) debut for punk stalwart label Epitaph Records, Hurley (alas, not Heavy Mental), Rivers Cuomo and company are dialing things all the way back to the 1960s.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the band's eighth studio album is nearly finished and it will have a much different sound than their previous effort.
