Alhamad is also credited as cinematographer, having filmed herself and her family for three years.

Some movies transport you from your dreary, everyday existence into a fascinating world of excitement and wonder. And then there are films like “Zero Contact,” which make you wish you were taking out the cat litter or regrouting the bathroom tiles instead of watching it.
“Zero Contact” stars Sir Anthony Hopkins as Finley Hart, a billionaire technology guru who, at the start of the film, has already died and left his mysterious final project, “The Quantinuum Initiative,” unfinished.
After his death, a group of people directly connected to Finley are summoned to a mysterious video chat, where they are told to input their secret codes and activate the Quantinuum Initiative. It’s a process that should take all of 45 seconds, but they have an hour to do it, because first they have to dump a metric ton of exposition, debate each other’s motives and get picked off by a...

“It’s been the great mystery in political history of the past 50 years,” said Slamdance Film Festival founder, writer and director Dan Mirvish of the eighteen-and-a-half minutes famously missing from the Nixon Tapes. His campy political thriller out this weekend takes a stab at what might have happened.
Adventure Entertainment opens 18 1/2 today on four screens in NY, LA, and Fort Lauderdale, expanding next week to about 60 including a special screening Wednesday at the Landmark Theatres E Street Cinema in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Watergate. The National Archives is screening CNN documentary series Watergate: Blueprint for a Scandal the same night at a dueling event with John Dean, who was President Richard Nixon’s counsel from July, 1970 to April, 1973. The mother of U.S. political scandals exploded in June of 1972 when five men broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate hotel and office complex.

The mild initial curiosity stirred by Zoom-shot movies died quickly, because so few of them were watchable, and because filmmakers quickly found workarounds to create more fluid entertainments while still observing Covid precautionary measures. Thus “Zero Contact” arrives as a novelty that’s already more than worn out its welcome, aiming for dubious additional distinction as “the world’s first star-powered feature film Nft.” (It was released in that form last September — whether anyone actually purchased it as such is unknown.)
We’ll just gingerly step around that factoid, as the aptly named “Zero Contact” has plenty of more tangible ways in which it is a steaming pile of nada. Producer turned first-time director Rick Dugdale and screenwriter Cam Cannon’s would-be thriller has five globally-scattered protagonists yelling at their screens during a conference call in which the fate of all humanity supposedly hangs in the balance from some murky high-tech threat.

Zero Contact stars Chris Brochu (“The Vampire Diaries”), Aleks Paunovic (“Snowpiercer”) and Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs). The film marks the directorial debut of Rick Dugdale, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Cam Cannon (Deadlock).
Here’s the trailer:
Starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), this high-tech thriller chillingly reimagines our isolated, virtual world. Hopkins plays Finley Hart, the eccentric genius behind a global data-mining program. Upon his death, five remote agents — including Finley’s son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events occur at each of the agents’ homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world…or destroy it.

When a Christie’s auction sold a Nft of Beeple’s work “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” for $69 million in March 2021, it seemed like a trip to outer space or a cryotherapy home spa: the latest absurdist fad of the super wealthy. A year later, everyone loves NFTs: Snoop Dogg is planning to turn Death Row Records into “an Nft label.” McDonald’s wants to use NFTs in virtual restaurants that deliver real food.
Even Hollywood, usually behind the curve on consumer technology, is starting to catch up: Last week, Disney promoted an executive to lead “Next Generation Storytelling and Consumer Experiences,” while Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine signed a partnership with Nft collective World of Women to turn its characters into movies and TV shows.

Updated with trailer and launch date. The trailer for Zero Contact, a film starring Anthony Hopkins that will premiere via a new non-fungible token platform Vuele.
In addition to the trailer (watch it above), Vuele said it will premiere the film, which follows Hopkins’ Oscar win last spring for The Father, via several Nft “drops” beginning September 24. The tagline of the trailer describes Zero Contact as “the world’s first feature film Nft event,” though the space has drawn a crush of interest from a range of film and entertainment players lately.
Chris Brochu has also been announced as part of the film’s cast.
Previously:
Enderby Entertainment’s pandemic pic Zero Contact (formerly called 92) with Anthony Hopkins will premiere on new Nft platform Vuele later this summer, possibly the first time a feature-length film — versus, say, a basketball highlight clip — is offered for sale as a so-called non-fungible token.

“Zero Contact” was virtually produced in 17 territories during the Covid-19 pandemic last year. The thriller follows five characters based all over the world who are only connected by their devotion to the late tech titan Finley Hart (Hopkins). Italian screen legend Franco Nero is having a busy year. “Recon,” the Robert Port-directed World War II thriller in which he stars, opened theatrically on Veteran’s Day in the U.S. as an event release and since then has been playing well online. German courtroom procedural “The Collini Case,” in which Nero has the title role, recently dropped Stateside on several platforms after scoring well theatrically in Germany. His Cuba set “Havana Kyrie” will also be coming out in the U.S. soon.
And Nero’s got plenty more projects in the pipeline including “Django Lives!” where he plans to reprise the role that brought him worldwide fame in Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 classic Spaghetti Western “Django.” On his birthday, the 79-year-old icon spoke exclusively to Variety from Rome, where he’s been stuck due to the pandemic, but was pleased to get flowers sent from England by his wife Vanessa Redgrave.

Boys in the Trees.
Nicholas Verso.s Boys in the Trees has won the award for Best Narrative Feature at the Austin Film Festival. "I first attended the Austin Film Festival back in 2013 to attend the Writers Conference clutching my own script, desperately wanting to turn it into a film,. said Verso on accepting the award. .So it was incredibly exciting to return to Austin, not just for the Us premiere but to also receive this award.. Being acknowledged among their industry greats and emerging talents that have given me so much inspiration is truly an honour. .I especially wanted to thank John August and Craig Mazin at Scriptnotes for their wise tips and wisecracks at my accent as well as Rick Dugdale and Dan Petrie Jnr at Enderby Entertainment for their ongoing support and introducing me to this festival.. . From writing Beverly Hills Cop to directing Toy Soldiers and Dawn Patrol, we have a chat with writer/producer/director Daniel Petrie Jr.
Daniel Petrie Jr comes from a family with movies in its blood.
His father, Daniel Petrie Sr, directed films such as Resurrection, Cocoon: The Return and A Raisin In The Sun. His mother, Dorothea, produced movies, wrote novels and acted. And then his brother, Donald Petrie, directed Cocoon: The Return, Miss Congeniality and Grumpy Old Men.
Yet Daniel Petrie Jr is just as busy. His screenplays include Turner & Hooch and Beverly Hills Cop (for which he earned an Academy Award nomination), whilst his directorial debut was the much-loved (by us especially) Toy Soldiers.
As his new film as director, Dawn Patrol (starring Scott Eastwood) lands on DVD, he spared us some time for a chat about his career. Starting with what he's up to right now.
