Exclusive: Epix comedy documentary series Unprotected Sets is moving from television to podcasting with a 12-episode audio series.
MGM and Audio Up, the podcasting company that the studio invested in earlier this year, will launch the series on August 5.
It is the latest MGM series to move into the podcast form after the company launched audio series based on its unscripted franchises including Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.
The Unprotected Sets TV series ran for 12 episodes, launching in October 2018, on Epix. Exec produced by Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz, it featured rising comedians including Zainab Johnson, Mia Jackson, Becky Braunstein and Paris Sashay.
Epix President Michael Wright inherited the series when he took the network job and said he “loved it” but told Deadline last year that he wasn’t sure that a weekly comedy series works on Epix.

Miami — The atmosphere at the annual Natpe conference this year was a bit of old school and a lot of new school.
In keeping with Natpe’s remit as a content market, hopeful stars of new fall talk show prospects pressed the flesh in a flurry of meetings and receptions with station buyers. MGM TV’s promo blitz for Lauren Lake’s upcoming yakker couldn’t be missed with all manner of signage around the conference.
Drew Barrymore made the rounds — and even braved a windy party on the deck of Miami’s Soho House — to express her commitment to making “The Drew Barrymore Show” a success come September.
Nick Cannon, another fall 2020 talk show entrant, couldn’t walk around the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel without being mobbed by fans for selfies. His electric teal suit made him easy to spot in the blend of tourists and TV executives spread...

A little momentum goes a long way in daytime.
After a long slump, the first-run syndication market has come back to life this year with several high-profile new talk shows headed for this year’s Natpe conference in Miami, which runs Jan. 21-23.
Nick Cannon is extending his multimedia endeavors into daytime. So is actor-entrepreneur Drew Barrymore. Judge Lauren Lake of MGM’s “Paternity Court” will come out from behind the bench to host a half-hour show that is a throwback to the classic conflict-resolution format employed by Phil Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael and yack pack stalwarts of a different era.
The spring in the syndie biz’s step comes from a better-than-expected performance this fall of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” a big bet by NBCUniversal Domestic TV on a talk-variety vehicle hosted by the pop superstar and coach on NBC’s “The Voice.” Since its debut in September, “Kelly...

David Armour is not one to rest on his laurels. After creating “Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court” in 2013 and overseeing a successful launch that saw it reap two Daytime Emmy nominations in a row, he brought the ground-breaking “Couples Court with the Cutlers” to TV in 2017. That breakout hit earned an Daytime Emmy nomination for its first season. In our recent interview, which you can watch above, Armour is quick to credit the trio of talent who preside over these shows for their success. “We’re really fortunate to have two shows with unique perspectives and great talent. They have a similar approach to storytelling but a very different tone.”
Armour, who has an extensive background in daytime TV, details the process by which he created “Paternity Court” as it was known when it debuted. “I was lucky enough to be at “The Ricki Lake Show” and see what works in daytime.
