Cast and creatives of series “The X-Files,” including David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, have reunited virtually to record a special version of the show’s famous theme tune, with fan-written lyrics, to benefit the World Central Kitchen.
“The X-Files” series executive producer Frank Spotnitz’s desire to help the needy during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic saw him devise a challenge for “The X-Files” fans to write bespoke lyrics for the show’s instrumental theme tune. The winning tune was written by fans Jennifer Large and Rebecca McDonald.
Spotnitz mobilized cast members and the creative team to sing the winning lyrics in a video compilation recorded from their homes. “Song in the Key of X” was recorded via video calls with 33 members of “The X-Files” cast and team, including David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), Robert Patrick (John Doggett), Annabeth Gish (Monica Reyes), James Pickens Jr....

The conversation is changing. With each passing week, more and more female stars have shared their experiences with rampant Hollywood sexism, from horrifying stories about giving “blowjob eyes” at auditions to tales of pay inequality and pushing for more female-led stories. While the sheer scale of the stories is upsetting — it seems like every actress has their own tale to tell — that these stars feel comfortable speaking out on the subject is heartening, one step closer to an industry that doesn’t have this kind of discrimination seemingly baked into its everyday operations.
While there have certainly been misfires along the way — actress and director Elizabeth Banks was recently taken to task for (incorrectly) calling out Steven Spielberg for never directing films with female leads, and “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke compared sexism to racism in an ill-concieved statement to Rolling Stone — the recent uptick in discussion is proof that the,...

“The X-Files” fans have a great reason to be excited since Season 11 is officially on the way, but this week news hit that should make every fan somewhat disappointed in the franchise. Earlier this week, the Season 11 writers’ room was revealed to be made up of only men — Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, James Wong, Gabe Rotter, Benjamin Van Allen and Brad Follmer — prompting industry backlash and a call to diversify the voices behind-the-scenes. Now star Gillian Anderson has weighed in, and she’s not happy about the lack of women either.

In a tweet published earlier today, Anderson quoted a story about the all-male writers’ room and responded by also revealing only two of the series’ 207 episodes have been directed by women. That already-abysmal statistic is even worse when you consider Anderson herself directed one of the episodes.

Chris Carter has assembled a new writers’ room for the next season of “The X-Files,” TheWrap has confirmed. In addition to bringing back series veterans Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, and James Wong, Carter has also added former series assistants Gabe Rotter, Benjamin Van Allen and Brad Follmer to Season 11. The internet quickly noticed that Carter had once again assembled an all-male group of writers to tell the next installment in the story of supernatural-chasing FBI agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). “The X-Files” was always a show where the quality depended largely on the writing, so paying attention to who would sign up for the upcoming Season 11 has been a high priority for fans.
And now we know: TV Line is reporting that creator Chris Carter has re-enlisted writers Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, and James Wong (who all worked on Season 10) for the new season, which is shooting this summer for a early 2018 release.

In addition, three new writers have been selected to help complete the 10 episodes ordered by Fox earlier this year. And the new kids in town are Gabe Rotter, Benjamin Van Allen, and Brad Follmer — the first two were writers’ assistants on Seasons 9 and 10, while Follmer was Carter’s personal assistant during the show’s original run.

On Sunday, January 24th, Fox will bring back Chris Carter’s brilliant series, The X-Files, for a six-episode revival run that will reunite beloved FBI Special Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) for more alien-related exploits.
The last time we saw The X-Files on the airwaves during its initial run was back in May 2002, so if you watched the series throughout its nine seasons, you may be in need of a refresher on all the key players and integral storylines that make up the core mythology of The X-Files.
Mythology in regards to The X-Files could mean various things: the existence of aliens and how our government plays into that, various characters that fit in with different prophecies, the “Black Oil” that became a prominent antagonistic force during season three, the various conspirators and their attempts to derail Mulder and Scully’s work on the X-Files, Scully’s...

If I’ve learned one thing from this re-watch of season 9 of The X-Files it’s this, I really love John Doggett. His character brings so much to the series that without him, I can’t help but feel as though this final season would have been even worse. Of course it’s only appropriate that they would give him his own episode to wrap up the most important Doggett storyline…the death of his son Luke.
The death of Doggett’s son prior to him joining of the FBI was the source of his anger and desire for justice, similar to the abduction of Mulder’s sister being the source of his search for truth. Some might say Doggett’s story is a little too close to that but I don’t think so, his is a different kind of drive and Robert Patrick never fails to sell us on Doggett’s grief.
