2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" might not be the franchise's finest moment, but it still has some cool Indiana Jones moments — the whole nuking the fridge thing aside. With the fourth film in the series, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg decided to leave the adventure serial style of the previous films behind in favor of a 1950s sci-fi B-movie sensibility. Whereas the Nazis had been the go-to villains for the previous three entries, Lucas and Spielberg's new approach saw Indy facing off against the Soviets at the height of the Cold War, in a race to recover the titular cranium in order to thwart the Russians' nefarious plans.
But before any of those grand escapades kick off, "Crystal Skull" makes sure to get a good old-fashioned chase scene in. After Harrison Ford's Dr. Jones meets his long-lost son Mutt Williams (Shia Labeouf) for the first time,...

Reflecting on making "Raiders of the Lost Ark," Steven Spielberg was amazed his stunt team survived the shoot. Writing for the American Society of Cinematographers, he recalled how even Harrison Ford put himself in harm's way to bring the 1981 adventure classic to life, including when he outran a 300-pound fiberglass boulder as part of the now famous opening sequence. Spielberg summed it up with this brief admission: "Harrison had to race the rock 10 times. He won 10 times -- and beat the odds. He was lucky -- and I was an idiot for letting him try it."
Elsewhere on the high-risk production that was "Raiders," half the crew were struck with dysentery and Ford almost shattered his knee after his leg was run over by a plane wheel. But that opening scene, wherein Indiana Jones traverses the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors before stealing the Golden Idol and outrunning the boulder,...

I'm not sure of the exact point at which Harrison Ford transmogrified from charmingly wry leading man to Hollywood's biggest grump, but it might have been around the time "K-19: The Widowmaker" flopped at the box office. Either way, it's been a genuine delight to see the now famously crotchety veteran star angrily dismiss questions about "Star Wars" and Han Solo — arguably his biggest character alongside Indiana Jones — ever since.
Come to think of it, Ford has always had a healthy disdain for the franchise that turned him into a star. He's known for not being the biggest fan of George Lucas' "Star Wars" writing, famously telling the director, "You can type this s***, but you sure can't say it!" And that was way before his later descent into grumpiness. But the light-hearted ribbing of his former director developed into palpable scorn as Ford aged, with the actor telling ABC News...

Even though Star Wars Celebration is chock full of anything and everything from a galaxy far, far away, it's also an official Lucasfilm event, so that means this year's convention attendees were also treated to some hype for the upcoming "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." Since this is the final adventure for Harrison Ford as the iconic archaeologist, Indiana Jones is bound to get one hell of a send-off, and that includes a barrage of new merchandise inspired by all of Indy's adventures over the years. Well, maybe not so much "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," but certainly "Raiders of the Lost Ark, "Temple of Doom," and "The Last Crusade."
