Rodrigo Hernandez is a filmmaker who was born in Mexico and grew up between Spain and Mexico. He began his professional career as a correspondent in Africa and went on to report in more than 50 countries. He covered the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia, the coup in Honduras and military conflicts in Somalia or Afghanistan.
Since 2012 he has been part of the Zungu audiovisual collective.
He directed various documentary series ("After the War", Nuestra América Deportiva, Pachamama) broadcast in dozens of countries. As a cinematographer he worked for documentaries at The New York Times, National Geographic, Netflix and BBC.
In 2018 he co-directed the documentary feature "Shooting" ("Disparos") presented at some of the most important festivals in the world and becoming the most exhibited documentary in Mexican theaters of the year. His short documentary "Blood On Our Side," made in 2020, won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Short at the 2020 Austin Film Festival, qualifying for the Academy Awards in 2021. His latest short, Serigne (2023), participated and won numerous festivals around the world and was nominated for the International Emmy for best documentary.
