Smash Mouth’s 1997 debut album, Fush Yu Mang, is receiving its first widespread vinyl release on November 24th via Real Gone Music.
Anchored by their first major hit, “Walkin’ on the Sun,” the original release of Fush Yu Mang has often been outshined by the success — and meme-dom — of Smash Mouth’s later hit, “All Star.” But long before Shrek or YouTube edits, the band was busy blending their hip-hop and punk backgrounds to forge an album that, according to Consequence’s Jonah Krueger, “rocks pretty damn hard.”
Now, the reissue of Fush Yu Mang arrives as the band is reflecting on their storied career and paying homage to their one-time lead vocalist, Steve Harwell, who died this past September after a long struggle with alcoholism.
The new pressing of Fush Yu Mang will arrive on November 24th, and is available on special, colored vinyl: strawberry pink with a black swirl.

What are you doing in my swamp?! Well, if you've made it this far, you're probably wondering how you can get your hands on the hideous monstrosities pictured above. That's right, Crocs already had the market cornered on clunky shoes that just so happen to be incredibly convenient and unbelievably comfortable, but now they've reached a new high (low?) by delivering a pair of rubber slip-on clogs inspired by everybody's favorite green ogre from the DreamWorks Animation movie franchise "Shrek."
The limited edition "Shrek" Crocs use the Classic Clog design but enhance it with a neon green color and a furry brown heel strap. But that's not all. The "Shrek" Crocs also feature the ogre's antenna-like ears and a bulbous nose as Jibbitz charms on the foot of the shoe.

This week, the music world mourned the death of Steve Harwell, a founding member and frontman of Smash Mouth whose distinctive delivery helped turn “Walkin’ on the Sun” and “All Star” into multi-generational pop hits. Until his retirement in 2021, he and bassist Paul Delisle were the two consistent members of the band’s lineup since their 1994 inception. And while guitarist Greg Camp served as the songwriter behind the group’s best-known tunes, Harwell was its iconic voice — in more ways than one.

Today came the sad news that Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell died at 56. Smash Mouth is undoubtedly best known today for the fact their 1999 hit song "All Star" played at the very beginning of the first "Shrek" movie. Like with everything else related to "Shrek," the song has become a bit of a meme.
It's easy to forget, however, that before "Shrek" debuted at Cannes and went on to win the very first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, "All Star" was a smash hit way before Shrek. It was considered one of the best songs of 1999 and even got nominated for the Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal Grammy. While "Shrek" immortalized it, it was actually another film from 2001 that gave us the best use of "All Star," and one of the best endings to a movie of the last 20 years.

Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell has died at the age of 56.
According to Smash Mouth’s manager, Robert Hayes, Harwell “passed peacefully and comfortably” at his home in Boise, Idaho on Monday, September 4th.
Harwell recently began hospice care due to liver failure. Additionally, he suffered from cardiomyopathy and Wernicke’s encephalopathy.
Born January 9th, 1967, in Santa Clara, California, Steven Scott Harwell actually began his career as a rapper. His group Freedom of Speech (F.O.S.) recorded one song, “Big Black Boots,” that earned them some local radio play and scored Harwell a manager before he set his sights on alternative rock.
Harwell formed Smash Mouth in 1994, teaming with drummer Kevin Coleman, guitarist Greg Camp, and bassist Paul De Lisle. Their debut album, Fush Mu Yang, arrived three years later, and featured the single “Walkin’ on the Sun,” which hit No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart.

Nearly two weeks after the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally drew hundreds of thousands of people to South Dakota amid a pandemic, between 70 to 100 cases of Covid-19 throughout the United States have been traced back to that event.
CNN reports that contact tracers in Minnesota have already tied 35 coronavirus cases to two people who worked at the rally and then returned to the state. Kris Ehresmann, infectious disease director at the Minnesota Department of Health, previously told the Associated Press, “We’re expecting that we’re going to see many more cases associated with Sturgis.

Smash Mouth’s “All Star” has followed you incessantly for the last two decades. If you’re under the age of 30, it’s a part of the fabric of your life as much as it’s a strand of the DNA that keeps the internet funny and weird. But before “All Star” was an inescapable hit, or the anthem for a misanthropic, titular green ogre in Dreamworks’ mega-hit Shrek, or the inspiration for countless memes on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and TikTok today, it began as a chance for Smash Mouth to prove themselves.

Smash Mouth was supposed to crush it at the Taste of Fort Collins music fest Sunday in Colorado, but lead singer Steve Harwell didn't take too kindly to some of the crowd's antics. A select few nostalgia-hating attendees thought it a good idea to pelt the vocalist with chunks of bread while he was getting ready to perform an "All Star" encore. (Why bread? It's a food and music festival, and one of the vendor booths there was giving away loaves of bread gratis because maybe they were thinking nothing bad would ever happen if they gave away free bread.) Naturally and understandably, Harwell didn't like this. Unfortunately, though, he lost his cool and proceeded to act very unlike an all-star, firing off a string of insults and threats for anyone in the crowd brave enough to mess with him. People began booing. Harwell jumped offstage. Security intervened. Nobody won.
