Singer Charlie Daniels is over CNN's news talk show host Piers Morgan attacking Americans over guns and the Duck Dynasty flap. After Morgan said about Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson via Twitter Thursday, "[T]he 1st Amendment shouldn't protect vile bigots," Daniels shot back: "Piers Morgan why don't you go back to England and straighten it out before you try to change the United States of America": Daniels, frontman for the Charlie Daniels Band, also told his fans about the Dd scandal that “it’s a sorry day in America.” Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson — one of the stars of the A&E reality show and a fundamentalist Christian — doled out some coarse anti-gay comments in a new GQ profile. Harold And Maude (Criterion) Hal Ashby’s masterpiece of black humor centers on a wealthy young man (Bud Cort) who’s obsessed with death and the septuagenarian (Ruth Gordon) with whom he finds true love. As unabashedly romantic as it is quirky, with Cat Stevens supplying one of the great film scores of all-time. Fine support from Vivian Pickles, Cyril Cusack, Charles Tyner, and Ellen Geer. Fine screenplay by Colin Higgins. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Hal Ashby biographer Nick Dawson, producer Charles Mulvehill; Illustrated audio excerpts from seminars by Ashby and Higgins; Interview with Cat Stevens. Widescreen. Dolby 2.0 stereo.
In Darkness (Sony) Agnieszka Holland’s Ww II epic tells the true story of a sewer worker and petty thief in Nazi-occupied Poland who single-handedly helped hide a group of Jews in the city’s labyrinthine sewer system for the duration of the war.

For the spooky Halloween week on "Dancing With the Stars," Nancy Grace and her pro partner Tristan McManus drew the jive, which is not an easy dance. They chose to get their jive on to the Charlie Daniels Band's "Devil Went Down to Georgia."
The judges were not overjoyed. Carrie Ann says, "Last week was a good day, this week was not so good. It kills me because I like you, you are having the time of your life." Len adds, "Certain dances suit you and certain dances don't ... This wasn't a good dance for you."
Bruno cracks, "Either the devil got you or your shoes are too small. You kept going on and off, on and off. The spirit was right ... but the footing was devilish as well."
Nancy ended up with three 7s for the lowest score of the night (prior to the group dance) with a 21 overall.

Nashville, Tenn. -- Country star Charlie Daniels says his longtime keyboardist and co-writer of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" had his own musical personality.
Joel "Taz" Digregorio, 67, was killed Wednesday night in a single-car accident on Interstate 40 west of Nashville while en route to Georgia for a Charlie Daniels Band concert that has since been canceled. He was alone when his car flipped going around a curve, Daniels said.
"He was an intricate part of our sound for 40 years," Daniels said Thursday in a telephone interview. "If you listened to our records, you could hear Taz all over them. He had a riff in `The Devil Went Down to Georgia' which was his idea."
Wearing an ever present cowboy hat and always to Daniels' right on stage, Digregorio was a fixture of the band's rocking persona.
"He just fit in with our music for 40 years.

We arrived in Toledo, Ohio on Tuesday afternoon eager to meet and greet the people who knew Crystal Bowersox before she became a leading contender on America's top reality singing show. These are the folks who saw a 12-year-old girl get up on stage at a bar during a set break and blow the roof off the joint. They were dumbfounded when she sang original songs at 13 and professed her confidence at 16 that she'd be a star someday. They knew she'd be a star way before the rest of the country discovered her on "American Idol."
Our first stop was Papa's Tavern, an 70-year-old saloon across the Maumee River from downtown Toledo smack dab in the middle of a working class neighborhood. I've never had a neighborhood bar, but if I did, this place is what I imagine it would be like. Everyone greeted us like old friends as we walked in.

Friday, Jan. 15 country music legend Charlie Daniels suffered a stroke while snowmobiling in Durango, Co, 290 miles southwest of Denver.
Daniels was treated in Durango, then airlifted to a hospital in Denver where he stayed until he was released on Sunday (Jan. 17).
Daniels posted a statement on his official website that assured fans he would not cancel any appearances. His next appearance is scheduled for Feb. 27 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
And there's always the Charlie Daniels Geico commercial, which always cracks us up. Check it out below.
"Devil Went Down to Georgia" is far and away the biggest hit for the Charlie Daniels Band and if you've never heard it, you should. His fiddle playing is out-of-this-world.
Rest up, Charlie and get well soon!
