Practical-ly Perfect: Pennywise, Past and Present with Alec Gillis, Tom Woodruff Jr., and Bart Mixon
Over the weekend, Creature Features in Burbank, California played host to an amazing panel called Creating Pennywise, which featured Tom Woodruff, Jr. and Alec Gillis from studioADI, as well as fellow legendary effects artist Bart Mixon, who was responsible for bringing the Tim Curry iteration of Pennywise to life for the 1990 It miniseries.
And even though we have already celebrated Bart Mixon’s iconic design and his ambitious efforts from over 27 years ago just a few months back (which you can read about Here), the discussion held during the Creating Pennywise panel was just too good not to share as part of Daily Dead’s "Practical-ly Perfect" series.
Read on for highlights from the panel, and be sure to check out some of the photos below, which feature an amazing Pennywise bust as well as some of his various sets of teeth and more.

A 1998 comment by then-State Sen. Barack Obama regarding "redistribution" has been disseminated as a way to blunt Mitt Romney's "47%" remarks from earlier this year. While other news organizations ran with the version of those remarks that was distributed by the President's opponents, NBC News made a decision to stop running the clip until it could be verified. That caution has been partially vindicated, as NBC News' Michael O'Brien reports that they have obtained video of the comment in question that includes context that was omitted in the more widely-distributed version.

As cult comics speak to us from beyond the grave, Julian Clary and Airplane display their enduring popularity
Best of this week's news
Cult comics speak to us from beyond the grave this week, as Film Four announce a new film loosely based on the life and career of Chris Sievey and his alter ego Frank Sidebottom. Sidebottom was the large-headed wannabe pop star who became an unlikely phenomenon in the 1980s – which isn't exactly typecasting for the X-Men and Prometheus star Michael Fassbender, who's slated to play him. The movie is by screenwriter Peter Straughan and writer Jon Ronson, who has tweeted to deny that the film is explicitly about Sievey/Sidebottom.
No such coyness from the wife of Peter Cook, who has released 40 hours of unreleased material by her husband to mark the relaunch of The Establishment club (see last week's Laughing Stock) in Soho. Says record label boss Mike O'Brien,...

For the latest episode of "7 Minutes in Heaven," Mike O'Brien was joined in the closet by comedian and "Delocated" star Jon Glaser.
Glaser broke all kinds of boundaries in his interview -- he's not only the first guest to bring a sandwich into the closet, he's also the first one to turn the tables and try to kiss O'Brien within the first minute of being in there. This is groundbreaking stuff.
The silliness didn't stop the guys from covering real topics, though. They talked dads, kissing Darth Vader and what to name Glaser's armpit hair during their time together.
Watch the full clip above, and let us know in the comments if you'd support "It's So Hard on a Bro" being released as an mp3 (it can't be just us, right?).
Also, you can check out a ton of previous "7 Minutes" episodes here.

Tina Fey is one of my favorite people and she's probably one of your favorite people too (unless you're a Sarah Palin super fan, in which case … well, to each his own).
So it's with great pleasure that we bring you her hilarious "7 Minutes in Heaven" interview with Mike O'Brien. Watch Fey riff on Liz Lemon's cameo on "Breaking Bad," throwing up at Gramercy Tavern, making out with John Goodman, which "Cosby" is she (and which would she be comfortable with watching her shower) and, of course, making out – as is the custom on the Internet sensation chat fest.
Watch:
This interview comes just a few weeks after she tore Zach Galifianakis apart on "Between Two Ferns," another online smash (though Fey's appearance did air first on TV before dominating the Internet).
Check it out, after the jump.

Zeus have their own studio, III Eagle, and like any good showmen, the Canadian group like to show off their toys. The quartet have recorded a "Live from III Eagle" version of every song from their newest album "Busting Visions," and today HitFix gets to unveil "Hello, Tender Love" from those sessions. The rock act has been garnering comparisons to T Rex and The Who, but here they wring out a swaying bluesy ode like a heart-hurt Link Wray or contemporaries the Black Keys. Three-quarters of the band can sing, and sing they do, though here Mike O'Brien (who looks suspiciously like Gary Oldman) counters...

Mike O'Brien recently lived out the fantasy of roughly eighty percent of the population (the other twenty percent are asexual or infants) when he spent Seven Minutes in Heaven with the charming, dreamy Jon Hamm. And unlike some of O'Brien's other "Seven Minutes" interviews, this one lived up to its name. Needless to say, dude is one lucky sonofabitch. So what do we learn about Hamm that we didn't already learn from that bizarre-as-fuck Esquire interview? Well, let's see. About half of his sexual encounters end in tears, he prefers to say goodbye to British lads with a tip of the bowler hat, and praising The Town will not get him to kiss you. Oh, and Don Draper's first appearance was not in Ally McBeal. Though hot damn: If he had guested in an episode featuring Robert Downey, Jr., I would [...]...

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, a.k.a, rap-metal duo Insane Clown Posse, are the latest guests to get up close and personal with "Saturday Night Live" writer Mike O'Brien on "7 Minutes In Heaven."
They cover it all in the interview -- lyrics, calorie counting, parenting -- so you're sure to get a well-rounded view of the dudes behind that crazy juggalo makeup. And as always, O'Brien tries to finish things off with a casual makeout sesh.
We won't spoil it for you and tell you how that works out, though.

There's awkward, and then there's "Insane Clown Posse on Seven Minutes in Heaven awkward." The duo stopped by Mike O'Brien's interview-in-a-closet series recently and boy oh boy was it a trainwreck. The guys respond pretty seriously to a bunch of O'Brien's rapid-fire, jokey questions — why yes, they are overprotective fathers and they're not that insane — and then make a bit in which Violent J is a parent complaining about Insane Clown Posse lyrics less humorous than it is uncomfortably believable. Oh, and the attempted kiss at the end? Yeesh. On top of it being a little homophobic, the situation is also tenser than every single moment on "Between Two Ferns" combined. All Icp awkwardness aside, though, Mike O'Brien is pretty funny, so you all should probably hurry up and log onto Internet.com if you want him [...]...

After having a bit of a choppy week, it should be no surprise that Andy Samberg decided to cut loose by spending some time in "Saturday Night Live" writer Mike O'Brien's interview closet. Samberg is the most recent in a long string of "SNL" cast members to appear on "7 Minutes in Heaven", and since O'Brien has already gotten up close and personal with Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig, The Lonely Island frontman was the obvious next choice on his makeout list.
The guys get down to the nitty gritty about Samberg's childhood bullying and there's even a sNSFW surprise sex toy cameo.

If you've been keeping up with "Saturday Night Live" writer Mike O'Brien's web series, "7 Minutes In Heaven," you already know that he's gotten to lock lips with Patricia Clarkson, Amy Poehler, Hoda Kotb and other fabulous ladies -- all while standing in an NBC closet.
Oh, and did we mention he also interviews them? That too.
This week, Mike's guest is his fellow "SNL" office mate Jason Sudeikis. Now, we know what you're thinking, and yes -- there is some man-on-man action in this video. But Jason also offers some hilarious quips, does a one-second impression of his uncle George Wendt (yes, Norm from "Cheers") and shows off his versatility as a comedic actor by doing three reads of a line. It's all very funny. Check it out!

· Well done, Internet; well done! Saturday Night Live writer Mike O'Brien debuted his new web series 7 Minutes With Heaven on Friday, and guest Kristen Wiig is more than up to the challenge of appearing on a show set inside a closet. Watch the Bridesmaids star mug for the camera, hide under a dress and make claustrophobia look as hilarious as possible. The only problem? The episode isn't seven minutes long! Guess 4 Minutes and 31 Seconds in Heaven wasn't as catchy. Your Friday Buzz Break is here.

I think post-Bridesmaids it's fair to admit we've all got something of a crush on Kristen Wiig. If you're looking to shake that, this new video probably won't help. Wiig is at her most adorbz in "7 Minutes in Heaven," a new interview series with SNL writer Mike O'Brien. The basic gist is that it's an interview inside a closet. It's a little bit of Letterman, "Between Two Ferns" and SNL all mixed into one. It's a testament to Wiig's likability that she can...

On the latest episode of "The Bachelor," we get what is my very favorite of all the episodes - the hometown visits. I love seeing the contestants' families because they are usually completely adorable or they are bat-crap crazy/scary and of course that's funny.
Chantal's Date
Chantal is the first hometown date we see. They are up in Seattle, where Chantal lives close to her parents. They go to her apartment to meet her two cats and a dog first, which is a nice house. Her father Mike O'Brien was a defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks and is now a auto dealership king in the Seattle area, so presumably the family has some money, in case you were wondering about the house ...
The O'Brien house is crazy impressive. Just a straight up mansion out on Mercer Island. And while her mom is a good indication that Chantal will age well,...

"Saturday Night Live" veteran Jason Sudeikis has had the opportunity to share some intimate (and hilarious) scenes with some of Hollywood's most desired male celebrities. On the verge of becoming a movie star with "Hall Pass" and "Horrible Bosses" hitting the big screen in 2011, Sudeikis takes a stroll down memory lane with the Advocate on some of his hottest small-screen leading men.

You probably know Tom Waits for his 40-year stint of upbeat pop songs about alcoholism, hookers, and sometimes being "at sea" for no discernable reason. In 1975, Waits said in an interview that "poetry is a very dangerous word." He prefers, he says, to think of his work as a "an improvisational adventure or an inebriational travelogue."
Photographer Michael O'Brien is compiling an anthology of portraits of homelessness and has tapped Waits to write accompanying poetry for the images. The volume will be titled Hard Ground and apparently takes its inspiration structurally from the James Agee / Walter Evans classic Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, which did the same with Depression-era farmers.
Nice to know Waits' poetry is as optimistic as his songs!

Stage West presents Liz Lochhead's wry and funny Good Things.
49-year-old Susan is going through what is generally described as a bit of a rough patch. Her husband has left her for a much younger woman, she has lost her job, her father is slipping into senility, and her teenage daughter is behaving like-well-a teenager.
Now she's volunteering in a resale shop, and maintaining a (mostly) cheerful determination not to fall into victimhood, in Liz Lochhead's comedy Good Things, beginning Thursday, October 29 at Stage West's Vickery playhouse.
Susan's co-workers, the nurturing and possibly gay Frazer, and the micro-managing Marjorie, are eager to see Susan's life sorted out in appropriately fairy-tale fashion. They've encouraged her attempts at online and speed-dating, though she herself is less than enthusiastic. It hasn't worked out very well so far; she's currently having to dodge the attentions of one particularly creepy match-up. And then into the shop comes David,...
