Time and time again, leading figures have shaped the course of human history through their actions and ideas and left behind a legacy to build the foundation of the future. More often than not, their legacies have been distorted by detractors who sought to serve their own selfish needs, misguiding people in the process. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes focuses on this recurrent trait of human history, and viewers are treated to a reflection of the past through an engaging narrative involving simian characters.
As the fourth installment of the rebooted Planet of the Apes series, the 2024 film proves itself to be a worthy successor to Caesar’s saga by capturing the core essence of human-ape dynamics, which is made intriguing thanks to the subverted power equation. Additionally, moving away from conventional and expected narrative progression, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes decides to take risks and also benefits from layered characterization,...

The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is finally here, and both fans and critics have had the opportunity to voice their opinions on the movie and will be able to do it in the upcoming weeks. The Planet of the Apes reboot franchise has been one of the most successful reboots in history, with the new trilogy becoming a critical and commercial success. Now, a new trilogy set 300+ years after the first one is in the works, and it seemed that 20th Century Studios was taking a big risk with this new trilogy, but as things stand now – the risk had paid off!
Namely, as per the earlier critics’ reviews, the film has already been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 82% rating after 164 reviews. The fans are also very satisfied with the movie, as it seems, with the movie having an identical rating among fans as well.

This article contains spoilers for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes."
Wes Ball's "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" isn't a reboot of the beloved franchise, nor is it a direct sequel to the most recent trilogy, but instead a standalone sequel set hundreds of years after the time of Caesar, the evolved patriarchal leader played by Andy Serkis. Caesar in this series differs from the character played by Roddy McDowell in the original, as this version sees apes and humans as unlikely equals rather than inherently viewing the latter as subservient, and even lets fellow ape Koba fall to his death for ruining the chance for apes and humans to have peace.
Humans are being ravaged by the simian flu, a condition that allows the apes to flourish from an evolutionary standpoint but wipes out a majority of humanity. Those that survive due to genetic immunity splinter into small communities,...

When it was first announced that the Planet of the Apes franchise was going to get the reboot treatment back in the now-Jurassic era of 2011, you could feel a familiar cynicism kick in: Great, another recognizable intellectual property getting trotted out for a quick cash grab, just in time for a corporate quarterly report. We’d finally washed the ashy taste of that ill-advised Tim Burton remake from 2001 out of mouths, and now Warners was going back to the ’70s pop culture well, ready to ransack musty nostalgia from chimpan-a to chimpan-z.

Franklin J. Schaffner's 1968 sci-fi classic "Planet of the Apes" introduces its titular primates in a gloriously nightmarish fashion. The film's central astronaut trio, lost on a distant planet (wink), finds panicked, mute humans running through a field of tall grass, fleeing attackers on horseback. The camera then zooms dizzily into the face of one of said attackers, revealing that he is, in fact, a gorilla. This world, we see, is topsy-turvy. It is a place where humans and apes are transposed, with the former treated like animals by the latter. Schaffner, and screenwriters Michael Wilson and Rod Serling, present this tilted universe as a conduit for satire, a means to dissect and examine the foibles of humanity via the absurd -- even whimsical -- image of talking ape men. The film may end on a bleak note, but there's some levity mixed into the very batter.

Wes Ball is ready to rumble with his upcoming release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. After the reboot trilogy with Andy Serkis’ Ceasar in the lead came to an end, Ball took on the reigns with new characters and a new story but set in the same (or at least similar) world. This time, instead of Ceasar, we have Noa, a young chimpanzee hunter at the heart of the story, played by Owen Teague.

Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features just matches this week. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Tony Nese and Ari Daivari def. Lane Summers and Campbell Myers
My Thoughts: This was an incredibly dull opening match and a squash match at that too. Nese and Daivari are, unfortunately, pretty much charisma-free and that doesn’t help their matches in the slightest; and with this match we didn’t even get any words from Mark Sterling to cover that fact up!
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir def. Briar and Sage Hale
My Thoughts: This was another squash match from the team of Rose and Shafir. Interestingly, Jon Moxley revealed on a podcast this week that he’s been working with Shafir to try and...

As much as we love television, not everything makes the grade.
It can be difficult when a show we love betrays its characters for the sake of drama or when certain aspects feel phoned-in.
From awful characters, overly traumatic plotlines, terrible episodes, and more -- sometimes we have to call it as we see it.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 4 - "Gently Falling Rain" (Hulu)
Of the numerous problematic plot lines The Orville introduced, the Planetary Union's interactions with the Krill are the worst.
Specifically, Captain Mercer commits mass murder aboard a Krill ship, then unknowingly becomes emotionally and physically involved with a Krill spy, and then tops it off with some general war crimes.
As if that wasn't enough, the writers somehow thought adding a child to the mix was a good idea -- one born of Mercer and Teleya's relationship before she was revealed to be a Krill survivor of the Yakar.

Holiday favorite “A Christmas Story” is the tale of a typical boy Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) as he deals with the typical struggles kids face during the Christmas season. One of the many thorns in his side during the film is his issues with bullies Scut and Grover Dill, played by Zack Ward and Yano Anaya, who harass him throughout the movie. In order to create real tension between the two and the other child actors, they were kept separate from the rest of the cast, as Ward revealed in a recent interview with Insider.
“Most of the time Yano and I were not hanging out with the other kids. They had different shooting schedules than we did,” Ward said. “[Director Bob Clark] told our parents, ‘I just want Yano and Zack to hang out and be friends, and if possible, without being rude to the other kids, don’t really...

What holiday gift do you get the man who already owns the most iconic building in Christmas film history? His first tattoo, apparently.
Brian Jones, who owns the beloved Cleveland house that served as rambunctious Ralphie Parker’s residence in the 1983 feature “A Christmas Story,” is taking this interview inside of a tattoo parlor, meeting with the artist that will engrave his first ink: the iconic fishnet-sporting leg lamp that’s one of the seasonal staple’s most enduring images. It’s an appropriate graphic for Jones, as he began his unique but popular business by first selling replicas of “Story’s” leggy light fixture.
“Lamp lights, lamp cups, mugs, shot glasses — anything leg lamp is the most popular item in the gift shop,” Jones tells Variety, referencing the entrepreneurial venture he began nearly two decades ago. “I officially started the business in 2003. I sold 500 in the first year while still in the Navy,...

The owner of the property featured in A Christmas Story has told a former cast member to never return to the house.
Actor Yano Anaya – who played Grover Dill in the 1983 holiday classic – visited the famous home where the film was shot earlier this month.
Anaya was snapping photos with fans on the front steps of the house in Cleveland when its owner, Brian Jones, strongly urged the actor to leave.
In a video obtained by TMZ, Jones can be heard saying: “Get the f*** out! Leave, now.”
He continued: “Get away from my property. Don’t ever come here again. Never, ever again! Leave now!”
The pair got into a heated argument as Jones called Anaya a “piece of s***”.
“You’re trying to get people to donate for stuff? What is wrong with you? You know how much you f***ed me over? You have no f***ing idea!

Actor Yano Anaya, who’s best known for his role in the 1983 holiday classic “A Christmas Story”, was recently banned from visiting the famous house where the film was shot.
On Nov. 15, Anaya, who starred as Grover Dill in the family comedy, was taking photos with fans on the front steps of the Cleveland property when homeowner, Brian Jones, suddenly appeared, urging the actor to leave the premises.
“Get the f**k out! Leave, now,” Jones is heard saying in a video obtained by TMZ. “Get away from my property. Don’t ever come here again. Never, ever again! Leave now!”

The house from the 1983 film “A Christmas Story” is up for sale and drawing lots of looky-loos, including an actor from the film, Yano Anaya, who drew some pretty serious ire from the home’s owner when he was caught taking photos with fans on the property.
In a video obtained by TMZ that was shot on Nov. 15, Anaya, who played Grover in the film, can be seen taking photos with what appears to be fans of the film outside on the house’s porch steps. Suddenly, the owner — reportedly named Brian Jones — yells at Anaya, telling him to leave pronto.
“Get the f—k off my house, now! Get the f—k out of here. I’m not kidding,” Jones is heard screaming in the footage. Anaya, seeming confused, begins to step down, but Jones continues to yell. “Beat it! Get the f—k out. Leave now! Get away...

This article contains spoilers for The Orville: New Horizons season 3.
Creator Seth MacFarlane and his team accomplished an amazing third season with The Orville: New Horizons, and did so with so many outside factors affecting production. Despite the pandemic, interruptions in filming, and Fox being bought by Disney, season three is arguably the show’s strongest season in terms of storytelling. Most notably, the writers often seemed as if they were playing the “long game,” setting up new plots for the future, and incorporating several throwbacks from previous episodes.
As of now, there is no announcement as to whether or not The Orville will set sail into the stars for a fourth season, but if it doesn’t, there are several of those story threads that may forever remain loose ends. Here are some reasons why we hope The Orville returns.
