Is the decade-long “The Voice” Instant Save curse about to be broken? If John Legend‘s Florida singer Omar Jose Cardona ends up winning Season 22 during the Tuesday, December 13 finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by social media users. Since the creation of the Instant Save twist in Season 6, none of its recipients have ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished near the bottom of their respective finales.

Season 21 of The Voice has been a roller-coaster ride for viewers. Excellent singers like Team John Legend’s Samuel Harness have been eliminated. Dubious ones like Team Ariana Grande’s Jim and Sasha Allen have gotten further than arguably they should’ve. And somehow Team Legend’s superlative Jershika Maple was forced to sing for the Wildcard Instant Save during Tuesday’s Semi-Finals Results Show.
At least she did, in fact, win the Instant Save.

By now, we’ve all said it before, and at least I’ll say it again: Season 20 of The Voice has come down to a two-contestant sing-off between Team Blake Shelton’s spectacular Cam Anthony and Team Kelly Clarkson’s dang-likable Kenzie Wheeler.

Usually, when a new season of The Voice rolls around, I get nervous — partly because I’m a generally nervous person, partly because covering the show is a big weekly time commitment. Plus, even though I’ve been recapping it since Season 12, I still have to look up how to format posts for the Blinds vs. the Battles vs. the Knockouts. Every. Single. Time.
But as Season 19 got underway Monday (read my recap), I realized something strange: I wasn’t anxious at all, I was relieved. I was excited. I was… Wait, was I happy? In fact, I was. This year,...

As The Voice’s Season 18 Blind Auditions continued Monday, Mike Jerel got John Legend and Nick Jonas to turn their chairs almost as fast as Kelly Clarkson does whenever she recognizes a song. By the time the 31-year-old Georgian was done with his soulful rendition of “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World,” all four coaches were facing him, and a battle royal was about to break out to see which of them was going to successfully recruit the showman, who went so far as to call his mother on stage to help make the momentous decision.

It’s official: There’s a curse on “The Voice” Instant Save.
Ever since this twist was created back in Season 6, no artist that’s been saved by Twitter or brought back via a wild card has ever gone on to win the show. Even more troubling, all of the Instant Save recipients have placed last in their respective finales aside from Britton Buchanan, who defied the odds to place second to Brynn Cartelli in Season 14. This year Andrew Sevener of Team Blake Shelton tried his hardest to break the curse but he, too, ended up placing last in Tuesday’s season finale.

“The Voice” coach Adam Levine returned to his chair for season 16, which had its premiere Monday on NBC. The Maroon 5 frontman has been a coach for all 15 seasons of the show. However, he didn’t get anyone from his team in last season’s final following the elimination of Reagan Strange in the semi-final.

Chevel Shepherd won “The Voice” on Tuesday in one of the biggest upset in the show’s 15 seasons. We asked viewers what they thought of this win by Kelly Clarkson‘s last remaining artist in the competition. Chevel Shepherd won “The Voice” on Tuesday thanks in large part to her performance of the new song “Broken Hearts” on Monday’s season 15 final. This teen talent pulled off this upset just hours after landing at the top of the iTunes chart with her rendition of a song that her coach, Kelly Clarkson, had originally intended to record. Watch her sing this song that Kelly had planned to record in the video above.
While Chevel hit #1, two of her rivals for the title of the winner of season 15 of “The Voice” were right behind. Both of Blake Shelton‘s artists did well with sales: Kirk Jay was at #2 with “Defenseless” while Chris Kroeze was at #3 with “Human.” (The fourth artist in the running — Kennedy Holmes of Team Jennifer Hudson — made it to #11 with her cover of “Confident.”)
Chevel’s duet with Kelly, “Rockin’ With the Rhythm of the Rain” made it to #9 on iTunes.

“Thank you so much to everyone who voted for my girl Chevel Shepherd, and for that matter for simply voting,” Kelly Clarkson tweeted just hours after her 16-year-old country singer won “The Voice.” Chevel had been predicted to finish in third place, so it was a bit of a shocker when host Carson Daly announced her as the 15th winner of NBC’s singing competition. Two weeks ago “The Voice” contestant DeAndre Nico made headlines when his coach, Adam Levine, cruelly threw him under the bus so that fellow teammate Reagan Strange could advance instead. Adam’s actions resulted in many viewers asking for his reality TV resignation. To make matters worse, Reagan was eliminated the following week and so Adam entered the Season 15 finale without a single artist still in the game. During Tuesday’s results show, DeAndre returned to “The Voice” stage for the first time since his controversial elimination (watch above).

Listen, we had every intention of telling you who won The Voice tonight, but then NBC went and had Brendon Urie perform in the middle of the show, so we just watched and rewatched that for an hour. Cool? Cool. Just kidding. Sort of. We skimmed through the rest of the show and its many, many, many performances, making sure we gave each finalist their moment. In particular, we were here for 14 year-old Team Jennifer contestant Kennedy Holmes, whose stage presence overtook every single other contestant's every step of the way, and then she landed in fourth place despite landing in first in our poll yesterday. Team Blake's Kirk Jay then took third place, and it was down to Team Blake's Chris...

Tuesday’s Season 15 finale of The Voice promised to be a real nail-biter. Kirk Jay, heretofore the frontrunner, had had an off night Monday, and Kennedy Holmes had turned in not one, not two but three dazzling performances. They were so good, in fact, that my praise got me accused of being biased. (I think all my enthusiasm for her means is that I prefer contestants who sing like a dream and don’t stand on stage like they’ve been hit by a freeze ray.) But, considering that just last week, the 14-year-old had had to fight for the Instant Save,...

If Kennedy Holmes wins, it means a first ever U.S. championship for coach Jennifer Hudson, although she has won in Great Britain. And a trophy for either Kirk Jay or Chris Kroeze means a seventh career victory for coach Blake Shelton. Coach Adam Levine does not have contenders remaining for this autumn cycle.

With just hours to go before the Season 15 winner of “The Voice” is crowned, finalist Chevel Shepherd has good reason to celebrate. Teenaged country singer Chevel Shepherd helped close down the performance portion of The Voice’s 15th season Monday night, channeling Tanya Tucker for the two-stepping fun of “It’s a Little Too Late.” Playing the part of a honky-tonk princess and backed by a twangy group of instruments, Shepherd poured theatrical sass all over Tucker’s 1993 jukebox anthem, all about blowing off some steam in the wake of a bad breakup.

Chevel Shepherd could pull off the biggest upset in the history of “The Voice” and win season 15 over frontrunners Kirk Jay and Kennedy Holmes, according to 22% of the viewers of Monday’s finale. They give the edge to this talented teen from New Mexico because she is the only singer from Team Kelly Clarkson still in the competition. Those backing Chevel remember that coach Kelly is the reigning champ on “The Voice.”
At her blind audition, Chevel impressed Kelly, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton with her cover “If I Die Young.” She opted to work with her idol, Kelly. Chevel was then pitted against two other artists on Team Clarkson. In each instance Kelly went with her, first in the Battle round when she and Mikele Buck sang “You Look So Good in Love and then in the Knockouts where her performance of “Travelin’ Soldier” outdid that of Sarah Grace.

Kennedy Holmes is poised to pull off an upset and win season 15 of “The Voice” over frontrunner Kirk Jay, according to 38% of the viewers of Monday’s finale. They give the edge to this 14-year-old because she is the only non-country singer still in the competition. Kennedy is set to make history in two ways: as the youngest-ever winner of “The Voice” and the first for coach Jennifer Hudson.

Kennedy was then pitted against two other artists on Team Hudson. Kirk Jay will win season 15 of “The Voice” for coach Blake Shelton according to the predictions of more than one-third of the viewers of the live finale on December 17. This 22-year old country singer from Alabama wowed the crowd with three outstanding performances on Monday’s show and registered 34% in our instant poll. He would be the seventh contestant coached to victory on “The Voice” by Blake.
All four coaches wanted this soulful singer for their team after his rendition of “God Bless the Broken Road” in the blind auditions. He opted to work with his hero, Blake. Kirk was then pitted against two other artists on Team Shelton. In each instance Blake went with him, first in the Battle round when he and Caeland Garner sang “Let it Rain” and then in the Knockouts where his performance of “In Case You Didn’t Know” outdid that of Colton Smith.

Adam Levine was stuck on the sidelines on “The Voice” final on December 17. Without an artist in the Top 4, he was reduced to making comments while the other three coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton — each took to the stage to do duets with their would-be winners. That Blake had two acts in contention for the season 15 title while Adam had none must have really rankled the Maroon 5 frontman.
You see Blake has won the show twice as many times as Adam (6 to 3) in their first 14 seasons on the show. The most recent of those victories for Blake was in season 13 when Chloe Kohanksi prevailed over Levine’s last top 4 finalist, Addison Agen. He could well claim his seventh title on Tuesday.

The Top 4 artists from season 15 of “The Voice” sang three songs apiece on Monday’s final. Which of these four do you think sounds most like a winner? After reviewing their performances throughout this season of “The Voice” vote in our poll as to your choice for champ and we will report back with your rankings.
Blake Shelton is hoping that one of his two acts — Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze — will win him a seventh championship. Kelly Clarkson coached the winner in her debut season on “The Voice” in the spring and is looking to Chevel Shepherd to defend her title. Jennifer Hudson didn’t make it to the Top 4 in her rookie season as a coach last year and wants a win this time around with Kennedy Holmes. Blake Shelton‘s blues singer Chris Kroeze from Barron, Wisconsin had three final chances to influence America during Monday’s “The Voice” Season 15 finale, but which one of his performances was the best? Well, Voice fans, it’s been a long and bumpy road. Over the course of Season 15, we’ve seen good singers cut too soon (SandyRedd, Kameron Marlowe, etc.) and mediocre ones cut too late (Tyke James, Reagan Strange, etc.). And we’ve sat through so many of Carson Daly’s inane questions for the contestants that we’ve all but given up groaning like Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers when he asks ’em. But Monday night,...
