Nicole Zignago’s new album Escrita is like an audio version of her most intimate diary entries. On Friday, the Peruvian pop singer released an 11-track debut LP that captures her introspections and experiences with love and heartache over the last six years.
“I’ve realized over the years that I would rather see my reflection on paper than in the mirror, because I seem blurry when I look in the mirror. I see myself through the judgment of others and my own,” she tells Rolling Stone. “Seeing myself in...

Pepe.In 2009, a male hippopotamus was killed in Colombia by German hunters under authorization of the local authorities. Nicknamed Pepe by the press—after Los Pepes, a paramilitary group that opposed Pablo Escobar—the hippo was part of a small herd of pachyderms originally brought to the country from southern Africa in the late 1970s by the notorious drug lord. Escobar kept the hippos on his estate until 1993 when he was gunned down by US and Colombian special forces, whereupon they were left to wander free from the property. Today, there are over 100 of these so-called “cocaine hippos” living in Colombia’s Magdalena River Valley.Pepe (2024), the fourth feature by Dominican director Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, takes this stranger-than-fiction story as the jumping-off point for reimagining Pepe’s journey from the frontiers of South West Africa to the tropics of Estación Cocorná, where a pair of fishermen attempt...

Craving intimacy after a difficult breakup is one of the worst feelings.
On Friday, Nicole Zignago released her single “Mimos” alongside Camilo, and premiered its gorgeous video, directed by Camilo’s wife Eva Luna Montaner, with Rolling Stone. The track hears the two stars singing about the often toxic back-and-forth following a difficult romantic split.
“For the video’s concept, I gave free rein to Eva Luna so she could experiment,” Zigango tells Rolling Stone. “I admire her very much as a person, as a mother, as a friend, as a director.

In “Pepe,” Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias tells the story of a very special hippopotamus. Or rather, he allows the hippopotamus to tell the story himself.
“Pablo Escobar brought three hippos to Colombia back in 1981. He was ‘the pioneer’ among drug lords investing in exotic pets. When he had to abandon his mansion [Naples Estate] and flee, there were so many of them. Lions, elephants,” recounts the Dominican director.
But it was the hippos that managed to adapt to their new environment, taking advantage of South American rivers.
“It’s the first wild herd outside of Africa. Initially, there was this alpha male Pablito and Pepe fought him and he lost. He was the first male who left the herd. To the people who saw him, he seemed like a monster!”
Soon, a hunt was well on its way.

There was plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Latin Grammys this year. For the first time, the award show was planned in Sevilla, Spain, a cross-continental move that sparked plenty of debate.
The European country has had a complicated place with the awards show, and prior to the ceremony, fans pointed out it’s not part of Latin America — though the Latin Grammys have always considered all music, as long as it’s 51 percent in Spanish. It’s Rauw Alejandro’s planet and we’re just living in it. The Puerto Rican reggaeton star just took the stage at the Latin Grammys in Seville, Spain Thursday to perform a medley of songs, along with a tribute to Laura Pausini and a performance with Juanes.
Rauw opened his performance with a pre-recorded, autotune-supported rendition of Pausini’s ballad “Se Fue” while surrounded by candles and a ring of fire. (Was that aimed at Rosalía?)

As a teenager, Edgar Barrera used to work at his local mall, folding clothes. But Barrera was the kind of guy who wanted to be employee of the month. If he was going to fold clothes, he wanted to be the best at it. So it’s no surprise that decades later, after becoming the Latin industry’s go-to songwriter and producer, his work ethic has helped him stand out — so much, in fact, that he’s nominated for more than 13 Latin Grammys this year, more than any other artist.

International artist and five-time Latin Grammy® winner and three-time Grammy® nominee Camilo premiered the official video for his latest single “Palpita” on YouTube, a collaboration with Punjabi music star Diljit Dosanjh.
The video, directed by Jon Primo, who has directed videos for global music artists like Nicki Minaj, Diddy and Doja Cat to name a few, has been shot on the outskirts of Los Angeles, is as unique as “Palpita” itself, with both artists performing in the middle of a desert, displaying an aesthetic that seamlessly complements the fusion of rhythms, cultures, and messages contained in the song.

Fatherhood has completely transformed Camilo's life. Last September, the Colombian Grammy-winning singer released his third studio album, "De Adentro Pa' Afuera," shortly after his wife, singer-songwriter Evaluna Montaner, gave birth to their daughter Indigo.

The Latin Grammys are arguably the highest recognition in Hispanic music around the world. This year the award show will likely host some of the biggest and most acclaimed Latin stars. With names like Shakira, Karol G, and Rauw Alejandro all in the mix, who will nab some noms come nomination’s day?
The biggest name in Latin music right now is Karol G. The Colombian singer has made history with her album “Mañana Será Bonito” becoming the first all-Spanish album by a female artist to top the Billboard 200. She is already a two-time Latin Grammy winner, and since she’s likely the biggest urban music star of the season, it’s likely she picks up a couple of awards in the field. However, I don’t know whether she will be able to take home a general field award. Bad Bunny couldn’t last year, and his album was...

There's a new plot formula settling into Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 15 wherein the solution for a mission's success requires Ben to pull together the strings of different problems.
It's a nice knock-on effect that suggests that small successes often build to something greater. This may also be the key to the season's long-arc mystery: What motivated Ben to leap in the first place?
Additionally, there's a message embedded here that "good enough" shouldn't be, especially when it means a life-changing decision like pleading guilty to causing a death when you didn't.
The harsh reality of working as a public defender is depressing and disheartening when presented without a laugh track à la Night Court.
It's a perspective few see as the defendants get their seven minutes with their free attorney. Whatever justice they get is balanced against the judge's mood, the prosecutor's ambition, and the number of other cases on the docket that day.

Bowing Feb. 15 on Netflix, “Eva Lasting” hit its Top 10 in 14 countries across much of Latin America, scoring a global Top 10 berth, and now prompting the platform to order a second season just days after its release.
A high-end Caracol TV production that puts on full display the benefits of streamer backing, the sleek 13-episode show, directed by Mateo Stivelberg and Maria Gamboa, taps into the comforts that Latin American telenovelas have accustomed their audiences to while finding solid and sometimes new narrative ground in its runtime.
Set at a 1976 Bogotá against the background of Colombia’s rampant modernization, the story follows Camilo (Emmanuel Restrepo) and his group of friends in a public boys school whose lives are irreparably changed when Eva (Francisca Estévez) becomes its first female student. Keenly aware of the tropes invoked down the decades by this kind of premise, the showplaces with them while giving color and depth to its characters.

Eva Lasting (La Primera Vez) is a Colombian teen series created by Dago García starring Emmanuel Restrepo and Francisca Estévez Navas.
Eva Lasting is one of those series that finds its inspiration in great tv successes like “Those Marvelous Years” and similar ones that make memories of better times a great chance to re-live them, make us listen to songs of those times, good settings and sure-fire use of a terrain in which you either do very badly or you succeed and have an assured audience because, more than listening to this story they come to tell, what they are up to is re-living their own story.
