Back in 1999, directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez brought the world The Blair Witch Project (watch it Here), a low budget film that was a massive box office hit, leading to a poorly received sequel that was released the following year and a sequel that most movie-goers ignored when it was released in 2016. Sánchez is currently doing the press rounds for the horror anthology Satanic Hispanics, which he contributed to and is set to reach theatres on September 14th. While doing his part to build the hype for that movie, Sánchez sat down for an interview with the Cult FM podcast, and during that conversation he not only talked about the unmade Blair Witch prequels that he and Myrick had in mind, but also said that – as far as he knows – there are no new Blair Witch projects in the works at Lionsgate.

Blumhouse Productions has a number of movies on the radar, but their riskiest and most ambitious in the company’s 20+-year existence may be this fall’s The Exorcist sequel, at least according to founder Jason Blum.
The main reason for this stems from Universal and Peacock shelling out around $400 million for the rights, which are expected to spawn an entire trilogy. And none of that even factors into the actual production budget. As per IndieWire, Blum stated, “It’s so expensive. Usually the bar to success on everything we do because it’s inexpensive is incredibly low. For The Exorcist, it’s high.” Blum then clarified, saying, “It’s not high risk for Blumhouse…We’ve obviously already been paid, but it’s high risk for our partners. So when you ask me what the riskiest thing we’ve ever worked on is, I take that as for us or our financial partners.

I didn’t realize it has been so long, but a year and a half has already gone by since writer/director Macon Blair wrapped production on his remake of the Troma cult classic The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here). Almost a year has passed since the movie received an R rating for “strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references and brief graphic nudity“. But while we continue to wait to hear a release date for this new take on The Toxic Avenger, sound editor Casey Genton, who is currently doing the press rounds for his work on John Wick: Chapter 4, said that fans will be “over the moon” for the remake, and teased a scene the cast and crew have referred to as “the butt guts scene”.
Genton told Slash Film, “(The Toxic Avenger remake is) a really funny movie. Macon Blair, the director, I think did...

The Toxic Avenger is coming back to life with a brand new movie from Legendary Entertainment, with Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore, Green Room) directing the remake of the Troma classic. Blair’s take on The Toxic Avenger has been rated “R” for violence and gore, and it’s aiming to please hardcore fans of the wacky Troma franchise.
On that note, the film’s sound editor Casey Genton teases one particular standout scene in a new chat with Slash Film, which is being referred to as… well… the “butt guts” scene.
Genton previews, “It’s a really funny movie. Macon Blair, the director, I think did a really good job with it. When they have tested it, fans of the film have been over the moon. It’s pretty out there. I think it’s a different crack. They’re giving the fans what they want,...

Hitchcock's silents are now on the Memory of the World register – I can think of five others that deserve the same recognition
If, when you consider our national heritage, you think of murder, guilt, sex and cheeky humour – well, somebody out there agrees with you. The decision to add Alfred Hitchcock's nine surviving silent movies to Unesco's UK Memory of the World register puts his early work on a cultural par with the Domesday Book and Field Marshal Douglas Haig's war diaries – also selected for the list this year.
The nine silents were all directed by Hitchcock in the 1920s and include better-known films in the director's classic thriller mode such as The Lodger and Blackmail as well as comedies (Champagne, The Farmer's Wife) a boxing movie (The Ring) and dramas (The Pleasure Garden, Downhill, Easy Virtue and the lush, rustic romance The Manxman). The collection was nominated by the BFI,...

To celebrate what would be the 100th birthday of Mary Blair, Google has replaced its official logo on its homepage today with a colorful doodle inspired by the late Disney artist. The doodle, titled “Mary Blair’s 100th Birthday,” features a caricature of the artist, which replaces the second G in the search engine’s logo. The remaining letters spelling Google are drawn in different colors and designs, as made famous by the artist. Blair contributed artwork to such popular 1950s Disney films as ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Peter Pan.’ She left Disney animation in the mid-50s, but was later hired to work on such theme-park attractions as ‘It’s a Small...

Illustrator worked on a number of children's books and contributed to films Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland
Google has honoured Mary Blair, an artist whose unusual style was immortalised in classic Walt Disney films of the 1940s and 50s, with its latest Google doodle.
Blair, who was born in Oklahoma on 21 October 1911, was best known for the artwork she contributed to animations including Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Cinderella. She also illustrated a number of children's books.
Blair's colourful, childlike images – vaguely reminiscent of the cubist movement – are credited with bringing modern art into popular animation and influencing a generation of illustrators.
Walt Disney was so taken with her designs that he recruited her to work on It's A Small World, an attraction that debuted at the 1964 New York World's Fair and has since been recreated in all of Disney's theme parks.

Twas a year in which sequels (“Toy Story 3,” Iron Man 2″), “originals” (“Inception,” “Despicable Me”) and movies somewhere in between (“Alice in Wonderland”) dominated the box office side-by-side.
But what movies ranked highest where it matters most (you know… in our hearts)?
From thrilling new installments in the behemoth “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” franchises to fascinating prestige films that mined gold from surprising sources like Facebook and ballet, here are our picks for the very best of the best of 2010.
25. ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’
That vampire-werewolf-human love triangle reached hot new heights with its third – and strongest – installment this summer. With the highly anticipated tent scene, the battle against Victoria and the newborns and (swoon) that marriage proposal, the flick was so action-packed, smooch-packed and six-packed, fans’ cries of pure joy are still ringing in our ears. Or maybe those sounds are caused by the fact that we have to...
