Paradox Entertainment has picked up the option on Mike Sorrentino and Randy Vampotic's supernatural actioneer "Speed Demon" says Variety.
Peter Winther (TV's "Leverage" and "The Librarian" telemovies) will direct the story of an underworld enforcer who becomes the prey of a mysterious creature during an assignment to track down a petty crook along a desert highway.
Late special effects genius Stan Winston co-developed the project and worked on the creatures with "Underworld" creature creator Patrick Tatopoulos.
Fredrik Malmberg will produce. Some old concept art from the project can be found at Styd.

Wow, I completely forgot about this project as it has been on the shelf for over three years. Paradox Entertainment, the company bringing Conan back to the bigscreen, has optioned the horror pitch Speed Demon, co-developed by the f/x-vet Stan Winston, for Peter Winther to direct. Winther also developed the project, described as a supernatural actioner about an underworld enforcer, who while hunting a small-time crook on a desert highway discovers that he is also being tracked by a mysterious, terrifying creature. Mike Sorrentino and Randy Vampotic penned the script for the project that Patrick Tatopoulos (the Underworld franchise, I Am Legend) worked with Winston to design creatures for the film.
