Taylor Sheridanʼs curated storytelling has impacted the lives of audiences far and wide, but none have had the kind of cultural effect as Yellowstone and its spin-offs. However, Jeremy Rennerʼs Mayor of Kingstown might come a close second, considering the gruesome storyline that manages to strike a chord with the audience at a molecular level due to Rennerʼs personal and very real tragedy.

Following Jeremy Renner’s snowplow accident last year, many feared that his acting career would be cut short, as his doctors initially said that it’d take him years to get back on his feet again. But thanks to the Hawkeye star’s resilience, the actor was walking within three months and is now set to mark his return to acting with the third season of Mayor of Kingstown.
But despite being in high spirits, the actor wasn’t immune to pain during the four-month production of the upcoming season. However, his costar Emma Laird recalled that Renner didn’t let the issues bring him down and was professional throughout.

“Welcome to Kingstown,” Jeremy Renner’s Mike McLusky says in a cool manner just after a clip of him throwing someone off a roof. No pussyfooting around it, the new trailer of the successful Paramount+ series premieres (courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter) declaring that “He’s back in business.” Fans and well-wishers of Jeremy Renner may have been following his updates on his health recovery since his horrific 2023 snow plow accident. It almost seems like he hasn’t missed a beat as Renner makes his acting debut since the incident for season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown. The actor would even convey his nervousness upon returning to work in social media posts earlier this year, “Day one on set … nervous today. Jeremy Renner is back in business as Mike McLusky, returning as the "mayor" of the prison town known as Kingstown.
After his terrible accident, there were fears that he'd ever fill Mike's shoes again. Those fears were unfounded.
The explosive trailer for the upcoming third season proves he's nimble on his feet but even more potent with his words.
Mayor of Kingstown is a high-adrenaline series about a small town in the business of America’s prison system.
Kingstown is pushed to its limits again and again as rampant crime inside prison walls, and outside has a stranglehold on its population.
Things reached a boiling point in the first season, as a horrifying riot put many at risk.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 saw tensions rise even further as everyone weathered the impact of the riot and how to survive in its aftermath.

Jeremy Renner looks like he hasn’t lost a step in the first full official trailer for the long-awaited third season of Mayor of Kingstown.
Below, Renner is back in business as a Michigan crime boss in the Paramount+ series, which is from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon.
The season marks Renner’s acting comeback following his near-fatal 2023 New Year’s Day snowplow accident. Renner returned to set one year after he was critically injured after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada. He had broken 38 bones and his rib cage was rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs.
But you wouldn’t know it from the new footage.

Taylor Sheridan has proven to be a more than capable writer when it comes to writing women in fiction, with Sicario and Wind River, starring Jeremy Renner, being two major examples. However, Season 1 of Mayor of Kingstown was been heavily dominated by men, but that isn’t to say there weren’t times when female characters were given their moments to shine.
When Hugh Dillon, co-creator of the show, was asked whether we could see more female representation moving forward last year, Dillon’s answer was quite promising.

The Mayor is back in office. Jeremy Renner has been out of commission for a year since having his unfortunate snow plow accident. As it happened at the start of the calendar year, much of his 2023 was spent rehabilitating his body after suffering blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones. Then, earlier this January, Renner teased his return to the set, with great apprehension, when he posted a pic from the production with the caption, “Day one on set … nervous today. Hope this works out that I can Actually pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans.“ Now, the new trailer for season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown has dropped.
The logline for the season reads,
“A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls.
