Star Wars, Terminator 2, Fantastic Beasts and more: they all have scenes in the trailer, that never made the final film...
More often than you might think, scenes that appear in movie trailer don’t turn up in the finished film. This can leave trailer-loving audience members confused as the credits roll, wondering if they dropped off and missed something important.
See related Iron Fist: what to expect from Marvel’s Netflix hero Luke Cage smashed Marvel's 2016 Netflix ratings Daredevil season 3: Vincent D’Onofrio mulls Fisk's return Marvel's The Defenders: more images arrive
A couple of massive movies have done this recently, and the internet has been quick to fill in the blanks with speculation. Fingers have been pointed at tinkering studio bigwigs and extensive reshoots, when the reality is often a little less dramatic: filmmakers always chop some footage in the edit, and they rarely have much involvement in the trailers.

Rhea Bailey has no regrets about swapping Los Angeles for 'Coronation Street'. The 32-year-old actress - who stars as Kate Connor's lesbian fiancée Caz in the soap - has spent the past five years trying to establish herself in Hollywood, but ultimately landed a life-changing role when she was visiting her mum back in Leeds. She shared: ''I'd spent five years in La and I'd come close to three life-changing acting jobs this year. But when they didn't land I felt I needed to take a break for the summer. In this weekend’s specialty box-office debuts, IFC Films hopes to replicate the critical and commercial success of Michael Winterbottom’s first amusing little travelogue/talker of a feature, The Trip, with a semi-sequel, The Trip To Italy. The second Trip again stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon; the entertainingly garrulous pair on yet another jaunt across restaurants, countryside and philosophy. The latest Trip will bow in NYC and La this weekend after a successful Australian run earlier this summer (or their winter).

WWII continues to be rich dramatic territory for filmmakers for a number of reasons, not only because it's one of the most important events in modern history, but also due to the many avenues from which a global conflagration can be viewed. But writer and co-director Kate Connor's debut feature "Fort McCoy" is an example of what happens when you try to shoehorn as many topics and themes from WWII as you can into one movie. Overstuffed, trite and empty, "Fort McCoy" attempts to mix heavy drama, slapstick comedy and romance in the unwieldy package of a coming of age story set in the summer of 1944. The film flounders on all fronts, proffering a naive and simplistic view of the murky territory between good and evil. It's hard to give the movie a logline, as there's not so much of a single defined plot, but rather many underdeveloped subplots...

Title: Gone Doggy Gone Directors: Kasi Brown, Brandon Walter Starring: Shaina Vorspan, Kasi Brown, Brandon Walter, Kate Connor, Jeff Sloniker, Richard Riehle, Jordan Hendricks An amusing, madcap blend of social satire, character comedy and well-worn road trip tropes, ”Gone Doggy Gone,” co-written and directed by Kasi Brown and Brandon Walter, unfolds against the backdrop of a kidnapped canine. The low-budget indie film, playing this Friday at the Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles, effectively winds up a bunch of characters who are by degrees self-centered, delusional and inept, and then spends the remainder of its 89-minute running time bouncing them off one another at odd angles, like rubber balls in a stairwell. After a success festival circuit run that included Boston, Cannes Independent, Rhode Island, Savannah and more, the U.S. and Canadian rights to "Fort McCoy" were acquired today by Monterey Media. Based on a true story, the film centers on a family living next to a Nazi Pow camp in Wisconsin during World War II. Writer and co-director Kate Connor stars as the central figure's wife, based on her real-life grandmother. The cast also includes Eric Stoltz ("Pulp Fiction"), Lyndsy Fonseca ("Kick-Ass"), Camryn Manheim ("Ghost Whisperer") and Wes Anderson favorite Seymour Cassel. "We are thrilled to be working with Monterey Media with their rich tradition of championing beautiful award-winning films" said Connor. "Not only is it a personal film involving the history of my family, but it is our collective history as Americans, so we can’t wait to bring this untold story to a wider American audience with Monterey.

Ashley Miller and Zack Stenz are going to bring Terminator back to TV to go along with the reboot in Paramount’s attempt at a Marvel-like unified franchise.
The thing is, Terminator already has a bunch of time travel going on, the very thing that is going to revitalize the X-Universe.
So, in honor of a bunch of crazy new time travel, let’s look at the current state of the Terminator Timelines. They are many and they are confusing.

Troll Hunter director Andre Øvredal has signed on to his first Hollywood feature film. Empire reports that the Norwegian director is attached to direct Carpe Demon: The Adventures Of A Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, which is being adapted from Julie Kenner's book.
The project reminds me of an adult version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Its story follows "Kate Connor, a woman living a life of suburban domesticity and trying to put her secret past as a slayer of demons firmly behind her. Except that her plan comes undone when underworld denizens start surfacing in her adopted hometown of San Diablo."
The book is the first of five installments to date, with Carpe Demon being followed by California Demon, Demons Are Forever, Deja Demon, and Demon Ex Machina. Dan and Kevin Hagerman (Hotel Transylvania) penned the screenplay. A start date and cast have yet to be announced.

With found footage movies like Chronicle and Project X hitting theaters recently, there's one that might have slipped past your radar - a Norwegian film called Trollhunter. The handheld mockumentary followed a group of kids through the countryside as they hunted trolls, and the film (now on Netflix Instant) had a quiet release last year. That film's director, Andre Øvredal, has just has a Hollywood project, and he's staying in the fantasy realm with this one, too. Empire reports he'll be adapting Julie Kenner's best-seller Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom and Chris Columbus is producing. Carpe Demon will follow housewife Kate Connor while she keeps her demon-hunting past a secret from her family and deals with a new threat at the same time. We can only presume that this is the first in a planned franchise, since Carpe Demon is the first book in a series...

André Øvredal put out a confident and well-crafted solo debut with 2011′s TrollHunter, the kind of foreign film with enough international appeal to get those American remake rights set up with a big studio. We can (and did) rightfully grumble about the plans to take what worked just fine with subtitles, remove the arduous task of reading, and pack some stars in, but there is one silver lining to this small cloud: Øvredal gets his foot in Hollywood’s door.
Chris Columbus, producer behind the TrollHunter remake, will also throw his weight around for the man’s American debut, which Moviehole (via ThePlaylist) tells us is the film adaptation of Julie Kenner‘s Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom. Said to have the “the fun and punchy tone” of Øvredal‘s last effort — a bigger budget presumably and hopefully notwithstanding — Demon centers on, as the title would indicate,...

With international genre cinema currently in a very healthy state, Hollywood executives are spoiled for choices when it comes to finding foreign filmmakers to bring something fresh to U.S. studio fare. Indeed, stick your head in a multiplex these days and it's hard to find a movie that isn't directed by someone who made their name with a relatively low-budget European horror or crime flick, from "Let The Right One In" director Tomas Alfredson's "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" to "Snabba Cash" helmer Daniel Espinosa's "Safe House."
It's showing no sign of letting up anytime soon, with upcoming fare like "The Cold Light of Day," "Lockout" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" all coming from those who've made their names abroad first. And the latest to join them is Andre Øvredal, the Norwegian director who first made waves with the sleeper hit "Trollhunter" last year.

So, let's say that you're a young Norwegian director whose debut film became something of a cult phenomenon among those with a taste for horror comedies, so much so that it is currently being guided towards a Us remake by the guy who wrote The Goonies and Gremlins. What next? Simple enough: You sign up to direct your first English language film - also a horror comedy - with that same guy producing. And that's exactly what Trollhunter director Andre Ovredal has done, signing up to direct a Christopher Columbus produced adaptation of Julie Kenner's novel Carpe Demon.Lots of women put their careers aside once the kids come along. It's not unusual for directors of breakout international hits to be lured to Hollywood, and Troll Hunter director Andre Øvredal is the latest to join the club. He's just signed on for Carpe Demon: The Adventures Of A Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, adapted from the book by Julie Kenner. First published in 2005, the novel is the first in a series (franchise!) about Kate Connor, a woman living a life of suburban domesticity and trying to put her secret past as a slayer of demons firmly behind her. Except that her plan comes undone when underworld denizens start surfacing in her adopted hometown of San Diablo (well, with that name she really should have known). In short, it's a kind of Buffy-as-grown-up affair: Whatever Happened To Buffy?, if you like. There are five instalments to date, with Carpe Demon being followed by California Demon, Demons Are Forever, Deja Demon and Demon Ex Machina.

When you direct a movie with a title like “Trollhunter” it isn’t a huge jump to imagine directing something called “Carpe Demon: The Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom”. I can see some correlation. And that is exactly what Andre Overdal is going to do. “Carpe Demon”, which also happens to be the name of an episode of “Charmed” (don’t ask me how I know that), is based on a novel by Julie Kenner, part of the “Kate Connor, Demon Hunter” series. You get a good idea of what the story is all about from the title, the major points anyway, but the tagline is pretty good: “Carpools. Crabgrass. Creatures from the depths of hell. Suburbia has its problems too…” Here’s what Barnes and Noble has to say about the book: Lots of women put their careers aside once the kids come along. Kate Connor, for instance,...

Most people don.t know, or at least know very little, about the Pow camps that the United States
maintained during World War II. Numbering in the hundreds, in nearly every state of the Union, these
camps at their peak housed almost half a million German and Japanese prisoners. Films based on these
camps have been few (Summer Of My German Soldier, Farewell To Manzanar, Come See The

Drawing on a true story from the home front during World War II, writer-co-director-producer-star Kate Connor relays a tale known well to her family. At the Fort McCoy Army Base in Wisconsin, Connor’s mother’s family came into contact with German and Japanese prisoners-of-war when her father was stationed there to work as a barber, exposing her to particularly unique political viewpoints.
Gertie (Gara Lonning), the character based on Connor’s mother and the narrative voice in the film, is surrounded by her father Frank Stirn (played with restraint by Eric Stoltz), his wife Ruby (a role undertaken by Connor herself), Ruby’s sister Anna (Lyndsy Fonseca) and Gertie’s younger brother.

Apparently, Spider-Man and Terminator were nothing compared to the intensity of joining the Twilight universe. Howard admitted to MTV that making Eclipse was more intense than the others.

James Cameron apparently does not have the same vision with William Wisher, who partnered him in writing the scripts for first and second "Terminator" films. While the scribe has offered his idea for the possible "Terminator 5" and "Terminator 6", Cameron shows no interest to work on the franchise anymore.
"I have stepped so far away from the 'Terminator' universe," he told MTV during an interview, before adding "I'm happy with that. I made a decision a way's back to just let it have its life, you know?" Frankly speaking, the "Titanic" director claimed, "From my perspective, it's run its course and I don't know what else to say that hasn't been said."
He further explained, "Plus, frankly... the soup's kind of been pissed in a little bit by other filmmakers, so I don't have any personal desire to go back to it. So I certainly wouldn't want to...

Now that Pacificor has landed the rights to "Terminator" franchise, it is time to talk about the future of the next film. Before being asked, William Wisher apparently has worked on the writing for "Terminator 5" as well as "Terminator 6". Deadline Hollywood which recently met the filmmaker had a chance to read a detailed 24-page treatment for the fifth film, and a 4-page concept outline for the sixth one.
According to the site, Wisher's ideas take place in a post-apocalyptic battleground. He also turns the story back to the core characters so he factors in an element of time travel that allows for Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese to interact. The scribe, who worked with James Cameron in "The Terminator" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", also plans a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that is as suprising as his swift from villain in the first film to John Connor's bodyguard in the second one.

Bryce Dallas Howard has made a name for herself by playing roles originally played by someone else. She played Grace Margeret Mulligan in Manderlay (Nicole Kidman originated the character in Dogville), Kate Connor in Terminator: Salvation (originated by Clair Danes in Terminator 3: Rise Of The MacHines), and she will take over the role of Victoria (originally played by Rachelle Lefevre) in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which will be released in June of 2010.

ComingSoon.net got a chance to talk to Bryce Dallas Howard at the press day for The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond where she was asked about possibly returning as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 4 and Kate Connor in another "Terminator" film, taking over the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and her new script, The Originals . Q: Will your character Gwen have a big role in "Spider-Man 4?" Bryce Dallas Howard: Oh goodness! I don't know. I mean, it was really made clear to me when we all did "Spider-Man 3" that it was entirely possible that a character could come back or a character could not and this could be just a specific plotline to that film because there's so many stories in the comic book series and you want to pack as much...

While the fate of "Terminator" franchise rights is yet to be known at least until February 2010 and the future of the film series is still in doubt, McG still plans another "Terminator" film. During the Bd-Live commentary on "Terminator Salvation", the director announced that he is making a sequel to the Christian Bale-starring movie.
Moreover, McG has had an idea to feature Sarah Connor in the next film, "but he's not sure how he's going to pull that off," Jason Chen from Gizmodo reported. The helmer went on teasing fans by saying that he wanted to make another one after finishing with the fifth "Terminator" film.
Before "Terminator Salvation" hit theaters, McG had hinted there will be two more films. Speaking with MTV in May, he revealed that the issue of Kate Connor's pregnancy will be explored in the next sequels. He additionally shared his long term plan for the next "Terminator" movie,...

McG is currently working on "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," but he revealed to IESB that he's also pushing forward with a "Terminator Salvation" sequel. "I'm concurrently prepping Terminator 5, another Terminator picture," he said. "So, we're cooking that up." He has been planning to turn Terminator into a new trilogy and has previously revealed story ideas for the sequel. But "Terminator Salvation" underperformed, only bringing in half of the $200 million budget domestically. Foreign markets saved the day, however, by raising the total gross of the film to $340 million. Apparently, this is enough to greenlight a sequel. Update: McG just revealed to a room full of reporters that "we'll have a much more clearly defined antagonist in the new picture. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass." McG has already stated that the child of John and Kate Connor will play...

There's an old saying that goes "don't change horses in midstream." Never is this more true than when you're talking about major Hollywood franchises. Rabid fans become comfortable with a long-running series' established mythology, and it's jarring to see a new face operating under a familiar name.
I wonder then what you Twilighters make of today's news, that Bryce Dallas Howard will step in to replace Rachelle Lefevre in the villainous role of Victoria for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse." Lefevre filled the role in both "Twilight" and the upcoming "New Moon." The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the casting switch comes as the result of a scheduling conflict, as Lefevre will join Dustin Hoffman in the soon-to-shoot indie drama "Barney's Version."

Usually, when Twilight fans start screaming, it’s because Robert Pattinson has waved an unruly follicle in their general direction, but today they’re screaming for another reason: namely, the news that Rachelle Lefevre, who plays evil vampire Victoria in the franchise, has had to bow out of the third Twilight movie, Eclipse. But if those screams were tinged with despair, the news that Bryce Dallas Howard has been drafted in to replace Lefevre should alleviate that somewhat.Howard is fast becoming Hollywood’s equivalent of Liverpool legend, David Fairclough, a ginger-haired supersub called upon to replace original selections. Just this summer, after all, she starred in Terminator Salvation as Kate Connor, a role first played by Claire Danes in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. As Twihards know, Victoria’s role is significantly expanded in Eclipse, with the flame-haired vamp the sinister force behind an army of newly-created bloodsuckers,...

Summit Entertainment, according to Ok! Magazine, has announced that Bryce Dallas Howard will join Kristen Stewart to star on "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". She is going to portray vampire vamp Victoria on the third "Twilight" film, which production will begin in August.
The character is initially played by Rachelle Lefevre on upcoming movie "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". As she cannot get involved in the production of "Eclipse" because of scheduling conflicts, she is replaced by Bryce, who portrayed Kate Connor on "Terminator Salvation".
Previously, The Hollywood Reporter claimed Australian actor Xavier Samuel has signed on to join the cast of "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". He is going to star as "newborn vampire" named Riley, who is described as a good-looking college student who teams up with Victoria in an attempt to murder Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan. Riley is corrupted by Victoria as he has an inexplicable weakness.

It’s good to know that despite the nuclear apocalypse of Judgement Day, some of our human luxuries have survived in the grim future depicted in Terminator Salvation. Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) and Kate Connor (Bryce Dallas Howard) have their Belstaff jackets, John Connor (Christian Bale) has his Oakley S.I. Assault boots and his Sherpa bomber jacket and there’s also a nifty gadget that we’ve spotted amid the machine-killing chaos – the Sony Vaio Vgn-UX1 as used by Connor to communicate with Marcus in the build-up to the movie’s action-packed climax.

When Charlotte Gainsbourg left Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins due to scheduling conflicts, director McG turned to another famous daughter of film royalty, Bryce Dallas Howard to replace her. In this fourth installment of the groundbreaking sci-fi franchise, Howard is Kate Connor, the wife of John Connor, played by Christian Bale, and a member of the resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. A veterinarian in Terminator 3, she has adapted her knowledge of animal physiology and become the rebel group’s resident physician.

Bryce Dallas Howard isn't intimidated by the legions of Terminator fans waiting to see how the latest installment of the franchise does; she is one of those fans. "I know what people are looking for and asking for, because that's what I'm looking for and asking for," she told me in a phone conversation a few weeks ago. "I'm a huge fan of the franchise." Playing Kate Connor, John Connor's wife who is eight months pregnant when Terminator: Salvation begins, Howard says her job wasn't to run around with the machine gun, but keep everything running at resistance home base. "The way that my character best serviced the film was being kind of an emotional sounding board for John Connor. If there are other films, and if I'm a part of them, I would love to be able to do some intense action stuff. " Playing that emotional sounding board, Howard...

With Christian Bale joining the “Terminator” franchise as John Connor, it’s no surprise that his co-star, Moon Bloodgood, isn’t worried by “Star Trek’s” success when “Terminator Salvation” opens this week. Bale did make Batman cool again after all.
So when the film opens Thursday, Bloodgood thinks that “Terminator” has just as good a chance as any movie does to live long and prosper. Why? Because she was expecting a success in “Star Trek.” “I knew ‘Star Trek’ was going to be huge. I’m a Trekkie. I love it,” she told MTV News. “You can never predict something to be big.”
Bloodgood is hoping that fans of the “Terminator” franchise will turn out in huge numbers to see just what will happen in the saga that began with James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi thriller, 25 years before Bale’s Connor was old enough to be featured on-screen. “I’d...

Terminator Salvation arrived in theaters yesterday, but the war between man and machine is just ramping up and not likely to be resolved until the end of this new trilogy. Meanwhile, director McG is already dishing about how it may all unfold (Warning: Spoilers Below).
During a conversation with MTV, McG revealed that Kate Connor (Bryce Dallas Howard), the wife of John Connor, and her pregnancy will play a big part in the future installments. "That's to be explored in the prospective second and third picture," McG said. "We've arced out a story that includes that child and its fate and what it becomes in this world of man versus machine."
"In the third film, it was suggested that their children together become important," he continued. "That Kate eventually becomes the leader of the resistance when John Connor dies and that their children together become influential as well. Obviously, that's...

Chalked full of big loud action sequences, which are driven by a shallow storyline, Terminator Salvation is the kind of summer blockbuster that provides enough thrills and entertainment to keep you in your seat, but becomes instantly forgettable the moment you leave the theater. After three films, Salvation, which hails from director McG, moves the popular sci-fi franchise to the post-apocalyptic war between humans and machines, something we’ve only been teased with in the previous flicks and something fans have been clamoring for ever since James Cameron’s original opened in 1984. It’s 2018 and John Connor (Christian Bale) is a man many believe to be the savior of the world, as he leads the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. Connor is doing the best he can, sending out daily updates over the radio to other resistance fighters across the country as well as hearing words of encouragement from his mother,...

In 2003, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines fought desperately against the odds, tacking on a third installment without the guidance of an innovator like James Cameron, the absence of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), and the re-casting of John Connor (Nick Stahl). The battle ended in mostly disappointment, terminating a beloved science fiction franchise… for the time being.
Now, in the future, greed runs rampant through Hollywood offices as recycling machines churn out armies of sequels to destroy fond memories of the past. If only Cameron’s vision were real, maybe a robotic assassin could have traveled back in time to stop McG from making Terminator Salvation. Where is naked Arnold Schwarzenegger when you need him?
It’s clear the director is a fan of the first two Terminator movies through the inclusion of obvious references and familiar catch phrases, but it seems McG entirely missed the point about what makes Terminator and T2 great.

Chicago – McG’s loud-and-annoying “Terminator: Salvation” with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington continues the summer of non-Trek disappointments, delivering nothing but a bloated exercise in CGI overload. With awful dialogue, a ridiculous plot, and mostly uninspired performances, the interesting human element has been drained from the franchise. The machines have won.
