Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan joined the cast of Loki in season 2 as Ouroboros, a.k.a. Ob. Ob is the chief (and only) engineer of the Tva’s Repairs and Advancement department, where he’s spent 400 years alone keeping the Tva and its tech up and running. The season premiere, named “Ouroboros,” introduces the quirky character and gives Quan ample opportunity to build a rapport with series leads Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston. Ob may be a new character, but thanks to Quan, we already can’t wait to see more of him.

Steven Spielberg's 1984 blockbuster "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is not a good movie. The pacing is strange, the central story is introduced rather late into the film, and the interior logic doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. Many also take issue with Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) as she constantly whines. Also what is the true nature of the Sankara stones, and why is it bad that Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) has them? It seems that Mola Ram and Chattar Lal (Roshan Seth) are quite evil enough merely enslaving hundreds of children to work in their mines.
"Temple of Doom" is also the bloodiest and scariest of the "Indiana Jones" movies, a quality that both Spielberg and story writer/producer George Lucas have said was inspired by their respective messy breakups at the time. While many find the movie's gore to be fun and zesty -- including this...

As “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” hits theaters, it’s time yet again for the fan debate over whether the MacGuffin and/or ending of the latest “Indiana Jones” movie is too far-fetched. This debate ignited when “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was released in 2008, which found Harrison Ford’s rugged hero coming face-to-face with a literal alien, but how quickly fans seem to forget that this is a franchise rooted in the mystical – going all the way back to Steven Spielberg’s original, iconic “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
“Dial of Destiny” takes a big swing in its third act, but it’s a swing that is – on the whole – not much bolder or bigger than what’s been portrayed in the previous films. So why does this always seem to catch fans by surprise? Because “Indiana Jones” is too good.

This article contains all the spoilers for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
“I’m your goddamn partner!” When Marion Ravenwood shouted that declaration over the sounds of a burning bar and a Nepalese winter, she immediately cemented herself as the best companion for Indiana Jones. Sure, he’s been paired with other sidekicks, but none of them have lived up to the standard set by Marion. That is until Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Helena Shaw might seem like a second attempt at the Mutt Williams model from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Like Mutt, she sees Indy as a father figure. But with the aged Dr. Jones at a particularly low point, Helena has higher status in the movie, which works to bring out the best in a hero who’s more than long in the tooth.

Eight minutes into Temple Of Doom, Indiana Jones kills someone by hurling a flaming kebab into his chest. As far as I’m aware, we hadn’t seen such a thing on screen before. Or in real life. It’s outrageous really, an insane thing to do, and to see. But all of Temple Of Doom is loopy. With Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas had made a genuinely classic film, got heaps of acclaim, and now here they were with a follow-up for which they, well, went mad. To which I say: Thank you.
Temple Of Doom is pulpier, funnier, sillier, scarier than Raiders. Each Indy outing is tonally different from the last; this one actually becomes a whole other film halfway through, switching unapologetically from knockabout farce to traumatic nightmare. And for all its faults – which, for all the film’s greatness, are admittedly plentiful – it is,...

Harrison Ford has found a great resurgence with his acclaimed shows, the Yellowstone prequel series 1923 and Shrinking on AppleTV+. In addition, the legendary star will also join the MCU as he takes over the role of General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Brave New World. But this summer sees Ford donning the fedora one last time as he stars in the swan song for Henry Jones Jr. in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The fifth and final film in the franchise recently had its premiere, and a familiar face would sneak up behind Dr. Jones.

The U.S. premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” included an emotional and joyous reunion between franchise star Harrison Ford and recent “Everything Everywhere All at Once” Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan. The duo starred together in 1984’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” which marked Quan’s movie debut when he was just a child.
A viral video from the “Dial of Destiny” red carpet sees Quan sneaking up behind Ford while the latter is being interviewed by “Extra” host Melvin Robert. Quan places his hand on Ford’s back, and then Ford turns around and smiles when he discovers his former co-star has surprised him.
“You’re all grown up,” Ford is heard saying as the two actors share an emotional embrace.

While many remember the charming rogue of an archaeologist from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark, Dr. Henry ‘Indiana’ Jones’ second cinematic adventure, Temple of Doom, revealed a much darker side to the character. Set in 1935, the film opens with Indiana escaping from a deal gone wrong in Shanghai. After crashing a plane in the Himalayas and surviving a harrowing raft trip down raging rapids, he finds himself in a remote Indian village where the sacred Sankara stone has been stolen. Enlisting the help of a nightclub singer and a precocious child sidekick, Indiana is determined to recover the stone from the sinister Thuggee cult in their palace of death. What follows is a disturbing descent into a hellish underworld of ritual sacrifice, black magic, mind control, and even human heart extraction. While Raiders cemented Harrison Ford as a leading man and the fedora and whip as iconic, Temple...

It may not feel like it, but the ratings system used for movies that is administered by the Motion Picture Association of America is still an ongoing work in progress. Granted, the system has seemingly been fully established for the last 30-odd years or so, with the last major hiccup being the creation and controversial usage of the Nc-17 rating during the 1990s.
Still, it only takes a cursory glance at the recent cinematic landscape to see that there's a remarkable imbalance in the way the ratings system has been used over the past couple decades. Upon the introduction of a "middle ground" rating between PG and R, the PG-13, the system began to slowly be skewed to the point where now G and PG-rated films are almost exclusively the purview of children's movies (with the G rating itself nearly fully retired by circumstance). PG-13 has far and away become the most common rating,...

Before his Academy Award-winning performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once," Ke Huy Quan had found himself in a 20-year acting hiatus. The Vietnam-born, Chinese-American actor is best known for starring as Short Round in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" at just 12 years old and for playing Data in 1985's "The Goonies." As Quan grew up, he took on roles in international productions; however, the opportunities for Asian talent in Hollywood specifically continued to get slimmer.
In 2002, Quan left acting behind — but despite popular belief, he never once gave up on his passion for filmmaking and storytelling for a second. In fact, Quan would find himself trying out a variety of roles behind the camera. After graduating from USC, Quan was briefly mentored by action choreographer and director Corey Yuen, and even helped choreograph a significant fight sequence in the original "X-Men" film. The retired actor spent...

Los Angeles, Jan 16 (Ians) USA-based Vietnamese actor Ke Huy Quan was once again honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award at the Critics Choice Award for his work in the absurdist comedy-drama film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
This is second win in the recent past after he picked up the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture.

Indiana Jones isn't the only one who's back for another adventure in front of mainstream audiences. Ke Huy Quan used to be known for playing Indy's brave sidekick Short Round in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and for his role as the bumbling young inventor Data in Richard Donner's underground adventure "The Goonies." This week, that all changed when Quan won the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Waymond Wang in "Everything Everywhere All at Once." It was the first time since 1984 (the same year that "Temple of Doom" was released) that an actor of Asian descent won the category. That year, actor Haing S. Ngor was awarded the trophy for his work in "The Killing Fields." Quan's all-encompassing performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" ("Eeaao" for short) has redefined and reinvigorated the former child actor's entire career, giving him carte...

As much as Indiana Jones strikes an imposing figure as a lone man on a never-ending quest for all sorts of historical and mythological artifacts, the reality of the legendary character is that he's never quite been able to do it all on his own. From the esteemed Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood to John Rhys-Davies as Indy's right-hand man Sallah to Denholm Elliott as old friend Marcus Brody to the unforgettable Ke Huy Quan as Short Round, Dr. Jones has been more of a team player throughout the decades than even he would probably care to admit.
That grand tradition will apparently continue with the as-of-yet untitled "Indiana Jones" sequel. With the first official trailer presumed to arrive next month with the release of "Avatar: The Way of Water," anxious fans are instead left to sift through newly-revealed details about the plot and tone of the fifth film in the franchise.

Reputations go a long way in Hollywood, and when you’re seeking Oscar attention, a good one provides a significant edge against the competition. While more than a few contenders in this year’s mix have had previous run-ins with colleagues and journalists, those without that baggage have social media, and the industry, rooting for them.
At the top of the list is Brendan Fraser, one of the best comeback stories in years. In Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale” (Aronofsky and Fraser are both on the cover of this week’s New York issue of Variety) where he plays a 600-pound man looking to reconnect with his daughter, he delivers an astounding performance. If the Indiana Jones movies had been made in chronological order, the Thuggee cult in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" might have made pretty good bad guys for our intrepid adventurer to warm up on before tackling the greater peril of the Third Reich. After all, the real-life Thugs were proper nasty bastards, posing as travelers to waylay and murder around 30,000 people in early 19th century India, strangling their victims and offering them as a sacrifice to Kali, not to mention nicking all their stuff.
"Temple of Doom" screenwriters Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz made them even worse, adding voodoo magic, enslaving children, turning people into zombies, and ripping out people's hearts to the Thuggee repertoire. And yet it still wasn't quite enough, because "Raiders of the Lost Ark" came first, and "Raiders" had the Nazis, those go-to cinematic (and real world) villains. After a whole movie beating up and melting Nazis,...

Nearly 38 years after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Harrison Ford reunited with his co-star Ke Huy Quan Saturday at the D23 Expo, where both actors happened to be on hand to promote their upcoming projects.
Quan — who played Indiana Jones’ child sidekick “Short Round” in the 1984 adventure film — shared the photo of himself and Ford backstage, with the now-51-year-old actor’s arms wrapped around the smiling “Dr. Jones.”
