"The rebels have hired the most expensive mercenaries out of Europe." Well Go USA has released the new trailer for the release of the epic action movie Wolf Warrior II from China. If you haven't seen the first Wolf Warrior, don't worry, this will be just as fun to watch no matter what. Wolf Warrior II is already the most successful film ever released in China, making over $800 million in that country alone. Wolf Warrior II (or Wolf Warrior 2) brings back Jing Wu, who stars and directs, as the "Wolf Warrior", China's deadliest Special Forces operative who must return to fight off mercenaries terrorizing innocent civilians. The cast includes Celina Jade, Gang Wu, Hans Zhang, Qian Yu, Nan Yu, Shanshan Chunyu, and Haifeng Ding. This looks like one of those action movies they don't make anymore, and I mean that in a good way. Here's the new official Us trailer...

No reason has been given for the change in opening film.
Danish director Bille August’s The Chinese Widow will open this year’s Shanghai International Film Festival (Siff, June 17-26), replacing Ann Hui’s Our Time Will Come, which was previously announced as the opening film.
However, Our Time Will Come will still play in the Golden Goblet competition at Siff. No reason was given for the change by either the festival or the film’s producer Bona Film Group.
Both films are set in China during the Second World War. Starring Emile Hirsch and Yu Nan, The Chinese Widow tells the story of an American pilot who is shot down and saved by Chinese villagers. It remains unclear if the film has been made under the recently signed Danish-Chinese co-production treaty. August recently served as jury president at the Beijing International Film Festival.

There is a thrilling selection of Chinese-language titles at Filmart this year. Liz Shackleton picks out some of the most promising.
With very few Hong Kong or mainland Chinese sellers making the journey to this year’s European Film Market in Berlin, Filmart offers a chance for buyers to catch up with the Chinese-language titles that will be rolled out in the region for the rest of the year.
After serving up the biggest film of the Chinese New Year holiday — Kung Fu Yoga, starring Jackie Chan and directed by Stanley Tong — China’s Sparkle Roll Media has launched a Hong Kong-based sales arm that is selling Ding Sheng’s reboot of the A Better Tomorrow series.
Other high-profile action titles new to market include Distribution Workshop’s Extraordinary Mission, from the creative teams behind the Infernal Affairs and Overheard series, and Huayi Brothers’ crime drama Explosion, starring Duan Yihong.

The Sundance Film institute has released the line-up of film for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Going to Sundance is one of my favorite events of the year. I love going because you never know what kind of movies you're going to see. Sometimes they are great films that amaze and entertain, other times they completely suck ass, but that's all part of the fun of going to the festival. It's an awesome experience for any hardcore movie geek, and if you ever get a chance to go, you need to.
The event takes place in Park City, Utah next year from January 21st to the 31st. It looks like there's a great line-up of movies at next year's event. My favorite portion of the event is the Midnight section because it deals more with geeky genre type movies, but I also enjoy the various sections of other line-ups.

The Expendables 3 is coming and some possible plot details for the film have leaked out online. Not that the movie really needs a plot, it's just a big action movie franchise about good guys fighting bad guys. I guess there has to be a reason for the fight in the first place, and this time it's all about saving the President of the United States. They also reiterate that Jackie Chan is in the film and Jet Li will be returning.
The news comes from expendablespremiere.com and this is the update they have:
It's no surprise that the kung fu legend Jackie Chan is slated to join the growing cast of action superstars for Expendables 3. Chan is to play a former team member that aids Stallone and his crew in saving the president.Jet Li is also to return; this would be the second time the kung fu movie legends have worked together.

Damn. Now that’s a list. According to trade news, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nic Cage and Milla Jovovich are all in “advanced negotiations” to join the ballooning cast of “The Expendables 3″. (So what does “advanced negotiations” mean? I guess it might mean things have gone beyond the rumor stage and are now in the actively talking contract details stage. Or not.) Chan, Snipes, and Cage I can see, but Jovovich? That’s a surprise. She’s certainly got the ass-kicking pedigree, though it’s curious the people who were trying to get an all-female version of “The Expendables” made couldn’t/didn’t land her for their movie. She would be a natural fit. I guess franchise star/director/producer Sylvester Stallone was dead serious about injecting some new blood into the movie. They tried that with a young actor (Liam Hemsworth) and a girl (Nan Yu) in the last one,...

Here's a new casting update for The Expendables 3: Resident Evil's Milla Jovovich is in negotiations to join the explosive sequel as one of the ultimate badasses. I guess if any woman were to join in on the action in this testosterone filled franchise, it would be Jovovich. She's earned it.
Deadline is also reporting that the studio is also in "advanced negotiations" with Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, and Nicolas Cage. There's are all names that have previously been mentioned, but it now looks like they will actually end up being in the movie.
The movie will be directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill), and it's scheduled to start production in August. The cast of the previous film also included Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Nan Yu, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Expendables franchise is all about getting bigger and bigger with each installment. When the first film came out in 2010 he brought together amazing action stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and more, but they upped the ante in 2012 with Expendables 2, which also added Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Scott Adkins into the mix. So where do you go from there? The answer is to add Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich. According to Deadline, Lionsgate is now in active negotiations with all four stars to join the cast of The Expendables 3. While Chan, Snipes and Cage have all been rumored for possible roles in the film for months, this is actually the first time that we've heard about Jovovich's possible involvement. She would be the second actress to join the gang of killer mercenaries after Chinese actress Nan Yu...

Sylvester Stallone took to his Twitter account recently and offered a bunch of updates on The Expendables 3. He confirms some casting and reveals where they are looking for inspiration. I think you're going to like what he has to say.
Here are the tweets he sent out:
Scouting eastern Europe and Asia ...we are going all out on this one ... Could be a big surprise!!
What's the plan? Ask Jackie Chan....
Thinking about Raiding, The Raid....think about it...
We believe we can do better than the Raid, which was an excellent film... Raising the bar...
Mighty Mickey is back............
Talked to Wesley today ... He can not Wait to fight to the top again !!!!!!! Over...
So he's confirmed Jackie Chan, Mickey Rourke, and Wesley Snipes will be in the movie. The most interesting part of this to me though is that he thinks they can do a better action film than The Raid.

Just as they did last year, South Africa's National Film and Video Foundation (Nfvf) will once again take a delegation of films and filmmakers to the Cannes International Film Festival, which takes place later this month - from the 15th until the 26th of May. The goal here is to demonstrate that South African cinema can compete on the international stage, and show that stories by South African filmmakers can resonate in the international cinema market place. One of the films that will be presented this year is a crime thriller titled Black South-Easter, starring Tony Kgoroge, Fana Mokoena, Yu Nan, Deon Lotz, Thomas...

Sylvester Stallone has revealed that they've hired Patrick Hughes to direct The Expendables 3. I'm not familiar with the director at all, but he made a couple of shorts and a movie called Red Hill that I've never seen. Stallone posted the following,
EX3 Needs freshness, class, and much badass, ....Found it... Blood Sweat and Fears, coming soon... My best Pure Action Film - The last Rambo - I want this one too top it and I believe it will with New Blood.
I guess he feels that Hughes in the man to turn his dreams for The Expendables 3 into a reality. There was a point where Stallone asked what everyone thought about Mel Gibson possibly directing the film, but it looks like that didn't take.
In addition to Stallone, the last film starred Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Nan Yu, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth,...

Sylvester Stallone has just revealed (via his Twitter account) that Australian director Patrick Hughes ( Red Hill ) is set to direct The Expendables 3 . Exactly who among those might be returning remains to be seen, but Stallone has hinted that Jackie Chan could join the Expendables' ranks and that the...

Theatrical Trailer: the official theatrical piece, usually cut from the first (very long) cut of the picture or sometimes (if there is no first cut yet) from dailies (all the shot footage, including all the different takes and angles), maximum length of a trailer is two and a half minutes.
Teaser Trailer: A first, short theatrical preview piece (usually not longer than a minute and a half), cut from a few selected takes and scenes while the picture is still being shot.

The Expendables 2
Stars: Sylvester Stallone, Liam Hemsworth, Randy Couture, Jean Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis | Written by Richard Wenk, Sylvester Stallone | Directed by Simon West
Who’s your favourite Expendable? There’s a few more to choose from in this sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s first film in this throwback franchise, directed by Con Air’s Simon West. The plot is simple. Whilst on a routine mission, Stallone and his band of mercenaries, made up of familiar faces from the action movies of yesteryear, run afoul of Jean Claude Van Damme’s rival group of soldiers of fortune. Thus begins a tale of revenge, plutonium and a whole mess of botox.
The main problem with the fairly average first film was its strange lack of humour. You’d think that getting a bunch of action icons together...

This week: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and more aging action heroes are back to blow things up in the explosive "The Expendables 2."
Also new this week is a collection of Quentin Tarantino movies handpicked by the filmmaker himself, the Blu-ray debut of 1975's "Zorro" starring Alain Delon and a Criterion Collection edition of the formerly maligned/recently praised 1980 Western "Heaven's Gate."
'The Expendables 2'
Box Office: $85 million
Rotten Tomatoes: 66% Fresh
Storyline: Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and the rest of the Expendables (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth and Dolph Lundgren) are sent by Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) to Albania to retrieve an item from a downed plane only to lose one of their own in an ambush by an opposing group of mercenaries led by Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme). I'm appreciating the wave of black South African genre films we've seen in recent years, from How To Steal 2 Million to today's feature, Black South-Easter, which like the former is also a crime thriller, and everything else between. Black South-Easter is an upcoming South African crime thriller starring Tony Kgoroge, Fana Mokoena, Yu Nan, Deon Lotz, Thomas Gumede and Zolani Mahola, directed by Carey McKenzie and produced by Tendeka Matatu. Here's its synopsis: As the annual “Black South-Easters” blow dark clouds over Table Mountain, bringing storms to Cape Town, the ill winds of corruption blow through the city’s townships. In a...

Like Charlie's Angels, but dangerous!
Even though the The Expendables 2 was a bit redundant and perhaps too self-aware at times, it was still an entertaining action movie with all-star cast appeal. A sequel is already in development, with Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood all being courted to join the cast. Noticeably absent from that list are the names of any female action movie stars. We say, if the gimmick of the franchise is surprising new cast additions, why not push it further than bringing in Indy by bringing in Ripley or The Bride.
Or, better yet, how about a stand-alone movie with an all-female cast of female action heroes from yesterday and today? Just think of the possibilities!
Imagine a revenge movie written and directed by Quentin Tarantino about an all-female super-spy team run by Sigourney Weaver, with members that include: Uma Thurman as the...

There is some people who didn't like the explosions and over the top action of The Expendables movies, so what will they think of some added estrogen? That's right, Millennium Films, the company behind The Expendables and The Expendables 2 are planning a female-driven spin-off, entitled ExpendaBelles (with a name like that I don't know whether to smile or slap my forehead). Taking it's cue from the previous movies, the cast will seeded by actresses who have logged some serious time in the action genre, and given its spin-off status, I wouldn't be surprised if Nan Yu, who made an appearance in The Expendables 2 as Maggie, is involved. Script writing duties will be handled by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith (Legally Blonde) This isn't the only all female action team to be making its way to the big screen, with a separate take on the concept been developed by 1984 Private Defense Contractors.

I'm so confused. Back in August it was announced that producer Adi Shankar (The Grey) and production company 1984 Private Defense Contractors were in the process of setting up an all-female action movie that would be a riff on Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables. It was never going to be an official Expendables spin-off as Lionsgate and Millennium Entertainment were not involved, but since then Gina Carano (Haywire) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) supposedly signed on to star. Now this week Deadline is reporting that the female Expendables movie has an official title and a pair of writers. Here's the thing: it appears to be a totally different project. Could there really be two competing all-star female action movies in the works? According to Deadline, Millennium has apparently decided to steal their own idea back and have hired screenwriters Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith (Legally Blonde, The House Bunny) to pen the script.

The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world.

For The Expendables 2, only a lone female was added to the (previously) all-male group of new and returning action stars — Chinese actress Yu Nan. Hollywood Dailies caught up with the cast to see which actresses they feel could make it as a mercenary in the Expendables crew.

By now I’m guessing you already know that besides featuring action movie Gods Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger killing an obscene amount of bad guys in “The Expendables 2″, the film also features a brutal fight between Stallone and the film’s villain, played with great flourish by Jean-Claude Van Damme. The Expendables 2
Directed by: Simon West
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lungren, Nan Yu, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth
Running Time: 1 hr 42 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: August 17, 2012
Plot: A group of humanitarian mercenaries (led by Stallone) must stop an evil man (Van Damme) from getting his hands on five tons of plutonium.
Who’S It For? An appreciation for these action stars is necessary. There’s no way this movie would be fun if you don’t have some type of fondness towards movies like Commando, Rocky, Lone Wolf McQuade, The Transporter, The Terminator, Hard Target, and many others.
Overall
Families have their reunions for two reasons. They gather from far and wide to pay their respects to someone who has passed, or, said families want to celebrate the happiness of being a family.

It's no surprise that The Expendables 2 took the box office this past weekend, and the action veteran team even added a lady this time around with Nan Yu as Maggie. However, it sounds like we're going to get a bunch of fighting females sometime down the road as Variety reports The Grey and Killing Them Softly producer Adi Shankar and his 1984 Private Defense Contractors production banner have tapped up and coming writer Dutch Southern to write an all-female take on the ensemble action franchise. No specific names have been mentioned, but the company is already in talks with several prominent ladies of action. We don't have any other details as of now, but this sounds like it could be a blast for men and women alike. Off the top of my head, I'm already picturing Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich, Kate Becnkinsale, Michelle Rodriguez, Lucy Lawless, Linda Hamilton, Uma Thurman,...
