- In January 2004, Wright's daughter Rachel Davis (aged 23) was fatally shot while intervening for a stranger who was being beaten in front of the Purple Onion bar in Vancouver, B.C. In July 2006, the shooter was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted murder and five counts of aggravated assault. His first degree murder conviction triggered an automatic sentence of life imprisonment with no chance of parole until 2029.
- She and Eric Peterson, who play Brent Butt's parents in "Corner Gas", have been friends for 35 years. They are both proud Saskatchewan natives.
- Janet died between the production of "Corner Gas" (1994) and "Corner Gas - Animated" (2018), and was the only member of the ensemble cast who did not appear in both series. (Corinne Koslo replaced her as Emma Leroy in the animated series.) As a tribute, multiple episodes of "Corner Gas - Animated" refer to "Jane T. Wright" as one of Dog River's founders.
- Was in the film Boondock Saints, The (1999), as Connor (Sean Patrick Flannery) and Murphy's (Norman Reedus) mother who calls them from Ireland (jokingly) threatening to kill herself. But the scene was cut from the final film, it can be seen in the deleted scene section of the DVD however.
- She is part of the cast of the Canadian sitcom "Corner Gas" (2004) (May 2005)
- She is a co-founder of the Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon along with her late sister Susan Wright.
- She is currently playing the character of Jojo Ladro in the comedy 'Love and Other Dilemmas' directed by Larry Di Stefano. (June 2006)
