Brett Leonard's 1992 film "The Lawnmower Man" shares its title with a 1975 Stephen King short story, but the film and the source material couldn't be more different.
In King's original story, a man hires an unusual-looking gardener to mow his lawn, only to find out that the gardener's lawncare process involves stripping naked and eating grass clippings. Before the end of the tale, the gardener reveals himself to be a satyr who works for the god Pan and murders the protagonist.
Leonard's film, meanwhile, is about a kind, simple-minded handyman named Jobe (Jeff Fahey). Jobe is beloved by the denizens of his small town but is grievously abused by his caretaker, the local priest. Just outside of town is an experimental, computer-based mind laboratory that has been using a combination of drugs and virtual reality equipment to transform chimpanzees into cybernetically enhanced soldiers. When a chimp experiment goes awry, one scientist named Dr.

Say hello to your new obsession: A spellbinding homage to old pulp paperbacks and the Technicolor melodramas of the 1960s, Anna Biller’s “The Love Witch” is a throwback that’s told with a degree of perverse conviction and studied expertise that would make Quentin Tarantino blush. Shot in velvety 35mm and seen through the lens of a playfully violent female gaze, the film follows a beautiful, narcissistic young sorceress named Elaine (Samantha Robinson, unforgettable in a demented breakthrough performance) as she blows into a coastal Californian town in desperate search of a replacement for her recently murdered husband. Sex, death, Satanic rituals, God-level costume design, and cinema’s greatest tampon joke ensue, as Biller spins an archly funny — but also hyper-sincere — story about the true price of the patriarchy. There hasn’t been anything quite like it in decades.

He said: 'I spoke to him a few weeks ago. We talked about resurrecting a film we worked on, other projects, talked about his girlfriend and time they'd spent together. Steve Jobs Is #1 on Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People List
A few weeks ago, we learned nine of the ten people on Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People list. Predictably, the list included newsmakers (although not really deserving newsmakers) like the Kardashian family, as well as instant celebrities like Pippa Middleton.
The #1 Most Fascinating Person is only revealed during the broadcast. This year, Barbara Walters broke with tradition and, for the first time, selected a recently deceased person: Steve Jobs.
According to ABC, Jobs was actually chosen as the Most Fascinating Person earlier this year, when he stepped down as head of Apple due to health problems. In October, Jobs succumbed to his 8 year battle with cancer, but the network proceeded with the selection, believing that he was still deserving of the title.

The papers that officially founded Apple, the world's most valuable technology firm, have sold at auction for $$1,594,500 (£1.03m). The sale smashed all estimates, after British auction house Sotheby's had said that the three typed partnership agreements would go for between $$100,000 and $$150,000. The documents, signed by Apple's three co-founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne on April 1, 1976, were purchased by Eduardo Cisneros, chief executive of Cisneros Corporation. Also included in the sale was an amendment added 11 days later after Wayne quit the company, dropping his 10% stake in the firm. Cisneros, whose Miami-based firm owns stakes in businesses covering real estate, TV production and telecoms, beat five other bidders to the documents. The sale price includes a 12% buyer's premium paid to Sotheby's, meaning (more)...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus users are reporting major issues with the device's volume control in a bug that renders the new smartphone virtually unusable. The Galaxy Nexus launched in the UK last week as the first smartphone running Google's Android 4.0 operating system, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich. Even Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has reportedly picked up a Galaxy Nexus, such is the buzz around the device. However, Zd Net reports that as many as two-thirds of Galaxy Nexus owners in the UK are finding that the phone erratically changes volume level, jerking sporadically from muted to full volume and back again. The flaw means that users are unable to manually control the volume with the slide hardware, and in some cases are unable to do any other functions on the device. ZDNet and its sister site CNET have reported that the Galaxy Nexus falls silent (more)...

[1] As the source is somewhat less than airtight, you should probably take the following with the biggest grain of salt you can get your hands on -- but on the off chance there's some truth to it, this rumor is too wild not to repeat. A new report claims that George Clooney and Noah Wyle are vying for the lead role in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, which is being developed at Sony based on Walter Isaacson's bestselling biography. More details after the jump. The story comes from the UK tabloid The Sun [2] (via Cult of Mac [3]), which reports that the former ER co-stars are competing against each other to play the late Apple co-founder. There probably aren't many times I'd vote for Wyle over Clooney, but in this case Wyle actually seems like the better choice. For one thing, he's already played Jobs once, in 1999's Pirates of Silicon Valley.

We’re closer to the end of Mad Men then we are to the beginning. Ever since creator Matthew Weiner and AMC finally reached a compromise on the Great Showrunner Contract Negotiation of 2011, Weiner has been declaring pretty definitively that the show will run for a total of seven seasons. That’s still a lot of Mad Men — especially if the show keeps taking 18 months between seasons, we’ll be luxuriating in Don Draper’s beautiful melancholy until 2015 — but Weiner already has a sense of how he’s going to end the show. In a freewheeling conversation with Curb Your Enthusiasm...

San Francisco -- A recently discovered video copy of a 1995 interview with Steve Jobs shows the Apple co-founder at a healthier time, not long before he rejoined and revitalized the company.
There doesn't appear to be much new in "Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview," which is being shown at Landmark theaters in 19 cities around the country starting Nov. 16. In a copy viewed by The Associated Press on Tuesday, Jobs discusses topics such as how he got interested in computers as a child, his anger at being ousted from Apple in 1985 after a clash with then-ceo John Sculley, and his irritation with competitor Microsoft Corp. – subjects that have been covered elsewhere, and extensively in Walter Isaacson's recently released "Steve Jobs: A Biography."
Jobs and co-founder Steve Wozniak started Apple in 1976 and left in 1985. Jobs returned in 1997 and is credited with rescuing Apple from dire financial straits.

From humble beginnings to worldwide leaders, how have Apple grown from designing and creating circuit boards in a bedroom to being named the most valuable company (albeit briefly) on the planet?

Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Computers in 1976 with the intention of selling the Apple personal computer. Wozniak had designed and hand built the initial prototype in Job’s bedroom and financed the project by selling some of their posessions including Job’s Volkswagen van. The idea had originally started as a hobby but after discussions with a local businessman, Paul Terrell, who was opening a new computer shop, they hand built and sold 200 units at $666 each.
