Two-and-a-half-hour production to close London 2012 will be 'elegant mash-up of British music', says creator Kim Gavin
Fresh from flipping her middle finger at the Brits and breaking sales records on both sides of the Atlantic, a ubiquitous 23-year-old from Tottenham is to feature prominently in a London 2012 closing ceremony that organisers have promised will be a celebration of British music "from Adele to Elgar".
In contrast to the sometimes stilted formalities, they promised a giant after-show party featuring a "melting pot of British creativity", some of the biggest names in music, 4,100 performers and the obligatory closing fireworks.
After the Slumdog Millionaire director, Danny Boyle, last month unveiled his vision for an opening ceremony called Isles of Wonder after a line in Shakespeare's The Tempest, his closing ceremony counterpart, Kim Gavin, said his two-and-a-half-hour production would be entitled A Symphony of British Music.

With Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark fully revealed to the public (and struggling to evolve into a show worth paying more attention to) it's time to get more detail on the next superhero stage spectacular. That would be Batman Live, which is planned to premiere in Manchester this July, and which will then embark upon a tour of arenas in the UK and Europe before moving to Us arenas in summer 2012. Producer Nick Grace (Walking With Dinosaurs, Mamma Mia!) promises [1] a huge scale and went with arenas because they can accommodate "pyrotechnics and large video screens and lots of action." Now you can see some set designs for the show, which certainly seem to use the potential for a large scale. If the sets come together like that, they'll be visually impressive, for certain. Lots of room for movement and action, and the circus set promises good stuff for the telling of Robin's origin.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment announced today that the Batman Live world arena tour is kicking-off next summer. Batman Live is based on an original story being created exclusively for the show. Producer Nick Grace explained that the show is "a totally unique experience. This is not a musical but a high quality live show with a thrilling Batman story, filled with action, that will appeal to adults, teenagers and families." It will be interesting to see exactly what they have planned for this show. I'm not expecting much from it, but who knows, it could end up being incredibly awesome. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

In a bid to give his best performance at London's O2 Arena, Michael Jackson had worked hard on a rehearsal session at Staples Center. And, fans can get a closer look at how he worked on some dance moves through his pictures at the rehearsal which have just hit the web.
In one of the photographs, Michael is seen dancing on-stage with several backing dancers. In the photo, lights are seen flashing from every direction with a huge "This Is It" writing appearing on the wide screen behind the late singer.
"Michael rehearsed 10 or 11 songs," his manager previously told Billboard about Michael's rehearsal session. "He sang and danced, not always at full power, but the way you do for a run-through. When the show was over, he called me, but I was in the back getting something. He found me, and said, 'Frank, I am so happy.' He said he was just so happy.
