Billie Eilish, 22, and her brother Finneas O’Connell, 26, became the youngest two-time Oscar winners with their best original song Oscar win Sunday night.
The sibling collaborators’ “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie won at the 2024 Oscars. This marks the pair’s second Oscar win in the category, as they took home the award for “No Time to Die” in 2022.
When Eilish took the stage, she burst out laughing from excitement. “I had a nightmare about this last night,” joked the pop star. She admitted that she was “not expecting” to win again, but feels “so incredibly lucky and honored.”
She continued, “I’m grateful for this song and for this movie and the way that it made me feel. And, this goes out to everyone who was affected by the movie and how incredible it is.”
Besides thanking Barbie director and co-screenwriter Gerwig, Eilish thanked her best friend Zoe Donahue...

Despite two historic strikes, shifting release schedules, and the ongoing risk of coronavirus, Hollywood had a lot to celebrate at tonight’s 96th Academy Awards. If there was a message to take away from this year’s awards season, it’s that 2023 was a very good year for movies.

Another awards season comes to an end, as the 2024 Oscars named Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer as Best Picture, beating out contenders like Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie, and Poor Things. Nolan also won for directing, while Cillian Murphy beat out The Holdovers‘s Paul Giamatti for Lead Actor and Robert Downey Jr. received the win for Supporting Actor.
But Poor Things didn’t fare too badly, taking home four awards including a surprise win for Emma Stone, who was widely considered the underdog given Lily Gladstone’s heavily favored performance in Flower Moon. American Fiction also took home a well-deserved adapted screenplay nomination, while Anatomy of a Fall won for original screenplay.
Barbie didn’t go completely win-less, as Billie Eilish and Finneas won their second Oscar for “What Was I Made For?” (just after a jaw-dropping rendition of “I’m Just Ken” by Ryan Gosling and a whole...

He’s just Ken … not a guy who likes to sing at awards shows.
One of the big question marks about the 96th Academy Awards ceremony on March 10 is whether or not Ryan Gosling will perform his Oscar-nominated show-stopper “I’m Just Ken,” one of the five nominees for Best Song. The actor has been extremely coy about making an appearance, making jokes like, “Do you get paid to sing at the Oscars?”
The send-up of 1980s power ballads is nominated for Best Song and was co-written and produced by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Ronson, the British hit-maker with an Oscar win for “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born” and eight Grammys for work with Amy Winehouse, Silk City, and his own pop juggernaut, “Uptown Funk,” was spotted on the Grammys red carpet Sunday night by Variety, and asked if he had any further intel.
“Did he confirm to you?...

Billie Eilish and her brother and principal collaborator Finneas O’Connell won the award for song of the year at the 2024 Grammys, for “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie soundtrack.
After Lionel Richie announced the winner, Eilish was visibly shocked. “Yikes… Damn, that’s stupid guys,” the singer said when taking the stage.
Eilish said she was sure there was “not a chance” they would win. “I just want to say, everybody in this category — like that was a crazy list of incredible people! Incredible artists. Crazy right now,” she added, referring to her fellow nominees, including Sza, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus.
She went on to thank members of the Recording Academy and O’Connell who she called her “best friend in the world and makes me the person that I am today.”
Eilish also gave special thanks to Barbie director Greta Gerwig for “making the best movie of the year,...

The 2024 Grammys are set to kick off soon and, while watching, you may be wondering about the differences between Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year.
We have the full explainer here, if you don’t already know!
Keep reading to find out the full explanation and see who is nominated this year…
Record of the Year is awarded to both the performer of the song, as well as the recording engineers who took part in the production of the song. The Record of the Year highlights the performance and the production of the song.
Song of the Year, however, is awarded to the writer of the song, not the artist that sings the song.
Album of the Year used to go to the artist, however, now it goes to the artist and producers, sound engineers, mixers, and songwriters.
See the nominees in each category below…...

The 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony is being held this weekend and we’re predicting the winners in all of the major categories!
Sza leads the pack this year with nine nominations.
In general, women are totally crushing it: Sza, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Miley Cyrus all dominated the biggest categories. Jon Batiste is actually the only man in the Record of the Year and Album of the Year categories.
Taylor has a chance at setting a record for most Album of the Year wins if she picks up the award for Midnights. She currently is tied for the most wins in the category with three previous wins!
Make sure to tune in on Sunday for the Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah for the fourth time. The show is airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ starting at 8pm Et. Check out the full list of nominations.

The State of the Race
As expected, the 2024 Oscar nominations for Best Original Song are mostly artists that own an Oscar statuette (honorary Oscars still count!).
Although “Barbie” had a rougher time elsewhere, it did get its maximum number of nomination slots here, with “Dance the Night” singer Dua Lipa’s loss being a gain for “I’m Just Ken.” Now, the question becomes whether the latter has a chance at the Oscar, or will the longtime frontrunner “What Was I Made For?” ultimately win.
Split votes are never a thing to really count on, the Academy is pretty good at reaching a consensus when a project has multiple nominations within a category,...

As the 1990s alternative rock poet Daniel Dodd Wilson wrote in the memorable lyrics of "Closing Time," "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." For Jacob Batalon, playing Ned Leeds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was an explosive beginning to a promising acting career. Since making his first appearance in Jon Watts' Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood web-slinger, the actor has appeared in a number of films (MCU and otherwise) and is now dabbling in acting and producing for television thanks to SyFy's "Reginald the Vampire."
With all these new beginnings, it sounds like the Hawaii native is keeping very busy. But does that necessarily mean that he's okay with the way we left things in "Spider-Man: No Way Home?" Is he ready to move on from the House of Ideas and pursue other projects? Well, yes and no. Batalon recently touched on...
