It has been revealed that Jim Carrey’s hit 2003 film Bruce Almighty almost had two sequels.
Screenwriters Steve Koren and Mark O’Keefe shared their plans for Brucifer, a Bruce Almighty sequel that would’ve found Carrey’s character gaining the powers of a devil instead of God.
In the original film, Carrey plays the role of Bruce Nolan, a television reporter who complains to God that he is not doing his job correctly and is offered the chance to try being God himself for one week.
“[Carrey’s] manager and him wanted to do Brucifer,” Koren told Syfy. “We went in and pitched it, but it never quite worked out, because it was later on… It would have been another giant movie and I don’t think they wanted to do it. It just didn’t work out for some reason, but a lot of people loved it, including Jim.”

“Bruce Almighty” remains one of Jim Carrey’s biggest hits with 484 million at the worldwide box office, so it’s no wonder co-screenwriters Steve Koren and Mark O’Keefe cracked an idea for a sequel that would bring back Carrey’s Bruce Nolan. In a recent interview with Syfy, Koren and O’Keefe revealed their plans for “Brucifer,” a “Bruce Almighty” sequel that would’ve found Carrey’s character gaining the powers of Satan instead of God.
In “Bruce Almighty,” Carrey played a stressed news reporter who gains the powers of God (played by Morgan Freeman). Bruce’s newfound omnipotence complicates his relationship with girlfriend Grace (Aniston). Koren and O’Keefe said they pitched the sequel, “Brucifer,” to producer Michael Bostick on the night “Bruce Almighty” opened in theaters in May 2003.

With that signature (and soothing) voice coupled with a cool and calm demeanour, Morgan Freeman portrayed God with such compelling gravitas across Bruce Almighty and its middling spinoff Evan Almighty that he could fool us into believing that he actually is the all-powerful deity – ice-white suit and all.
It’s been almost a decade since Freeman last played the role in 2007, though while speaking to /Film, the esteemed actor revealed that he would be game for returning for Bruce Almighty 2, but only if Jim Carrey joins him. Said he: “I think I would have to if they did it. If Jim Carrey plays his character, and if I was called on, I would feel obligated.”
Carrey and Freeman first united for the original sleeper hit in 2003, where the former took on the role of Bruce Nolan, a struggling field reporter who is imbued with divine powers capable of reversing not only his own fortunes,...

Little-known fact: Ever since the anti-Commie masterpiece "Red Dawn" debuted in 1984 with the first-ever PG-13 rating, the MPAA has rationed out F-bombs to PG-13 movies like a master offering up gruel to orphans in a Dickens novel — one per.
Of course, the MPAA being the shady, Illuminati-like organization that it is, the rule is subject to their strange, nonsensical whims, and occasionally more than one is allowed in, or none at all. But for the most part, it stands that PG-13 writers and directors have to reserve their "f**ks" for the best moment possible.
With that in mind, we've assembled a list of movies that put their F-bombs-in-hole to the best use.
20. 'The Wedding Singer' (1998)

Jim Carrey has spent plenty of time playing God in the past decade in the fight against vaccines with now ex-girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, but it seems like he's finally ready to keep the God complex where it belongs: on screen.
Slash Film reports that screenwriters Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel are penning a sequel to 2003 hit "Bruce Almighty," featuring Carrey in the lead role
In the first film, which took in nearly $500 million worldwide despite mixed reviews from critics, Carrey played down-on-his luck TV reporter Bruce Nolan whose protestations about the way God (Morgan Freeman) does business earn him a temporary stint as the big man himself.
Steve Carrell, who played Carrey's work nemesis, Evan Baxter, in the original movie, was given the lead in the dismally performing 2007 pseudo-sequel, "Evan Almighty," in which Morgan Freeman reprised his role as God.
While Carrey's participation in the film has not yet been confirmed,...

Jim Carrey is being eyed to reprise his role from "Bruce Almighty" in another sequel in that series at Universal Pictures says The Press Associaton.
In the 2003 original, Carrey played TV news reporter Bruce Nolan who is offered the opportunity to be God for a week.
The 2007 sequel/spin-off "Evan Almighty" followed Bruce's former colleague Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) with a Noah's Ark inspired riff.
Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel are penning the follow-up. As the entire project is still in early stages, there's no word if Morgan Freeman would return to play God, or if Jennifer Aniston would reprise her girlfriend role from the original.

Jim Carrey is set to star in a 'Bruce Almighty' sequel. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel have been asked by Universal to write a script for the film which would see Jim reprise his role from the 2003 movie where he played Bruce Nolan, a down-on-his-luck TV reporter guy who complains about God too often and is then given powers in order to teach him how difficult it is to run the world. Jim has previously spoken of his desire to film a sequel to the movie - which was a huge hit in 2003 - saying:...

Last summer, funnyman Jim Carrey hinted that he might be taking part in a couple of sequels to two of his more popular and funny comedies. Both Dumb & Dumber and Bruce Almighty were said to have sequels in development, and we've already heard that Peter and Bobby Farrelly are already planning on getting a Dumb & Dumber sequel off the ground after The Three Stooges. Now Universal has followed through on Carrey's hints too as Variety has word that the studio is in talks with Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, the team behind the scripts for Hot Tub Time Machine and Yes Man, to script the sequel to the 2003 film. The original film saw Bruce Nolan as a down-on-his-luck news anchor lacking any faith in God until the creator himself, played by Morgan Freeman, bestows upon him all of God's powers. At this point it's not clear if Freeman, ...

I haven't seen Yes Man yet (seeing it next Monday), but a WB insider has just emailed in after an early exec screening on the WB lot went very well and has already sparked a lot of interest in a sequel to the film in which Jim Carrey plays a man who decides to say "Yes" to everything. Beware, there are spoilers for the ending of Yes Man in the following scoop: Hey there, just got word that an early WB screening went very well and everyone at Warner is very excited for this flick. So excited they have apparently put together an idea for the sequel. I was in the screening and Jim Carrey was there too and he was part of the pitch along with screenwriter Nicholas Stoller and director Peyton Reed who all seemed really excited about their idea. At the end of Yes Man Jim Carrey...
