“I think it’s all about heart,” declared Ludacris, kicking off this week’s episode of Rising Star — and in the process, betraying a fundamental misunderstanding of why people enjoy reality-singing competitions. “America wants to know if you have heart!”
No, Luda, America wants to know if these contestants can sing in tune. (Spoiler alert: Most of them cannot!)

Blair Waldorf, the next singing sensation?
Leighton Meester has apparently been hiding a golden set of pipes, since the "Gossip Girl" alum just released a beautiful cover of "Fleetwood Mac" on Wednesday (March 26). Meester and her singer/songwriter friend Dana Williams recorded a gorgeous, harmonizing version of "Dreams" and put the performance up on YouTube for the rest of the world to watch over and over and over again.
Now, this song brings up a lot of questions, but the biggest one is why didn't Meester ever sing on her CW hit series? Her fans got a taste of what she could do in "Country Strong," but hearing Meester sing something other than country is even more impressive. Just imagine all of the awesome musical episodes of "Gossip Girl" the world will never see. Tragic.
Listen to her cover below:...

Releasing the cover this week was great timing — not only did Williams’ first Ep, The Lonely One, come out March 25, but Fleetwood Mac announced Thursday that their original lineup is heading back on the road.

var brightcovevideoid = '3402282878001'; We'd heard some rumors that Leighton Meester could sing, and now it appears they're true: In a collaboration with musician Dana Williams, the former Gossip Girl star sings a beautiful, lilting cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." In the video, shot in February by Williams's sister Davida, Meester plays guitar and sings backup vocals on a sensitive cover of Mac's 1977 hit, before taking the song's second verse herself. Meester, who married The O.C.'s Adam Brody in February, also showed off her pipes in 2010's Country Strong, playing a pageant queen with musical aspirations. A year earlier,...

Meester also shows off her guitar skills, expertly strumming a Taylor acoustic as she sings perfect harmonies and strong leads.
Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, the band announced on “Today” that former member Christine McVie will rejoin the band after 16 years away.

Leighton Meester has shown off her tremendous vocal chops in the past—ahem, Country Strong—so it should come as no surprise that she would cover a hit tune effortlessly. The 27-year-old actress appears in a music video with her pal Dana Williams and the duo croon an acoustic version of Fleetwood Mac's timeless track "Dreams." Meester and Williams strum their guitars and belt out the heartfelt lyrics as they sit by a pool. The singers both shine during their solos and wow with perfect and tight harmonies. Fleetwood Mac would be proud of these two! Speaking of the iconic British-American rock band, all five members reunited for the first time after 15 years and announced...
