Following the steel cable walker massacre from the mid-season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead, you may have thought that the living dead highlight would go unchallenged for quite some time. But Rick's showdown with the Scavengers' nearly indestructible armored walker (in their own version of the rancor pit) threw the gauntlet down once again, and Greg Nicotero has shared concept art of the nightmare-inducing walker.
On Instagram, Nicotero revealed the concept art and a behind-the-scenes photo of the headpiece for the spiked walker that nearly ended Rick's life inside a gladiator pit of trash. It was only a couple of days ago when we brought you brand-spanking new images from AMC’s adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead, via the shows official blog. Now comes this very cool, if somewhat creepy animated look at one of the zombies in the series actually decomposing before your eyes!
These new concept sketches come courtesy of John Wheaton, a designer for Knb Efx Group, who’s working on the VFX for the highly anticipated series.
The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Jeffrey DeMunn, Laurie Holden and Steven Yeun. The series is due to air October 2010.

With an October release date rock solid, AMC is releasing all sorts of goodies for Frank Darabont's small screen adaptation of the Robert Kirkman zombie epic The Walking Dead. To go along with yesterday's zombie images, we now get an inside look at one shambler's various stages of decay. Hell, yes!

Frank Darabont is the project's writer, director, and exec producer with Anne Hurd and David Alpert also exec producing. Knb will be handling the effects, and AMC has already ordered six episodes.
Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, and Andrew Lincoln are all set to star.

Adapted from Robert Kirkman's Image comic series, the project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live.
