A retelling of the story of Captain Nemo is on the move — and not just under the ocean.
AMC Networks has grabbed linear and streaming rights to Nautilus — a reimagining of Jules Verne’s classic novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea — in the United States and Canada. The series, which hails from British companies Moonriver TV and All3Media-owned Seven Stories, was initially set for Disney+, which picked it up to series in August 2021. After scrapping the show earlier this year as part of a content write-down, however, Disney Entertainment has licensed Nautilus to AMC and its sibling streamer AMC+, which plan to air the series in 2024.
“Nautilus is a big, sweeping drama that is sure to appeal to fans of our Anne Rice Immortal Universe and other buzzy and fan-forward series like Orphan Black: Echoes,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

The Captain Nemo origin story series “Nautilus” lives on, with AMC Networks licensing the U.S. and Canadian linear and streaming rights to the live-action series from Disney Entertainment.
The 10-episode show was originally slated to air on Disney+, but it was announced back in August that the show was not going forward at the streamer as part of a wide-ranging cost cutting initiative at the Mouse House.
AMC and AMC+ will now air the show as a special television event in 2024, with an exact premiere date to be announced later. Inspired by Jules Vernes’ “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,” the show will explore the early life of Captain Nemo, who is played by Shazad Latif. The character is described as “an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him.

Georgia Flood and Thierry Frémont have joined Disney Plus original U.K. series “Nautilus.”
The series, inspired by Julie Verne’s novel “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea,” stars Shazad Latif (“Star Trek: Discovery”) in the lead role. Shooting is underway in Australia’s Queensland-based Village Roadshow Studios.
The series switches the viewpoint on Verne’s classic story, giving viewers the chance to see things from Captain Nemo’s point of view for the first time. Nemo is an Indian Prince who is removed from his home, family and birthright and taken prisoner by the East India Mercantile Company.
Focused only on revenge against those who have ruined his life, Nemo sets sail on the Nautilus, aided by a ragtag bunch of sailors, and soon finds himself battling not only his enemies but also discovering a mindblowing underwater world.

Apple TV Plus released a trailer for and some new images from its upcoming adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation.”

Now, the saga gets a new life as dramatic television, the first season of which premieres on Sept. 24 with its first two (of 10) episodes and then drops a new episode weekly on Fridays up to and including Nov. 19.
The story follows a band of exiles who learn that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. How they know this is because Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicts the fall of the Empire and he and his followers establish the titular Foundation to attempt to provide civilization a future.

Welsh wrote a lengthy, three-page letter to his followers, taking the time to highlight the cast and the crew that brought Kal-El’s homeworld to life and all those who have supported the series for the past two years and who are heartbroken by its cancellation. After only two seasons, the SyFy Channel has decided to cancel Krypton and they will not proceed with the Lobo spinoff series that has been in development.
I’m not really surprised by this news, I personally haven’t really been impressed by the series and the story it was telling. But, according to Deadline, Warner Horizon Scripted Television is currently in talks with other outlets and they are hoping to continue the series on another network or streaming service.
It’s explained that “DC Universe and the upcoming HBO Max streaming platform are considered the most logical option as DC content has been a focus for both.” If the series does end up living on somewhere else, chances are I won’t watch it because the series never really grabbed me anyway.

Syfy has canceled its Superman-prequel “Krypton” after two seasons, while also deciding not to move forward with its “Lobo” spinoff, TheWrap has learned.
Both “Krypton” and “Lobo” were from Warner Horizon, which will shop “Krypton” to other outlets, an individual with knowledge of the discussions tells TheWrap. “Krypton,” which centered on Superman’s grandfather, wrapped its second season on Wednesday. The network was also developing a spinoff around the bounty-hunter Lobo, who made his debut this season.
“Krypton” took place about 200 years before Superman existed and centers on his grandfather and his quest to save his planet from destruction.
Cameron Cuffe starred as Seg-El, while Emmett J. Scanlan played Lobo.
“Krypton” also starred Georgina Campbell, Shaun Sipos, Colin Salmon, Ann Ogbomo, Aaron Pierre, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Blake Ritson and Ian McElhinney. Krypton was executive produced by David S. Goyer, alongside Cameron Welsh, who served as showrunner.

There will be no more Krypton on Syfy. The network has opted not to renew the Superman origin drama series, and the recent Season 2 finale August 14 was a series finale on the NBCUniversal cable network. With the mothership series getting canceled, Syfy also won’t be proceeding with the previously announced Lobo spinoff, which had been in development.

Krypton Season 2 Episode 1
It is a whole new world on Krypton. As the second season of the Superman prequel series begins, the show has expanded its scope in a grand way, and right out of the gate sets up interesting character arcs, and a bevy of baddies.
The first season of Krypton, led by showrunner Cameron Welsh, did an admirable job of combining political intrigue with sci-fi and time-travel tropes set within the DC Universe, but with characters most people don’t know – in the past on a planet everyone knows is doomed. Somehow, against all odds, it worked. The inaugural outing also assembled an ensemble of actors, led by Cameron Cuffe as Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, a reluctant smart-ass hero who isn’t...

Emmett J. Scanlan, who is playing Lobo in season two of Krypton, will reprise his role in the spinoff, which is currently in development. The Lobo series will be written and executive produced by Cameron Welsh, who is also an Ep on Krypton. Here’s a little description that was offered from THR:

For months, Syfy has been building up to June 12th as the premiere of Krypton season 2. And while that’s still very much the case, the network today took the opportunity to announce plans to develop a spinoff series based on Lobo, the “foul-mouthed, dangerous, irascible, intergalactic bounty hunter.”
Keen to strike while the iron is still piping hot, Syfy and NBCUniversal merely confirmed their intentions to launch a Lobo offshoot. It’s therefore unclear whether Emmett J. Scanlan will reprise his role in the potential spinoff, or if the Powers That Be will cast someone else entirely.
What we do know for certain is that Krypton executive producer Cameron Welsh will serve as Lobo‘s executive producer and writer, which is reassuring in and of itself as Welsh knows a thing or two about Scanlan’s interpretation of the cult character, and presumably how he’ll stand on his own two feet.

Syfy has set its sights on a DC Comics fan-favorite. Syfy and Warner Horizon Scripted Television confirm they are developing Lobo (working title), a live-action screen version of the intergalactic rogue. A deal is in place for Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays the character of Lobo in Krypton Season 2, to star in the project.
DC Comics fan-favorite Lobo is an indestructible deep-space bounty hunter who looks like a biker version of Beetlejuice, grouses like Wolverine, and has amassed an interstellar body count that would make The Mandalorian envious. In temperament and destructive power, Lobo is steroid-pumped Stich (of Lili & Stich) equipped with Mad Max sensibilities. He’s typically drenched in both sarcasm and blood, sharing many of the profane and lethal attributes of Fox’s Deadpool character.

The DC Comics anti-hero Lobo is making his on-screen debut in Syfy’s “Superman” prequel series for its second season, which debuts Wednesday night, but now he’s getting much more than that.
Syfy announced on Wednesday that it is developing a spinoff of “Krypton” that will follow Lobo, “a foul-mouthed, dangerous, irascible, intergalactic bounty hunter.” Emmett J. Scanlan will play Lobo in the Syfy series as well as the spinoff should the project get ordered to series.
The series is under the working title “Lobo” and will be produced by Warner Horizon Scripted Television. “Krypton” executive producer Cameron Welsh will serve as executive producer/writer. Comics’ “ultimate bastich” is coming to TV.
NBCUniversal’s Syfy network said it would develop a new series featuring the DC Comics character Lobo with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. The alien bounty hunter, originally created as a spoof of ultra-violent figures from rival Marvel like Wolverine or The Punisher, makes an appearance in the second season of Syfy’s “Krypton,” which debuts Wednesday on the network. Lobo has long been portrayed as one of the strongest and most dangerous characters in the DC Universe — and one of its most foul-mouthed (“bastich” is one of the character’s favorite epithets).
Cameron Welsh, executive producer of “Krypton,” will serve as executive producer and writer of the new series. Emmett J. Scanlan plays the character in “Krypton,” and is expected to star as the character in the spin-off.

Before the new season hits in a month, check out these featurettes about General Zod, Brainiac, Doomsday, but the best addition of “baddies” is without a doubt Lobo aka “The Last Czarnian,” “Ultimate Bastich,” “Master Frag,” “Machete Man,” and “Archbishop Of The Celestial Church Of The Triple Fish Cod!”

SyFy has released a new trailer for their Superman-inspired prequel series Krypton and as you’ll see, it offers us our first footage of Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan) in action. It also features Zod, Brianiac, and Doomsday.
While the first Season of Krypton was pretty good, this second season looks like it going to be a lot better and more thrilling. At the end of Season 1, General Zod took over Kandor City and it led to a cliffhanger which saw Brainiac being locked in the Phantom Zone, but he ended up pulling Superman's grandfather Seg-El into it with him.
The series is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton, and follows Superman’s grandfather, whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Emmett J. Scanlan talks about getting into character with Lobo for Krypton Season 2 on Syfy.
Krypton Season 2 is introducing Lobo. He'll be played by Emmett J. Scanlan (who you can currently see on Amazon's Lore season 2) will play the ruthless bounty hunter.
Scanlan is no stranger to the DC Universe, having played Jim Corrigan (but not quite the Spectre) on the still missed Constantine TV series, but he also brings a familiarity with Lobo to the character.
"I’ve read a shit ton of comics," Scanlan tells us via email. "That, and the scripts are great. They give you a real sense of the type of beast they want to introduce. [Krypton executive producer] Cam Welsh is a massive Lobo fan, so you know with him and our writers it’s gonna be on point. I also know having worked with Cam and David Goyer before and knowing how...

We recently learned that Emmett J. Scanlan had been cast in the role of the DC’s ruthless intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo in Krypton. Now today, thanks to EW, we have our first photo of the character showing us what he will look like when he makes his big debut in Season 2.
It’s really strange seeing this character brought to life. He’s such a crazy and interesting looking character. While they completely nailed the look of the character here, it still a little weird seeing him in live-action form. Make sure to let us know what you think of the character design:
The character is described as possessing super-human strength, a genius level intellect in matters of warfare, and immortality. It’s explained that Lobo “will keep coming until the job is finished. His word is the only thing that Lobo holds sacred; although, he’ll never violate the letter of an agreement,...

A couple of months ago, it was reported that DC’s intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo would be coming to the second season of the Syfy series Krypton. We’ve now learned that Emmett J. Scanlan has been cast to take on the iconic role of the DC character. This will be a recurring role for him.
Lobo was created in 1984 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. He is a blue-skinned, 7-foot-tall, heavily muscled anti-hero alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter and drives a space-faring motorcycle across the universe. I should probably also mention that he murdered his entire species. He has superhuman strength and is virtually immortal.
I’m not really familiar with Scanlan’s work, but he appeared in Netflix's Safe, opposite Michael C. Hall, and The Fall, with Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan. He was last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.

During the Comic-Con Panel for the Syfy series Krypton, DC Entertainment announced that the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo would be coming to the series and that he will be the big bad villain for the upcoming season! They still have yet to cast an actor in the role, but this is certainly going to make the series a lot more interesting. It was definitely a surprise announcement that I wasn't expecting.
It looks like I'm going to have to finally finish watching Season 1. This has been a decent series, it just one of those series that I'm slowly making my way through.

Krypton Season 2 is bringing a Constantine vet back to play Lobo.
Krypton Season 2 is introducing Lobo. He'll be played by Emmett J. Scanlan (who portrayed Jim Corrigan on Constantine) will play the ruthless bounty hunter.
Lobo was created by Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer in the pages of Omega Men back in 1983. The character made the move from generic to a parody of '90s comics, thanks to the work of Giffen, Alan Grant, and Simon Bisley in Lobo: The Last Czarnian.
Lobo is the last of his race, the Czarnians, who murdered all of his fellow Czarnians mostly for the hell of it. He has at various times been contracted to kill Santa Claus, all of his children, criminals, and to find a murderer hiding in a planet-sized brothel by pleasing all of the women there until he can complete his mission. His presence...
