Taskmaster: Champions Of Champions 3 airs on the 14th January, Channel 4 has confirmed. More details here:
Now that we’ve had the joy of the Taskmaster New Year Treat with Deborah Meaden, Kojey Radical, Lenny Rush, Steve Backshall and Zoe Ball, we now look to the future, and we’re back at the time where a very special head-to-head occurs between previous winners.
As Taskmaster aired more and more series, Alex Horne and company began making Champion Of Champions specials after the fifth series.
The past Champion Of Champions winners were Josh Widdicombe and Richard Herring.
Taking part in the Champion Of Champions 3 are Sarah Kendall, Morgana Robinson, Sophie Duker and Dara Ó Briain. Series 15 winner Mae Martin was unavailable at the time of filming, so runner-up Kiell Smith-Bynoe took their place.
With Taskmaster commissioned all the way into 2026, there’s a very real possibility of there being a Champion...

You will soon be able to compete in a series of ridiculous tasks, as Taskmaster becomes a live experience.
There are few programmes on television as joyous as Taskmaster. Created by ‘Little’ Alex Horne, the startlingly simple premise see comedians and actors compete in silly challenges for the amusement of the Taskmaster, an always delightful Greg Davies.
The show was a sleeper hit, steadily building a dedicated, almost fanatical audience on Dave before switching to primetime on Channel 4. There have been many classic moments, such as Joe Wilkinson’s potato problem, Josh Widdecombe’s helpful admin (which nobody else had to do) and Liza Tarbuck making Alex sit on a cake.
The show then became popular worldwide, with multiple countries taking on the format. While the American version, hosted by Reggie Watts, didn’t fare so well, it was the New Zealand edition which really took off. Musical comic...

Watching an international version of Taskmaster has the uncanny quality of trying to explain a dream. The sets are the same, but also not. The theme music’s a match, but it’s playing over people and tasks you don’t recognise. The Taskmaster was there, but it wasn’t the Taskmaster, just some other tall man in a suit. And instead of the familiar comedian configuration of ‘two off telly, two off Twitter and one you’ve never heard of’, you (probably) haven’t heard of anybody.
Once you have your bearings though, free Taskmaster! Multiple new-to-you episodes to fill the gap while we wait for series 16. And it’s good stuff. The New Zealand version is particularly strong, with an excellent choice of Taskmaster’s Assistant and consistently funny comedians. Also, thanks to (the show’s own) joke that New Zealand has a population of just eight people,...
