German singer and leading actress of the 1930's, trained for the stage under Herbert Hübner and Maria Eis. She made her debut at the Schiller-Theater in Hamburg in 1929, playing the part of Mary Stuart. She had a successful tenure at the Preußischen Staatstheater under the direction of Gustaf Gründgens between 1934 and 1939. Weissner was also a popular leading lady of the period, especially paired with Heinz Rühmann in
The Grand Duke's Finances (1934), her first starring role, and as a crook in
Two Merry Adventurers (1937). After the war, she concentrated again on the stage and resurfaced in the 70's as a character actress on television. After her retirement, she was involved in various charitable works.
