Weintraub held the rights for the "Tarzan" franchise from 1958 to 1984. He made a great deal of money out of distribution deals with studios, guaranteeing him continued royalties from television re-releases. His depiction of Tarzan was an educated well-spoken lone adventurer, though paired with a young orphaned boy named Jai and still features Cheeta the chimpanzee. Weintraub omitted Jane from this franchise for a new view to audiences.
