'Munich' movie cover 'Munich' movie review: Steven Spielberg tackles political time-space continuum in wildly uneven but ultimately satisfying thriller Alternately intriguing and irritating, thought-provoking and banal, subtle and patronizing, the biggest surprise about Steven Spielberg's Munich is that it – however grudgingly – works. The film, which Spielberg himself has referred to as a "prayer for peace," follows five men contracted by the Israeli government to avenge the massacre of that country's athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Sizable chunks of this political thriller with a Message (capital "M") are simplistically written, clumsily acted, and handled with the director's notoriously heavy touch, but the old adage – blood begets blood – even if somewhat muddled, is too timely not to make an impact. Complex 'Munich' movie plot Based on George Jonas' 1984 book Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-Terrorist Team, whose veracity has been questioned in some quarters, Munich begins as...

If nothing else, do be sure to check out Guri Weinberg's attached video of Erik Odom cutting a rug at their hotel pool. The man's got some serious moves! I'm still seeing signs for Gangster Squad everywhere, and I'm sick of not indulging my fetish for gay listmaking. So, here's my way of getting a fix: These are the nine hottest hotties of gangster films, and I hope we can agree that a gangster film can either be a classic shoot-'em-up thriller of the 1930s-40s with mensches like Jimmy Cagney and Paul Muni or a stylized modern version that's more about dress-up than White Heat credibility. I've included both versions in this list.
Here are your gangsters, ranked and dapper as hell.
9. Ryan Gosling, Gangster Squad
Forgive me -- I am obligated to include the impossibly debonair Gosling since he makes every suit, glance, and cigarette puff a libidinous delight in Gangster Squad. How does he achieve such angles? I fear he has taken a sander to every pane on his face. I can't explain what he's achieved.

The delightful MyAnna Buring recently chatted with Sugar Scape about the ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ twist, set pranks and how she felt to have been a part of ‘The Twilight Saga’.
It must have been so hard to keep it a secret for that long. We’ve struggled not to tell all our friends over the past week..
Um sort of, yeah. I’ve had to be really vague. People have asked what my favourite scene is, and I wanted to say ‘pulling Jamie Campbell Bower’s head apart’ – but I couldn’t.
What did you think when you first read it in the script – had you read the books before?
Yeah, I knew the books inside out – it was hilarious because I’d be the go-to person on set when people wanted to ask something about the books and Stephenie [Meyer] wasn’t around. So what did you think when you read the twist, what did you think? I thought it was an absolutely brilliant – a brilliant solution. I think cinematically when you adapt a book you have to be prepared to make certain changes, and being able to see the full on fight, it just added to the epic feel. I think without that it would have been a bit wet.
Yes, it was a good way of adding some action without angering millions of twilight fans…
Exactly – and the solution to that scene was created by Stephenie and the writers. They went for a dinner and said, ‘right what shall we do’? So really it was a solution which came from the source. I think that added to its validation.
What was it like joining the Twilight cast – obviously they’ve been working together for quite a while, so were they welcoming?
Oh very. Very welcoming. Also, because there were a lot of new characters in this film, all the newbies arrived at the same time – I think that made it less daunting for all of us new guys, and we bonded over the fact that we were all apprehensive and nervous!
Was there anyone who was a bit of a prankster?
Noel Fisher and Guri Weinberg [Who play Romanian vampires Vladimir and Stefan] were quite good pranksters and Lee Pace [who plays Garrett] is a very naughty boy.
What kind of pranks did they play?
Guri, Noel and Christian Camargo [Eleazar] would just be naughty boys messing about all the time, they’d always have some kind of game or prank going on. Have you heard of this go fuck yourself game?
No but it sounds fun..
I can’t even remember how exactly it started, but Noel and Guri would tell each other to ‘go fuck yourself’ and Christian would get involve, and they’d all – it was the kind of thing they just said to each other.
Was the last day of filming emotional?
Yeah it was – most of us wrapped when we were doing a scene from the wedding. All the old established characters were there with us, as well as Anna Kendrick and all the school kids and it was just… we were filming in this beautiful woodland area, fairy lights everywhere – and then it was a wrap, and six months of my life, of me, done.
It must have been sad…
Yeah, more so for Stephenie, Kristen and Rob. I mean for Stephenie it’s much more than five years, and for everyone who’s been involved in the film five years is a long time. All of a sudden you’re not coming back, part of your future is not secure, that routine is gone. It’s mixed emotions, because on the one hand you end up feeling quite excited that it’s over because you want people to see it, but on the other hand you will miss everyone.
If you could have a vampire power, what would you choose?
I really like the thing that all vampires have, which is the ability to just move so fast and so gracefully just because I think how amazing would that be? In terms of having a power, I think Bella’s power is great. You can protect everyone you love from harm.
So finally how has it felt to have been a part of something so massive?
Oh it’s been amazing. So humbling too, because obviously it’s become such a huge international phenomenon – and also because it’s been an opportunity to work with so may incredible people in our industry. I just feel incredibly lucky.

When reviewing The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 do I look at it in comparison to the four films that preceded it? Do I look at it as a standalone effort even though it is still clearly only half a story, which began with Part 1 an entire year earlier? The box-office and marketing phenomenon that started in 2008 has come to an end and, for once, there is actually something to talk about even if we're talking about a franchise that dug a hole so deep it could never hope to dig itself out. It took three-and-a-half films for the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and human Bella (Kristen Stewart) to consummate their relationship, an act that resulted in Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), a half-vampire, half-human baby that nearly killed Bella. Consequently, at the conclusion of Part 1 all the angst and longing stares resulted in a baby being born and Bella being turned into a vampire.

This week, we'll be giving a big farewell to "The Twilight Saga" with the release of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" on Friday.
Judging by the clips and trailers we've seen so far, we can expect to see some serious vampire Bella (Kristen Stewart) action and get to catch up with the one and only Cullen coven. But, with a ton of other bloodlovers coming into the fold for the final film, Twi-hards should probably also brace for some new faces.
To help remind you who's who among the new coven vampires in "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," we put together this handy dandy little refresher guide.
Denali Coven
Sure, the Denalis were introduced as wedding guests in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," but these Alaskan vegetarian vamps have a much bigger stand in "Part 2." They're super-tight with the Cullens — even considering themselves faux cousins...

MTV's "Twi-Fight" is about to begin, and we don't just mean the Cullens finally facing those pesky Volturi types in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2."
Sixty-four of our favorite vampires, werewolves, humans and hybrids are throwing down in an intra-fandemonium MTV tournament to decide once and for all which "Twilight" character is the very favorite among Twi-hards.
It's a stone cold battle in the making, and while Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart) and/or Jacob (Taylor Lautner) are the most obvious favorites, there may be some other stiff competitors in this thing yet. Let's break it down.
Frontrunners
There's no question that the "Twi-o" — or "Twifecta," if you will — have a solid lead on the rest. The entire series has revolved around them, and the emotional attachment of the fan community to these three is unquestionable. Between them, Edward's got that immortal swoon factor going for him,...

We’re still a couple weeks behind on Summit Entertainment’s “New Face Fridays” with the Twilight Fansites, so bear with us as we catch you up! First we had the chance to hear from Denali Coven members Casey Labow and MyAnna Buring, then Amazon Coven members Judi Shekoni and Tracey Heggins, Egyptian Coven members Rami Malek and Angela Sarayan, Irish vampires Patrick Brennan and Marlane Barnes and Romanian Coven Vampires Noel Fisher and Guri Weinberg. Now we’ve got our very first Nomad Vampire with Joe Anderson. Read more below:
How much did you know about Twilight before you auditioned or before you got the part?
Joe Anderson: I wasn’t living on Mars so I knew a lot about it. Friends of the family as well were a little younger than I am, young girls, and they were huge, huge fans so when they found out that I was going to have something to do with it, my street cred went through the roof. So there was a gathering and watching of films together and getting excited about it. I’d seen all of them (the movies) I think by the time I was shooting in Canada.
Does that mean you haven’t read any of them?
Joe: No, you know interestingly enough, no, I did pick around the books. The interesting thing with Alistair is that the way he is used in the film versus the books is slightly different. For me it was more about taking this rather aloof character and developing him. And as an outsider, you know I wasn’t part of the previous movies, so I sort of felt like I had a bit of room to kind of play with this guy because none of the other characters quite knew what to expect and what have you. So it was quite freeing – quite fun to sort of go in there and really sort of invent something.
He’s (Alistair) a loner. Except for his history with Carlisle, you almost wonder why he decided to come and join up with the Cullen’s. He’s leaving pretty early on. Did you have an idea or did you talk to Stephenie about what his motivations were?
Joe: Yeah. It’s a really interesting question. I think, obviously without giving too much away, that the notion of just a general sort of right and wrong. One of things that serves Alistair is that he’s a tracker – his senses were quite strong. I think the reason for what he does is more to do with morality and right and wrong, and I think that he just doesn’t feel he is necessary because whatever will happen will happen. But I think it will explain itself, without giving anything away, more clearly in the film.

First we had the chance to hear from Denali Coven members Casey Labow and MyAnna Buring, then Amazon Coven members Judi Shekoni and Tracey Heggins, Egyptian Coven members Rami Malek and Angela Sarayan, Irish vampires Patrick Brennan and Marlane Barnes. Last time we had our first Romanian vampire, Noel Fisher and now we have the other Romanian, Stefan, as played by Guri Weinberg. Read more below:
Did you do a lot of that character building before hand with Noel Fisher or did you build on your own and tell him “Hey this is what I came up with?”
Guri: I don’t want to speak for Noel, but I will speak for myself, I did it by myself at first. Noel and I met briefly in wardrobe fitting in La, and then in October we had to go to Baton Rogue to camera, lighting tests, makeup tests, you know with Bill Condon, with everyone else. And so what happened was we had a meeting regarding our character. He wanted to hear what our ideas were and he wanted to let us know what his ideas were. And out of that meeting, really all three of us talked about what we wanted. We flushed it out and that’s how we came to be on the same page.
We saw a still with you guys sitting around the campfire and it looks like they are looking at you and Noel as Vladimir, will we get to see some of that backstory looked upon? Like his war story that he’s talking about at the campfire?
Guri: I don’t know how much I am allowed to reveal, but I’m just gonna put it more on the wide scope where we all talked about our experiences. You are not going to be able to pull it out of me.
How much did you have to give Mackenzie in the swear jar. You are the one that kinda started it with her. How much did you have to give her?
Guri: Well I was lucky enough in the spirit that I didn’t have as much money as Rob and Kristen did, so she let me get away with it. But I was the one that told her to start a swear jar cause I felt that I was not a big help. She’s like a ninja, the way she comes up you don’t hear her. So at first you think it’s just us adults and then Mackenzie is there looking at you with that really disappointed look.
Did you get a chance to talk to Stephenie Meyer about the history or the background of your character at all?
Guri: Stephenie and I never talked about that. Stephenie and I when we were hanging out and talking, we talked and joked about everything else. The cool thing about Stephenie is that she trusted the actors and Bill Condon to do our jobs. And our jobs as professionals is to come up with the characters, understand she wrote and bring it to life.

My thoughts:
I can’t believe this is really it, there will be no more trailers to look forward to! My first impression is that there is a ton of action in Part 2. It definitely looks like an amped up version of the book. That first part, while I’m not in love with the way Bella (Kristen Stewart) is shown to move while she’s hunting – still it’s totally out of the book. The way she sees the deer first, but ends up going after the mountain lion? That’s straight off the page! (Without the human interruption of course.) I love the things Edward (Robert Pattinson) is saying about Bella and underestimating what she can do in the narration, while Bella is doing so many physical things, it so true and so about time! Another big love for me is finally getting a good albeit quick, look at our Romanian vamps – Vladimir (Noel Fisher) and Stefan (Guri Weinberg). One more love is Michael Sheen. All of Michael Sheen’s moments. But still my absolute favorite part? Mama Bella telling her little girl, Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), she’ll never let anything happen to her. Go Mama Bear Bella!

New Twilight Breaking Dawn 2 promo pic shows serious Romanian vamp ruler Stefan. Recently, this new Breaking Dawn part 2 movie poster, hit the net and features a new look at Romanian vampire ruler Stefan. He's played by actor Guri Weinberg, and looks pretty damn serious in this new pic. Stefan is a founding member of the Romanian Coven, as well as one of the only two survivors from the coven's destruction. Stefan and his fellow Romanian vampire Vladimir once ruled the vampire world thousands of years ago with their coven. The Romanians were formed in a way similar to the evil Volturi clan: a group of ambitious vampires calling a truce to the usual squabbling between small covens, and then joining forces for the purpose of gaining power. The movie stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Billy Burke,...

On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,...

For any Twi-hards anxious to see what the foreign covens will look like, this is sure to be a red-letter day — nearly two dozen new character posters for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 have just been released. The new posters feature the new-to-the-series foreign covens, as well as the well-loved Cullens and the familiar Denali coven.
From the looks of these posters, just the right balance of very beautiful and a little scary was achieved with Zafrina (Judith Shekoni) and Senna (Tracey Heggins) of the Amazon coven. Similarly, the representatives of the Romanian coven, Stefan (Guri Weinberg) and Vladmir (Noel Fisher), manage to look handsome while still retaining an air of creepiness that makes us pretty sure we'd cross the steet if they were walking towards us on the sidewalk.
