Sgt. Rey Verdugo is an actual homicide investigator from the L.A.
Sheriff's Department.
Among the famous cases he worked on, Verdugo closed the Night Stalker
and The Hillside Strangler cases.
James Ellroy gave him a quick and funny profile in his book "Crime
Wave".
Worked closely with Michael Mann about the police procedures accuracy
in Heat, in which Verdugo plays also a Las Vegas P.D. Detective.
Verdugo is 34 year LASD veteran. He worked almost every assignements
within the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department: Patrol, Homicide,
Narcotics, Gang Enforcement and Special Enforcement.
Hosting a Reality TV Show about law enforcement on the streets
produced by John Langley (COPS). (2004)
Co-wrote with Martin Roth a book about law enforcement accuracy in
movie-making.
