Just a few weeks into filming, production on the second season of Apple TV+‘s “The Morning Show” had to shut down in early 2020 due the then-oncoming Covid-19 pandemic. Even though more than half of the season had already been written at that point, the writers decided to rewrite it in order to incorporate what would become the global health crisis of our time into the original storyline. For re-recording mixer Elmo Ponsdomenech, addressing the pandemic within the story was an emotional undertaking. “I won’t lie to you: during the first episode, it was a bit emotional seeing… a pan across [an empty] New York City,” he admits in a new webchat with Gold Derby. “It’s not the New York that most of us know or know of, so it made the hairs on your arm stand up a little bit.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Regina King’s Angela/Sister Night and Baby Yoda were the two pillars of success this Emmy season. So it was no surprise that “Watchmen” and “The Mandalorian” were the biggest craft winners at the Creative Arts Emmys, splitting seven awards apiece — and deservedly so, considering their bold and innovative work, which transcended their superhero and sci-fi trappings.
Damon Lindelof’s zeitgeist-grabbing “Watchmen” was a powerful “remix” of the famed ’80s graphic novel using the Tulsa massacre as a catalyst for excavating the generational sweep of racism and police brutality. HBO’s limited series award winner scored for Gregory Middleton’s cinematography, Sharen Davis and Valerie Zielonka’s fantasy/sci-fi costumes, Henk Van Eeghen’s editing, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ original limited series score, and sound editing, sound mixing, and casting.

The 2020 Emmy ballots have been released by the Television Academy, so we now know which shows, actors, etc. are in contention for this year’s golden statues. HBO’s “Watchmen” accounts for eight entries on the performer ballot, including lead actors Regina King and Jeremy Irons. The uniquely timely limited series about mask-wearing and racial injustice is a loose adaptation of the 1980s comic book about vigilante superheroes, which only lasted a single volume. Tour our photo gallery above to see all of the actors who’ve been submitted for the 2020 Emmy Awards.

There was some hope that "Lost" could get a significant boost with its recent swan song on ABC at the Emmy awards this year, but it just wasn't going to happen -- not as long as "Mad Men" remains on AMC. "Lost" ended up with only a single Emmy, for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, that was actually handed out the week before for the episode "The End." Among those winning in that category were Stephen Semel, Mark J. Goldman, Christopher Nelson and Henk Van Eeghen. Another ABC series, "FlashForward," also won an Emmy, but was for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Danny Weselis in the episode "No More Good Days." It was Weselis' first nomination after working on shows like "Eli Stone," "Day Break" and four years on the Fox classic "The X-Files." Weselis ...
