Long before Black Flag singer and pro skater Mike Vallely worked with footwear label Cariuma to develop his namesake skate shoe, he’d seen the company’s eco-friendly footwear on Instagram.
“I liked what I saw,” Vallely tells Rolling Stone. “The style, yes, but more so I was impressed by what seemed like their genuine, focused attempt to change the culture and make more responsible, sustainable products.

I’m very sad to report the passing of Gwar frontman/founder and Holliston co-star Dave Brockie (Aka Oderus Urungus). Details are scarce, but he was found dead in his home yesterday at the age of 50. Anyone who’s ever had the pleasure of seeing a Gwar show knows what a huge loss this is for the metal community. Rest in peace.
In a recent interview, Rob Halford confirmed that the new Judas Priest album is done and is “fucking heavy." Look for it later this year.
Opeth are eying a June release on Roadrunner Records for their upcoming eleventh album,...

As I compiled this list of musical scenes written or improvised by the actors who performed them, I quickly realized that I could never cover everything. The amount of music written by the actors in Christopher Guest films alone would more than double the size of this article. So I tried to limit myself to scenes and movies that I'd be able to give some fun insight on.
I literally got goosebumps rewatching some of these musical scenes. I hope you're inspired to give some of these movies a whirl in the DVD/Blu-ray player afterwards with a new sense of appreciation for the work that went into these musical moments.

The shenanigans Zach Galifianakas and crew get up to in “The Hangover” are nothing compared to the protagonist in director Todd Phillips’ debut. The maniacal star of 1994’s “Hated” slashed himself with razor blades, crapped on nightclub stages and verbally sparred with Geraldo. And that guy — late punk legend G.G. Allin — was a real person.
Considering Phillips’ deep roots in punk rock, heavy metal and other subcultural genres, defining musical moments like The Cramps and Danzig songs in “The Hangover” or the Metallica and Black Flag jams in “Old School” make a lot of sense. Skate-punk hero Mike Vallely, whose band Revolution Mother was invited by Philips to write a track specifically for the movie, cameos as the tuxedo rental guy who hands “The Hangover” crew their clothes on the freeway.

Sometimes we get sent a video that's so weird, I don't even know what to make of it. Over the weekend we were sent a video of skateboarders Mike Vallely and Mike Escamilla on the set of Paul Blart: Mall Cop, the upcoming Kevin James comedy. It could very well have just been some behind-the-scenes footage but at the end there's a full-blown skit with Kevin James in character. I won't "ruin" it for you (I'm not sure there's much to be ruined) but it's terribly unfunny. It's...
