There will be spoilers for "The Bad Batch" Season 2 Episode 3 - "The Solitary Clone"
The latest episode of "The Bad Batch" focuses on Crosshair (Dee Bradley Baker), one of the former members of Clone Force 99. He turned on his brothers and joined up with the Empire. In this episode, the planet Desix is being subjugated by the Empire, Crosshair is assigned to Commander Cody's regiment, and they work together to infiltrate Desix and save the Imperial Governor assigned to the sector.
Here, the show continues to explore the different aspects of the Empire's rise and shows us Desix, a planet that was a Separatist stronghold that maintained its droid army. With the Empire coming in hot, ready to take over and occupy the planet, this episode of "The Bad Batch" feels very much like "The Clone Wars" with a much more sinister bent to it.

For Only Murders in the Building, composer Siddhartha Khosla focused on underscoring the dramatic beats of the murder mystery rather than the comedy. The series follows a trio of true crime fans in NYC who start a podcast when they find themselves embroiled in their own mystery. In an effort to give it a more “NYC” feeling, he incorporated bucket drumming into the orchestra. Using those same instruments for the bulk of the score, Khosla’s work became essential in “The Boy From 6B”, which follows the perspective of the deaf character Theo Dimas (James Caverly). Only Murders in the Building is nominated for 17 Emmys in its first season, including Outstanding Comedy Series and two nominations for Khosla for his score and the main title theme.

Siddhartha Khosla has a hat trick of Emmy nominations this year, two of which are for “Only Murders in the Building,” for composing the addictive theme and the show’s score. For the latter category, he submitted “The Boy from 6B,” the standout Season 1 episode told from the perspective of Theo (James Caverly), who’s deaf, with no dialogue until one sentence at the end. And at one point in the process, there was going to be no music in the episode either.
“Julie Monroe, our editor was key in this. Cherien Dabis, who directed the episode — key. We all work together very early on in terms of finding what it was,” Khosla tells Gold Derby at our Meet the Experts: Composers panel (watch the exclusive video interview above). “At one point, there was gonna be no music. It was just going to be sound design. But then as we were cutting and seeing picture,...

JoAnne Yarrow was deep into work when she found out that she had received an Emmy nomination — her first — for editing “Only Murders in the Building.” “All of the sudden I started getting a bunch of text messages and I was sort of silent. And I turned my phone to my coworker and she read them,” Yarrow recalled to Gold Derby (watch above). “She was the one that was expressive and screaming and I was just kind of in shock. So that’s how I found out and then she screamed, ‘Call your husband!’ Later, there was somebody down the hall that was like, ‘What happened? You had to call your husband about something.'”

Tatiana Riegel’s long collaboration with director Craig Gillespie includes I, Tonya — the dark comedy about the Tonya Harding 1990s figure skating scandal for which the editor earned an Oscar nomination — and their latest, Pam & Tommy, for which she again had to walk a fine line between humor and seriousness.
“For Craig to be attached to it, I knew there was going to be a certain emotional level to it,” she says of the Hulu limited series, which revolves around the marriage of model-actress Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and their notorious sex tape. “And it would be intriguing in addition to his comic sense, [showcasing] his ability to sort of walk back and forth between those two places in a lovely way.”

Star Trek: Discovery delivers a full-scale battle scene with incredible moments in episode 2. Spoilers and geeky spots in our review...
This review contains spoilers.
See related Designated Survivor: a show well worth checking out
1.2 Battle At The Binary Star
For obvious reasons, episode 1 was all about setup and introductions - introducing the characters, the threat, the world they inhabit - and episode 2 was all about knocking that down. Because it turns out, we weren't watching the start of a new Star Trek series so much as the traumatic backstory that precedes it. Normally, someone would say "this officer was the best! But they screwed up and got thrown in jail. Now we're pulling them out of retirement to go on one more mission!" and possibly describe some effects-heavy sequences. But this time, we actually get to see it! And feel it!
And man, do we feel it.

In this Sdcc panel, Catherine Taber (Vette), Tasia Valenza (Kaliyo), Tara Strong (Risha), Neil Kaplan (Skadge), and Holly Fields (Nadia) talk about being your companions in The Old Republic.
Taber and Strong said that they didn't even know what they were participating in: two years ago when they first auditioned for the role, it was simply called The Old Republic and they were unaware of its Star Wars ties.
It's the largest voice over project in entertainment history, with thousands of lines of dialog. Each of the performers were surprised by the scope of the game.
I'm always kind of interested in the ways voice actors find a connection to their roles. Kaplan says he appreciated playing another large, tough character who he says are braver than himself. Fields, who regularly stands in for Cameron Diaz for any Shrek non-film content says she appreciated being able to take on a...
