Restaurants are doing their best to make sure consumers know that St. Patrick’s Day is defined by shamrocks and the color green.
Burger King, McDonald’s, and Ruby Tuesday are among the many establishments offering deals and limited-time items in celebration of the holiday—Krispy Kreme for example is turning its original doughnuts green.
Here are some of the deals and special items on tap for March 17:

On Monday, his mother, Kathi Fedden, filed a $30 million lawsuit against Suffolk County for negligence in causing his death. She claims that her son died because police did not arrest him after the first accident. Included in the lawsuit is an area Ruby Tuesday restaurant that Kathi claims is responsible for her son's intoxication. So you still haven’t watched Tuesday night’s “Sons of Anarchy?” Well you’re going to want to pop your eyes back in their sockets, boot up those tablets and pre-order your copies of “Cocks & Bagels” because it was a doozy. Also, this article contains spoilers, and this is one you’re going to want to see for yourself. “Greensleeves,” a riff of the legendary song about unrequited love (or prostitution, depending on who you ask) also served as the seventh episode’s title, and fittingly invoked just as much confusion. There wasn’t a viewer left who didn’t doubt Juice was going to be at the mercy of Jax and the rest of Samcro after last week’s explosive deal, so imagine the surprise when he rode off on club business from the spot J.T. died so many years ago? I still remember the good old...

Sons of Anarchy house band the Forest Rangers have been known to kick it old-school: Last month, they unveiled their scorching cover of blues classic "Baby, Please Don't Go" for the Season Seven episode "Poor Little Lambs." But for this week's installment, "Greensleeves," the eclectic group went even further back, reworking the titular English folk ballad into a brooding textural epic.

After reigning supreme on Saturday Night Live for seven years, Kristen Wiig made her voice in film loudly and rightly known in 2011 with Bridesmaids, which she starred in and cowrote with Annie Mumolo. Punching giant cookies, wooing Irish cops and forcing her friends to defecate in sinks at bridal salons set her up as an invaluable asset to a host of comedies and dramedies in the years since, like Friends with Kids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Girl Most Likely. Meanwhile, Bill Hader, probably one of the greatest talents from the SNL stage, has always had a healthy career as a bit player in comedies. While he hasn’t had a vehicle like Bridesmaids yet to largely showcase his worth, he’s been the supportive wing man, henchman, insert-assistant-title-here, delivering the best lines and effectively stealing the show in everything from Superbad to The To Do List. But his side-character status might be changing to...

Shameless broke its own “11th episode rule” by delivering a solid but not particularly Earth-shattering penultimate episode to a great fourth season. Are they saving the pepper for next week, or do they figure that they put us through enough in the season’s pitch-dark first half and are letting us off easy this year?
Let’s dig in.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is on the prison bus. She makes small talk with a woman who stabbed another woman in the gut to prove that she wasn’t pregnant. She was. “Oops.” The prison is about 3 hours from Chicago.
Chuckles tells a still-unconscious Frank (William H. Macy) that they get to go to Ruby Tuesday’s when he wakes up. What, are you trying to put him right back in the emergency room? The new patient next to Frank – an adorably doomed girl named Emily – needs a new heart. Chuckles asks,...

Andre 3000 looks — and sounds — quite convincing as Jimi Hendrix in the first “All Is By My Side” biopic clip. If only the film had Hendrix's music. In the video, the Outkast rapper is seated next to friend Linda Keith (Imogen Poots), the legendary southpaw guitarist trying to convince her to run away with him to Monterey. Filmmakers have been trying to bring Jimi Hendrix’s life to the big screen for decades, and with Jimi: All is By My Side, John Ridley has finally succeeded where directors Paul Greengrass and the Hughes brothers had been stymied in recent years. The Oscar-winning screenwriter of 12 Years a Slave brought the iconic rock star, who died in 1970 at the age of 27, back to life with the help of André Benjamin. The movie didn’t have the support of the Hendrix estate so it makes do without his music, but critics nevertheless applauded when the biopic debuted at last fall’s Toronto Film Festival.

This heartwarming video should brighten up your Friday! On yesterday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen DeGeneres surprised her favorite do-gooder waitress with a brand-new car! It all started the other week when DeGeneres had Sarah Hoidahl, a waitress at Ruby Tuesday in Concord, New Hampshire, on her show because she generously bought a meal for two furloughed officers during the government shutdown. Flash forward to this week. The talk show host called up Hoidahl at her work to surprise her with a big gift in honor of her charitable ways! "Hey Sarah, it's Ellen," DeGeneres said. "I'm just checking in. What ya doing?" "Hi! Oh my god, is it really...

Talk about paying it forward. A New Hampshire waitress got a big surprise when Ellen DeGeneres popped up with a check after the talk show host learned of a good deed she had done. After the government shutdown hit, Sarah Hoidahl wanted to do something nice for two National Guard members who sat in her section for lunch at Ruby Tuesday recently, when she overheard the women mention they weren't getting paid because of the furlough. Wanting to do something nice for the soldiers, the 21-year-old single mother picked up their $27.75 check and gave them a thank you note, according to Foxnews.com. When one of the New Hampshire National Guard's posted a photo of Hoidahl and a copy of her note of...

It's a feel-good story all around. New Hampshire waitress Sarah Hoidahl recently picked up the $27 tab of two furloughed National Guard soldiers who sat in her section at the Concord Ruby Tuesday's.
The single mom's story went viral after the New Hampshire National Guard posted a picture of Sarah and her note on Facebook. The note reads: "Thanks to the government shutdown the people like you that protect this country are not getting paid, however I still am. Lunch is on me thank you for serving, ladies! Have a good day!"
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" wanted to show its appreciation for Sarah, so host Ellen DeGeneres gave the single mom $10,000 and a new TV (Sarah's is broken), much to Sarah's shock. Ellen also paid her $27 in cash to cover the cost of the bill, since that night, Sarah only took home $8 in tips.
After, Sarah says through tears, "Thank you so much.

Twenty-two-year-old Hoidahl noticed two National Guard soldiers mulling over the menu at her Ruby Tuesday. The women mentioned that they were furloughed due to the government shutdown and therefore on a budget. “That just got me thinking,” Hoidahl told DeGeneres. “That’s really difficult, I’m a waitress, single mother, I know how hard that is. Linda Keith lent a young blues player a guitar belonging to her boyfriend, Keith Richards – and the rest is history. In a rare interview, she tells her story
Rock'n'roll has had many pivotal moments, but few are as clear cut as when Linda Keith, a 20-year-old British Vogue model and blues fanatic, lent a virtually unknown Jimi Hendrix a white Fender Stratocaster, the instrument that would become forever entwined with the guitarist's legendary and unsurpassed technique.
One person rightfully aggrieved by this gesture was the guitar's owner and Linda's boyfriend of three years, Keith Richards. Richards, then on the Rolling Stones' 1966 tour of the Us, wasn't going to get his guitar or his striking, dark-haired girlfriend back – she had made it her mission to launch Hendrix's career. But he and Brian Jones did write the song Ruby Tuesday about her – "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday/ Who could hang a name on you?...

Bill Hader is leaving "SNL," the comedian announced in an interview with The New York Times. His last show will be the Season 38 finale of "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, May 18, 2013.
“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader, who joined the series in 2005, told The New York Times. "It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it’s just time to go.'"
The futures of Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are also up in the air as "SNL" breaks for the summer before Season 39. But one other departure is certain: Seth Meyers. Meyers will leave "Saturday Night Live" and take over as "Late Night" host when Jimmy Fallon move to "The Tonight Show," replacing Jay Leno. However, Meyers will stay with "SNL" through the fall before he takes over "Late Night."
Last season, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig left the series.

Even if we didn’t know going in that this was a season finale, you can tell immediately that Sons of Anarchy means business when it breaks out the Katey Sagal songs. “Ruby Tuesday,” “Bird on a Wire,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” and now “To Sir, With Love.” Not sure if it’s the most mood-catching songs for what’s to come, but it’s always nice hearing her voice, reminding us of the unassailable beauty Sagal is capable of producing, along with the malice and desperation that so often shows in her portrayal of Gemma. But, since this is a season finale, [...]...

I tend to enjoy found footage films, at least some of them. However, this new The Dinosaur Project presents so much that I find wrong with the technique. The story follows a group that heads into the Congo to film a documentary, but everyone eventually goes missing. Once the footage they shot is found it reveals that dinosaurs are actually still roaming the Earth 65 million years later. From the opening moments of the trailer I'm already annoyed by this movie as it features one of those talking to the camera moments that has yet to match the level of authenticity delivered by Heather Donahue in The Blair Witch Project. But forget that for a second, or the part at the end of the trailer where he asks the camera if there is anyone out there, what about the fact this film is trying to convince us there are actually dinosaurs out in the wild,...

Chicago – As the chorus of “Goodbye Ruby Tuesday” signaled the recent season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” it was Kristen Wiig that said farewell to the show, but not before a lingering twirl from Andy Samberg, who just announced his own departure. The next phase for Samberg begins with a co-starring role beside Adam Sandler, in the film “That’s My Boy.”
Andy Samberg was born in Mill Valley, California, and grew up watching “Saturday Night Live,” as a self-described obsessed fan of the show. He spend two years at the University of California, Santa Cruz, before transferring after two years to New York University, to study filmmaking. It was with his childhood friends, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, that he would form a comedy troupe called Lonely Island. The trio landed a gig on Saturday Night Live on their writing staff, and Samberg broke out as a featured cast member on the show.

We figured Tom Brady wouldn't go unscathed on "Saturday Night Live" the night before the Patriots take on the Giants at the Super Bowl, and sure enough, host Channing Tatum donned a beanie and headed to Ruby Tuesday's... where he met Horatio Sanz' highly enthusiastic Janet.
Janet thought her luck was over when "Tom" pointed out that he was married... to freakin' Gisele. "I can't compare there," she says. "I look like every bank teller in the world, just squished together."
She won his heart with the story about her cat who sleeps between her boobs, though. "You know what, Janet, one minute ago I was ready to walk out of here and make love to my super model wife, and get some rest before the Super Bowl. But now? I'm listening."
Things don't end well for the Giants.

Charles Barkley didn’t exactly bring his A-game to last night’s forgettable episode of Saturday Night Live. Perhaps NBC had just worked him too hard all day long (before heading to Studio 8H, the basketball legend contributed as a football commentator) because despite having some passable moments and being an all-around gracious host (at the end of the episode he gave a nice shout-out to the hardworking SNL cast) something was still amiss last night.

I have never enjoyed Taylor Lautner more than in the cover story of July’s GQ (on stands June 22). He let the writer tag along with him to Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards — where DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg approached Lautner to ask if he had two minutes (because Will Smith wanted to meet him) — and then, a week later, suggested they do their lunch interview at his local Olive Garden. An excerpt:
“Do you like this place?” he asks, a little unsure, adding: “My father turned me on to it.” Without glancing at the menu, Lautner orders the Toscana soup,...

Lacey Brown has spunk and isn't afraid to show it! Throughout her Idol journey, the Texan native took risks, provided fans with solid performances, and many times impressed all four judges, and Ryan Seacrest! Last week, Brown took on the "Ruby Tuesday" on Idol's Rolling Stones night, which many thought was very risky. Check out what the judges had to say: Kara DioGuardi: "Hearing your voice right up there and clear is great." Randy Jackson: "Most interesting one of the night." Simon Cowell: "There was nothing wrong with the vocals, but you're overthinking it." Ellen DeGeneres: "It was a tiny bit sleepy, but I'm a fan of yours." At this point in the competition, it is hard to watch such talented musicians depart the Idol stage, but with many of them, you know it will only be a brief time before they are back in the spotlight.

Lacey Brown has admitted that she knew she would be voted off American Idol this week. The singer left the show on Wednesday after her performance of 'Ruby Tuesday' failed to win over the public. "I woke up... and had the strangest feeling that I was going home," Brown told E! News. "I hadn't been tipped off, hadn't read anything, but talked to a few of the contestants and said, 'Look, I'm going home'. Something was off. It wasn't that I'd made peace with it, I'd just gotten used to it. It's a hard thing to hear, but when you're there in that moment after you sing, you're not in control of anything." Brown also praised judges (more)...

I don't want to say it was like shooting bad singers in a barrel, but picking Lacey Brown as the likely first washout from this year's "American Idol" Top 12 was, well … easy. How easy? After a couple of rough weeks, the MTV "Idol" brain trust ran the board, with myself, Jim Cantiello and Mj's Big Blog webmaster Mj Santilli all correctly choosing the Texas two-stepper as this season's first finals casualty.
Santilli nailed it when she predicted that Brown's "quasi-countrified take on 'Ruby Tuesday' left the judges scratching their heads." Her discomfort on stage, which Simon Cowell chalked up to too much acting and not enough real emotion, came through again when she tried to unlock the judges' save by reprising her cover of Brandi Carlile's "The Story."
Now, to be fair, minuteman Cantiello also called Brown's ouster, but he went 1-for-3 when picking the bottom three,...

And then there were 11 ...
American Idol axed its first finalist of the season last night, and after some of the mediocre Top 12 performances the night before, the results were not altogether shocking.
Lacey Brown was definitely in our bottom tier after Tuesday evening's Rolling Stones covers and she was in America's doghouse too, along with Tim Urban and Paige Miles.
Ultimately, it was Brown who got the boot. Urban also would have been deserving of a pink slip, but it's hard to fault voters for this one. Brown seemed in over her head.
Her rendition of "Ruby Tuesday" showed how mediocre some of the stars are after the 4-6 contenders this season. Expect more predictable eliminations in the coming weeks.
For now, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox appear to be the cream of this year's crop. Can anyone stop them from reaching the final four?

Lacey Brown had an "American Idol" Cinderella story. In season eight, she just missed the cut for the top 36 when the judges opted for another quirky singer, Megan Joy, instead. Well, this was her year. Not only did she get past Hollywood Week to the top 24, she even made it to the top 12 and the big stage.
Unfortunately, her performance of the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday" didn't cut it, and she was the first finalist to get the boot.
We caught up with the 24-year-old Texan on Thursday (March 18) to talk about why she decided to try out again this year, the judges' conflicting advice and what's next.

One night after "American Idol"'s Top 12 sang Rolling Stones classics, Paige Miles, Tim Urban and Lacey Brown wound up in the season's first bottom three -- and one of them couldn't get no satisfaction. "One of them is worth saving," Simon Cowell said, explaining that the judges can now save a lone eliminated contestant this season, but only with a unanimous vote. Tim, who scored little sympathy from anyone following his reggae version of "Under My Thumb," was first to learn that he wouldn't be booted from "Idol" on Wednesday night. Paige, meanwhile, had impressed the judges -- but failed to blow the voters' minds -- with "Honky Tonk Women." On this evening, however, she wouldn't be "exiled on main street" either. That meant Lacey's fate was on the line. Would she have to say goodbye following her lackluster take on "Ruby Tuesday"? Or would the judges come to...

Lacey Brown was the first contestant to be dumped from the Top 12 on American Idol. Though her reviews for performing "Ruby Tuesday" on Rolling Stones night were okay, Lacey found herself in the bottom three, along with Paige Miles (who was still fighting laryngitis) and the pin up-able but lambasted Tim Urban. A stunned Urban was the first to be told he was safe. It came down to Paige and Lacey and Lacey was the one with the lowest vote total. If Urban can stay out of the bottom two with his universally derided reggae spin on "Under My Thumb," his looks should keep him safe for a few weeks. Paige and Lacey were left to face off. The judges can use one "save" per season, giving the person with the lowest votes one more chance. (The following week, two...

At the end of the first week with the top 12 contestants, the "American Idol" crew said goodbye to Lacey Brown.
The theme for the week was Rolling Stones, and Brown sang a rendition of "Ruby Tuesday," which didn't wow the judges. Allowed to save one person per season, if America votes them off, the judges opted not to utilize it with Brown.
The spunky redhead said she wasn't going to give up and will keep "singing for her fans.

Bam! We're down to 11! Or, in other words, after tonight's not terribly suspenseful American Idol results show, we're a mere 20 episodes away from naming Kris Allen's successor. [Warning: Spoilers Ahead, west-coast readers!] Poor, sweet Lacey Brown -- suffering the indignity of being the first ejected from the back of the season 9 bus, and then performing to try to win a Judges' Save that was never gonna happen. (Heck, not even Ellen could pretend that anyone in the bottom three deserved it.) And while it was nice that Lacey didn't have to repeat "Ruby Tuesday" (the performance that the Idoloonie nation rejected) and instead got...

With the Top 12 wannabes in place, it's officially "American Idol" go-time, party people.
momlogic's Vivian: The first order of business was to cover songs by the Rolling Stones (dubbed by host Ryan Seacrest as "the most iconic band on the planet, period."). These were weighty matters to attend to, and our fave mom and dad performers gave it all they had -- but not without giving props to their own folks first!
First up was Big Daddy Mike Lynche, who said his mother's passing spurred a sea change in his priorities. "When my mom got sick, things shifted in my spirit," he said. "Then she ended up dying, and football wasn't the end-all, be-all thing for me anymore. Music was my savior."
In keeping with that sentiment, Lynche set forth a smooth R&B redo of "Miss You" that left the judges impressed for the most part. Randy said, "You slayed it!

On last night’s American idol live show Lacey Brown chose to sing Rolling Stones track ‘Ruby Tuesday’ for the judges.
We like Lacey but feel that she hasn’t quite found her niche and though her rendition was nice, it was a little boring for us.
Judges Comments:
Randy Jackson called Lacey’s song ” the most interesting one of the night so far,”
Ellen called it “sleepy,” and Kara said it was “50/50″ for her. “There definitely were some issues where you didn’t hit the notes right.”
Simon told her to stop over-thinking things and suggested that she “performs like an actress”

I'm genuinely torn. There are any number of singers who I think should go home on "American Idol" tonight. Five or six, really.
But then I look at the six who would be left behind and I wonder which one of them might be the next Carrie Underwood or … well, Daughtry, anyway. Can you imagine a Siobhan Magnus album? A dozen tracks of gothy pop, 10 of them with the obligatory Magnu-yowl? Or — gulp — an album of AutoTuned Tim Urban?
Even down to just 12 singers, at this point in the competition it's slim pickings. But with the best record so far among our "Idol" brain trust going into our third week of prognosticating (5-of-8), I need to buckle down and just pick one.
The near-consensus this week is that flame-haired Texas crooner Lacey Brown doesn't have enough of a fan base to stick around and that her somewhat tame countrified take...

Last week on American Idol, Michael Lynche, a.k.a. "Big Mike," moved Kara to tears with a performance that was, up until last night, the best of the season by any measure.
Siobhan Magnus gave him a run for his money with "Paint It, Black" Tuesday, however, running away with the competition on this Rolling Stones-themed American-Idol eve.
Early favorite Crystal Bowersox turned in a serviceable and folksy version of "You Can't Always Get What You Want," but on this night, she was playing second fiddle at best.
The men? Michael Lynche was his typical, solid self, while Aaron Kelly really stepped up. Tim Urban's reggae version of "Under My Thumb" may have been his last on Idol.
It may be too early to call this a three-horse race between Crystal, Siobhan and Mike, but that's what it looks like now. None of the remaining Top 12 performances matched theirs.

It has been five days since America took a machete to the seriously talented people on "American Idol," but as is always the case with this insane show, you just have to accept the results and move on. (Says the man who spent the day watching Katelyn Epperly's "The Scientist" on repeat. While clutching a homemade Allison Iraheta plush doll. And weeping.)
But we have a brand new Top 12 to (Ford) focus on. And, as it turns out, a brand new "Idol" stage which ... um ... looked exactly like last year's "Idol" stage. I'll give anyone five bucks if they can tell me how light-up stairs, giant screens on the floor and an elevated band equals "new."
On Tuesday night (March 16), the Rolling Stones offered up their classics to be Idolized. For those of you keeping score at home, the Beatles had two (!) dedicated theme weeks in 2008. In the eternal Beatles vs.

Ah, the Idoldome. It's my fourth year recapping the behind-the-scenery at American Idol, and my third inside the double-decker, steel-and-mylar-and-hd-jumboscreens behemoth that is known as the Idoldome. Best I can tell, the set itself hasn't changed much at all since The Season of Kradison -- the only major difference to the studio I caught was the addition of three rows or so to the rear of the audience. Still, the place never fails to impress with its über-blue ridiculousness. It really does usher in a sense of grand occasion and drama to the Idol experience, and after visiting the intimate and easygoing Idolcupola last week,...
