Have You Tried Shaking a Jar Full of Pennies?
The Donald Trump election fraud trial in New York takes Wednesdays off, but that only left late-night hosts time to play catchup with the widely reported fact that the GOP nominee for President can’t keep his eyes open for ten minutes at a time. As reports came out that Trump’s madly spinning legal team is being forced to come up with unique “devices” to keep their client conscious during his criminal trial, Kimmel called his nemesis “Naptain America” before mocking the apparent projection of Trump’s recent 4 a.m. social media post accusing President Biden of being the sleepy one.

Of President Joe Biden’s myriad quips and Dad joke-level zingers at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner — including around the thorny issue of his age and aimed at former President Donald Trump — one joke, in particular, referenced a notable, recent move by his campaign.
Speaking to a crowd of media figures, A-list celebrities and Beltway power brokers who’d just wrapped up their dinner, Biden started serving up one punchline after another. About halfway through his tight 15, the president referred to his recent sitdown with talk radio host Howard Stern.
“I have higher standards,” Biden said from the podium. “I do interviews with strong independent journalists who millions of people actually listen to… like Howard Stern.”
Goofing on Stern’s journalistic credibility landed with the audience, which, despite the spectacle of the star-studded event, is meant to honor the bravery, tenacity and grit of some of the best reporters in the nation.

After calling Time magazine’s long interview with Donald Trump “shocking” and “reprehensible” earlier today, Joe Biden this evening doubled down on his predecessor’s dystopian second term plans.
“Trump did a long interview with Time] magazine,” the president told an Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander fundraiser at Washington DC’s Mayflower Hotel on Wednesday. “It’s coming out, you gotta read it. It’s a mandatory read.”
“This election is about competing values and competing visions for America,” Biden added to a crowd that had Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-il) and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai among the attendees. “Trump’s values and visions are ones of anger, hate, revenge, retribution.”
In case his audience didn’t take his advice, the incumbent then cited a couple of the topics in the wide ranging “How Far Would Trump Go?’ piece like letting the states control abortion rights, monitoring women, and...

House Republicans are calling for NPR CEO Katherine Maher to appear at a hearing on May 8 following a now former staffer’s allegations of bias in news coverage.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-wa), chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, joined with two other House Republicans in a letter to Maher. “The Committee has concerns about the direction in which NPR may be headed under past and present leadership,” they wrote. “As a taxpayer funded, public radio organization, NPR should focus on fair and objective news reporting that both considers and reflects the views of the larger U.S. population and not just a niche audience.” The hearing would be before the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

Donald Trump continues to claim that Americans are positively over the moon about the destruction of reproductive rights — but he couldn’t be more wrong.
During a Wednesday rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the former president once again bragged about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, and ending the federal right to abortion.
“Basically the states decide on abortion, and people are absolutely thrilled with the way that’s going on,” Trump told a crowd of supporters.

Donald Trump can attend his son Barron Trump‘s high school graduation. On Tuesday, New York Judge Juan Merchan allowed Trump to miss a court date in May to attend Barron’s graduation ceremony, which will take place at Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida.
In the initial court proceedings on April 15, Trump had petitioned the judge to adjourn the trial for Barron’s graduation. At the time, Judge Merchan did not rule on the request due to time constraints, but he acknowledged that if the prosecution progressed as planned, it would be feasible to adjourn for a day to facilitate Trump’s attendance.
In addition to the request for the May court date, Trump had also sought to adjourn a court day in April to attend Supreme Court arguments. However, Judge Merchan denied this request and asserted that Trump’s ongoing criminal trial precedes other court matters.

Supreme Court oral arguments were made for social media. Social media was not made to make Supreme Court arguments persuasive or even understandable.
The court’s latest Donald Trump case is a perfect illustration. The justices on this court are relatively young. Their questions are clear and direct, and they all are engaged, respectful, and fair. If you listen from start to finish, you can’t help but think this is the most deliberate and serious branch of the three-ring circus that is Washington, D.C.

So this might be the reason why she’s been missing from all of those parties at Mar-a-Lago. There’s a new report that suggests Ivanka Trump is doing everything she can to keep away from her father, Donald Trump.
And that’s not because she doesn’t love him anymore, but mostly because she’s embarrassed over his hush money case and doesn’t want to be associated with it at all. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Ivanka Trump – Is Avoiding Her ‘Embarrassing’ Father Donald Trump
Ivanka Trump is avoiding her embarrassing father, Donald Trump. As many of his critics are already aware of, the former president has been accused of supposedly trying to pay off an adult film star in the hopes that she would keep quiet about their relationship.
They had their affair back in 2005, but the news about it broke out in 2016 and right before the 2016 election.

Judge Juan Merchan found Donald Trump in contempt of court on Tuesday for repeatedly violating the gag order in the former president’s New York hush-money case. Merchan fined Trump a total of $9,000 for bucking the order against publicly commenting on court staff, prosecutors, prospective jurors, or the judge’s family — and lamented that New York state law prevented him from laying down a steeper penalty.

Trying Our Patience
The criminal trial of Donald Trump continued on Tuesday, as witnesses continued to spell out just how vast was the conspiracy to keep potentially damaging (and sleazy) details of then-candidate Trump’s various affairs from impacting his election chances. It’s going to be a long, weird ride for us all, so late-night hosts picked apart everything from Trump’s daily mid-testimony nappy times, to his complaints about everything from the judge-imposed gag order to the temperature in the courtroom, and even his attacks on his own lawyers.
With each day’s testimony seeming to implicate Trump further and further in a felonious web of election fraud and hush money payments, perhaps one could be excused for feeling a little pity over the defendant...

Fox News continued its dominance in the April ratings, while network coverage of Donald Trump’s hush money trial has failed to produce blockbuster viewership.
In fact, all the major cable news networks saw a drop off in the key 25-54 demo versus a year ago.
Working against the networks is the fact that the television coverage of the Trump trial is prohibited in the courtroom, leaving it to correspondents to check in with regular reports along with an assortment of legal analysts. CNN and MSNBC have added scrolls on the side of their screens with real time text updates from the courthouse.
In primetime, Fox News topped with an average of 1.98 million viewers, down 5% versus 2023, compared to MSNBC with 1.25 million, down 5%, and CNN with 624,000, up 6%. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 219,000, down 9%, compared to MSNBC with 114,000, down 3%, and CNN with 113,000, down 16%.

Earlier this month, Eric Hovde, the Wisconsin Senate candidate endorsed by Donald Trump, suggested that many senior citizens in nursing homes are not qualified to vote.
“We had nursing homes where the sheriff of Racine investigated, where you had 100% voting in nursing homes,” Hovde said of the 2020 election during an interview on the Guy Benson Show. “Well, if you’re in a nursing home, you only have five, six months life expectancy. Almost nobody in a nursing home is in a point to vote. And you have children, adult children showing up that said, who voted for my 85- or 90-year-old father or mother?”
The Wisconsin Senate Candidate’s campaign spokesman said he did not mean to imply that elderly people should not vote.
“In no manner did Eric Hovde suggest that elderly people should not vote,” Hovde spokesman Ben Voelkel said in a statement. “He was referring to specific cases in Racine Co.

Exclusive: Despite a myriad of health issues landing the incarcerated Harvey Weinstein in hospital last week, the much-accused producer is still expected to show up in court tomorrow — at least right now.
“Mr. Weinstein entered prison with serious medical issues, and they have not magically disappeared, but are being managed,” the producer’s long-time spokesperson Juda Engelmayer tells Deadline of his client who is suffering from diabetes, cardiac issued, sleep apnea, and who is also near blind.
Following the April 25 overturning of his 2020 sex crimes conviction, the past few days have seen a storm of rumors that 72-year-old Weinstein wouldn’t make the re-arraignment hearing in the early afternoon local time at 100 Centre Street in Manhattan. While Weinstein’s current condition is far from critical at present and he is under observation at Bellevue, one well-positioned law enforcement source said that “things could turn on a dime” and not to rule out “more drama.

Update: The lawyer for Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels further outlined the hush money deals made to his clients, including his suspicion that Donald Trump was “the one” who ultimately funded the Daniels payoff.
Lawyer Keith Davidson said on Tuesday that he did not enjoy having to deal with Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen.
The tension went back to a hostile phone call in 2011 after a gossip site called TheDirty blogged about rumors of a sexual liaison between adult film star Daniels and Trump. “Before I could barely get my name out, I was met with a hostile barrage of insults and allegations,” Davidson testified in Trump’s hush-money trial in Manhattan.
Cohen was “just screaming,” Davidson said, and he accused Davidson’s clients, Daniels and her manager, Gina Rodriguez, of leaking the claim to TheDirty. “Finally, after he finished,” Davidson recalled, he assured Cohen that Daniels didn’t want the story publicized.

We all know he’s guilty — even the New York appeals court majority that ordered a new trial for Harvey Weinstein knows it. That makes the narrow, 4-3 reversal of Weinstein’s conviction all the more enraging.
Anyone who has ever watched a cop show knows how difficult it is to get a conviction in a sexual assault case. Yet the court majority found that the trial judge made an “egregious” mistake in letting three women testify about alleged sexual assaults even though their claims were not part of the charges against Weinstein (known as “Molineux witnesses”). Without that testimony, the majority concluded that Weinstein might have walked.
Dissenting Judge Anthony Cannataro wrote that the decision was “endangering decades of progress in this incredibly complex and nuanced area of law.” What message does the New York appeals court ruling send? In a new trial, the women whose testimony achieved the...

Jim Hoft, the founder of the right-wing media site The Gateway Pundit, announced that this company filed for bankruptcy after it faced many lawsuits about false claims it made about the 2020 election.
The Gateway Pundit has been facing litigation by election workers and other people who endured harassment after the site made inaccurate claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
Some of these lawsuits were made by people who claim to have received numerous threats after being vilified in fake stories.
One lawsuit is being brought by mother-and-daughter Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. Last year, the pair won a $148 million defamation verdict against the former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
According to the company, the litigation forced it to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Florida.
Their petition estimated it had assets between $500,000 and $1 million.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) blamed congressional Republicans for squandering their leverage to tackle the border crisis.
DeSantis stated that House Republicans “surrendered” their power to address the ongoing crisis happening at the U.S.-Mexico border after the chamber had passed a foreign aid package distributed billions of dollars to American allies.
The Florida governor accused the party of handing President Joe Biden the foreign aid funds he requested while gaining nothing in exchange for securing the border.
“They basically just surrendered on the border,” he told reporters. “They now have no leverage to do anything on the border. They had an opportunity to insist that Biden accept the border if he wanted all the foreign aid, and they decided to capitulate.”
“And so he got everything he wants, and Republicans voters did not get anything with respect to stopping this problem at the southern border. Look, we’re...

José Andrés is a renowned name globally, as well as locally in Washington’s Dmv (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) area. Ambassadors, civil servants, businessmen, tourists, locals and celebrities — including Rob Reiner, Paris Hilton, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, LL Cool J, Billy Porter, bandleader Chucho Valdés, NBA pro Kyle Kuzma and NFL player Kevin Zeitler — have all dined at his restaurants in DC, of which there are 8 and all are within a walking distance of each other.
One of his most famous concepts is The Bazaar By José Andrés, which has locations in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York and Washington. The latter sits inside the Waldorf Astoria Washington hotel — which opened in 2022 — and it’s a perfect match, as the chef and hotel management share the same ethos and values for diversity and inclusion.
Andrés originally was supposed to open his restaurant in what was then the Trump International Hotel.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) lashed out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), stating that she is “bringing down brand of the Republican Party” and is placing the Republican Senate majority at risk.
“I think she’s uninformed,” Tillis stated in a clip played on CNN news anchor Erin Burnett.

Trump had until 2:15 p.m. to remove the posts.
Trump also slammed the judge for the order. In a new Truth Social post, written during a break in the trial, he said, “This Judge has taken away my Constitutional Right to Free Speech. I am the only Presidential Candidate in History to be Gagged.”
Previously: Former President Donald Trump was found in contempt of court and fined $9,000 today for violating a judge’s partial gag order.
Trump also was ordered to remove seven posts from his Truth Social account and two posts from a campaign website by 2:15 p.m. today.
The judge, Juan Merchan, also warned Trump that he could face “incarceratory punishment” for further violations.

Donald Trump reportedly did not expect to win the presidency in 2016, which isn’t surprising considering how ill-prepared he and his team were to take control of the country. He appointed established conservatives to key positions before learning some had personal principles that extended beyond indulging the president’s ego. Trump wreaked havoc on the United States for four years, but the damage might have been even greater if he wasn’t battling career public servants who tried to check his impulses, or if he wasn’t such a political neophyte.

Now this is just one comparison she thinks is totally uncalled for. Melania Trump has every reason to be furious after it has been suggested that Michelle Obama and her husband Barack Obama are by far bigger style icons than her and her own husband, Donald Trump.
There’s a good chance that she’s so upset about the comparison that she might actually do something about it. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Melania Trump – Furious Over Michelle Obama Style Icon Claims
According to the Daily Beast, Donald and Melania Trump both have a long way to go before they even reach the Obamas and their supposed icon status. This all came after one of Donald’s former aides, Stephen Miller, said that the Trumps were trend setters.
While on Fox News, Miller said, “The most stylish president and first lady in our lifetimes are Donald Trump and Melania Trump.

Here’s a political reality that seems impossible to be unaware of—although recent evidence suggests otherwise:
If you are pulling out all the stops to rise to the top of the Veep sweepstakes in your party, and you decide that the most impressive thing on your resume is your penchant for gunning down puppies, you are not only likely to destroy your chances with millions of dog-owners, you are also signing up to be the human outline at the late-night firing range.
That thoroughly perforated figure you may have come across on TV late last night was the effigy of Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota, outspoken advocate of gun rights, and (apparently) pet cemeteries.
The story broke over the weekend: The governor, whose ardent pursuit of the second spot on the Republican ticket to Donald Trump has been widely publicized, recounts in her upcoming memoir a happy catalogue...

Former President Donald Trump‘s daughter, Ivanka Trump, was spotted in Manhattan this week. However, Ivanka and former First Lady Melania Trump are avoiding Trump’s legal affairs.
Ivanka was photographed leaving the Aman Hotel in Midtown while a jury selection happened downtown.
Ivanka and Melania are reportedly extremely embarrassed by Stormy Daniels trial and refuse to attend the proceedings.
Trump faces criminal charges related to his alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump was accused of paying Daniels to stay silent about their affair before his presidential campaign in 2016 and then falsifying business records to cover it up.
Trump’s wife has also stayed out of her husband’s campaign trail. Since her mother’s passing in January, Melania has made a few public appearances, though she plans to host a fundraiser for LGBTQ group, the Log Cabin Republicans. On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected former Trump adviser Peter Navarro‘s bid to stay out of prison while he appeals his conviction for evading a congressional subpoena.
Navarro, 74, was charged with two counts of contempt of Congress after he refused to cooperate with the House January 6 committee investigating the Capitol Riot. Navarro failed to provide documents to the committee and refused to testify. Navarro cited former President Donald Trump‘s executive privilege to maintain confidentiality. However, there is no evidence that Trump ever asserted the privilege or that it would apply in this case.
This is Navarro’s second attempt to stay out of prison. In March, Chief Justice John Roberts denied Navarro’s first request. Navarro was ordered to report to a federal prison in Miami on March 19. Navarro renewed his request to Justice Neil Gorsuch. The motion was brought to a full court for a vote. Previously,...

Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly moaned about how the courtroom in his New York hush money trial is too cold.
“I’m sitting here for days now, from morning [until] night, in that freezing room,” Trump told a crowd of reporters standing in the hall outside the courtroom. “Freezing. Everybody was freezing in there.”
“And all for this,” he added, showing a large stack of printed-out articles and opinion columns about the hush money case. “And this is your result. Look at that. Each one of them is a story. And it’s very unfair.”
It is noticeably chilly inside 100 Centre Street, the 17-story Art Deco facility built during World War II, which is home to the Manhattan Criminal Court.
It is also cold in the 15th-floor courtroom and even the overflow room a few doors down, where media members started bringing their winter coats with them in the morning...

One America News Network has retracted a story that claimed Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels.
Cohen, who is expected to be a key witness at Trump’s hush money trial, had hired Justin Nelson of Susman Godfrey Llp, the lead attorney in Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit and $787.5 million settlement with Fox News.
On its website, Oan said that “today has retracted its March 27 article entitled ‘Whistleblower: Avenatti Alleged Cohen Daniels Affair Since 2006, Pre-2016 Trump Extortion Plan,’ and is taking it down from all sites and removing it from all social media. This retraction is part of a settlement reached with Michael Cohen. Mr. Avenatti has denied making the allegations. Oan apologizes to Mr. Cohen for any harm the publication may have caused him.”
Nelson worked with Cohen’s lawyer Danya Perry in seeking the Oan retraction and settlement.

Here we go again. Apparently not content with his ongoing feud with Jimmy Kimmel, Donald Trump added two more Late Nighters to his enemies list this weekend.
Trump took to Truth Social with his take on the latest episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, which featured an interview with third-party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. While the post was mostly aimed at Rfk Jr., Trump made sure to get a couple barbs in at Maher first.
“I actually watched, first time in a long time, ratings challenged Bill Maher’s really boring interview with Rfk Jr. last night,” Trump wrote in a Sunday morning post.
Despite Trump’s claims to the contrary, in fact Maher’s program recently doubled its audience when CNN began rebroadcasting the Friday night HBO show Saturday nights in prime time.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley received over 156,000 votes in the Pennsylvania GOP primary election despite dropping out of the race in March, suggesting a significant protest vote among Republicans.
Haley won 16.5% of Pennsylvania’s primary vote on April 23.
She secured twice the number of votes by which Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in 2020.
Both parties are focusing on Pennsylvania since its 19 electoral votes make it a critical battleground state.
Tens of thousands of Republicans refused to vote for Trump even though he is the likely GOP nominee.
He won the primary race in the critical swing state with 83.5% of the vote, amounting to more than 786,000 votes.
Biden gained 90% of the Democratic vote in this primary election.

During a hearing this week, most of the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court appeared skeptical about offering blanket immunity to a former president, which would keep them from being prosecuted for criminal acts.
On Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reiterated that former President Donald Trump should be “held accountable” when asked about the court hearing.
On Meet the Press, host Kristin Welker asked McConnell: “Just to be clear, you said former presidents are not immune from being held accountable. Do you stand by those comments?
“That was my view, but I don’t make those decisions,” McConnell responded.
“But do you stand by those comments?” Welker pressed. “Yeah, that’s my view. But my view is my view. The court is going to decide this,” McConnell said.

In March, Trump launched a Maga-based Bible that included lyrics to “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and other notable American documents. Trump’s Maga Bible was widely mocked by both sides online, including a segment on Saturday Night Live.

Donald Trump’s reaction to last night’s White House Correspondents Dinner shows the much-indicted ex-potus still sucks at being the butt of a joke.

Barron Trump – Bullied Over Hush Money Trial
As many of Donald’s fans and critics alike are probably aware of by now, the former president has been accused of paying off an adult film star to stay quiet about their alleged affair.
Their relationship supposedly happened back in 2005, but Donald apparently paid her off right before the 2016 election.
And while there’s no doubt that this entire ordeal has to be very embarrassing for both Donald and his wife Melania Trump, it’s their son Barron who is suffering the most out of this.

Still, this year’s soirée, which took place on Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, was the hottest ticket in the nation’s capital — maybe the entire nation — as President Joe Biden and the First Lady sat alongside the Hollywood elite and senior government officials mingled with actors, rappers and rockers.
They were all gathered to toast free speech and watch the president and Saturday Night Live Colin Jost roast Donald Trump, the state of the media, and in a common theme of the night, the commander-in-chief’s age.
Before the event began, hundreds of protesters had gathered outside the Hilton in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington to confront attendees and encourage journalists to boycott the event. The demonstrators shouted about the deaths of journalists in Gaza as they covered the ongoing conflict...

Colin Jost, the featured entertainer at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, went all in on Donald Trump and his legal troubles, got in a few zingers about Joe Biden’s age and finished his gig by telling a long story of how the president is a “decent” man.
Some of Jost’s jokes didn’t land in the room, but he did well when he framed the 2024 election race.
“Let me see if I can summarize where this race stands at this moment,” Jost said. “The Republican candidate for president owe s half a billion in fines for bank fraud and is currently spending his days farting himself awake during a porn star hush money trial and the race is tied?!”
“The race is tied. Nothing makes sense anymore. The candidate who is a New York City playboy took abortion rights away, and the guy who is...

Joe Biden got in a few zingers at his rival Donald Trump, but he devoted a large part of his remarks to the serious threat to democracy.
“Donald has had a few tough days lately. You might call it stormy weather,” Biden quipped, referencing Trump’s current hush money trial.
The president also riffed on reports that Trump dozed off during his trial, calling him “sleepy Don.”
“Trump’s speech was so embarrassing, the statue of Robert E. Lee surrendered again,” he said.
The president, though, devoted a large chunk to his speech to warning of the threat to the democracy and the press’s role in a free society.

Confusion and anxiety reigned at a CBS-Politico joint party today ahead of the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, with staffers shocked at news that Bob Bakish, CEO of parent Paramount Global, is set to exit abruptly as early as Monday morning.
There have been rumblings about Bakish for days as the company enters the final stretch of exclusive merger negotiations with David Ellison’s Skydance. But his imminent departure triggered a wave of anxious speculation tonight in Washington, D.C. Ellison has always been mostly interested in the movie studio and historic lot. Although it seems Skydance does plan to keep the company intact, at least for a time, network folks aren’t betting on it and felt uncertain about the future of CBS, and about who might be running Paramount Global in a few short days — a troika of top execs, a new chief executive?
