Movie classic Easy Rider (1969) is getting a makeover - a new film-making team are working on a sequel. The tragic 1969 film about two hippies on a trans-American motorcycle cruise was an icon of its time - with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper fulfilling the cowboy dream of life on the open road. Mikki Allen Willis will write and direct the sequel, and producer Glen Tobias has bought the sequel rights and an option to make two more films. Shooting is due to begin in the autumn, and it is reported that many of the original locations will be used. The original movie, directed by Dennis Hopper and also starring Jack Nicholson, was released at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL in 1969.
