Her father was born in Tebnine, Lebanon, and came to the U.S. as a small child. Her mother, whose family is from California and Arkansas, has English, Irish, Welsh, and German ancestry.
An aunt became her legal guardian until she turned 18 after having been
denied legal emancipation.
She was discovered singing country music at age 11 or 12 on a country
music show by producer George Tobin, who became her manager.
