The original "Time Bandits" was likely a pivotal movie for many of our readers growing up, as it helped bring the wackiness and chaos of Terry Gilliam movies to younger audiences. I know that it was certainly my introduction to the director. Now, a brand new generation will be able to experience "Time Bandits" thanks to Taika Waititi.
Apple TV+ has officially greenlit its long-gestating remake of the film for the streamer. While it wasn't formally announced beforehand, the series has already accrued a stacked cast that will reimagine the characters we became familiar with in the film. Kal-El Tuck will portray Kevin, an "eleven-year-old history nerd," according to Apple TV+, that meets a band of thieves and travels with them throughout time and space. Kiera Thompson will play a character named Saffron, who will likely be Kevin's sister.

"An absurdist chuckle-fest." Samuel Goldwyn Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie comedy from Denmark titled Wild Men, which is finally getting a US release this June. It first premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, and also stopped by the Neuchâtel and Fantasia Film Festivals. In a desperate attempt to cure his midlife crisis, Martin has fled his family to live high up in the Norwegian mountains. Hunting and gathering like his ancestors did thousands of years ago, living in the wild. But surprise, surprise, Martin's quest for manhood leads to deep and hilariously uncomfortable realizations about the presumed masculine ideal. Rasmus Bjerg stars as Martin, with an extra manly cast including Zaki Youssef, Bjørn Sundquist, Marco Ilsø, Jonas Bergen Rahmanzadeh, Håkon T. Nielsen, Tommy Karlsen, Rune Temte, and Sofie Gråbøl. This looks like a Taika Waititi comedy but from Scandinavia, with a hilarious cast of characters and so many wacky scenes.

Carol Danvers, known by her Kree name as Vers, is a member, as are Djimon Hounsou’s Korath, Algenis Perez Soto’s Att-Lass, Rune Temte’s Bron-Char, and the mysterious team leader Yon-Rogg played by Jude Law.
The seasoned fighter Minn-Erva made it clear that she was no great fan of Vers, whose true identity was a secret even to Captain Marvel herself. Minn-Erva was in on the secret of Carol's origins and yet never told a soul, a loyal Kree fighter to the very end when her ship exploded in a canyon as she tried to take out Nick Fury and a...

The hotly anticipated Captain Marvel, starring Academy Award winner Brie Larson in the titular role and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, finally hits cinema screens on the hot heels of Avengers: Infinity War. Taking place during the early nineties, Marvel’s latest finds the eponymous character on strange planet B-53 also known as Earth while she reluctantly tries to investigate her own life, lived through fleeting past memories while an impending invasion of Earth by the Skrulls begins its foundations.
Captain Marvel is undoubtedly a film that gets better and better as it unfolds. The opening first act is – quite frankly – a little bit of a mess.

For all of the ways that Marvel and specifically their Marvel Cinematic Universe have led the way with superhero filmmaking, they’ve fallen short with diversity and representation. That goes for both in front of and behind the camera. That began to change last year with Black Panther and continues this week with the release of Captain Marvel. Lo and behold, both cases, in depicting heroes who don’t look like all the others, end up becoming top tier McU efforts. This movie is exciting, funny, unique and weird, all in equal measure. Furthermore, it’s inspirational. This is one of 2019’s very best releases so far. The film is an origin story for the McU’s newest and most powerful hero. It’s also a period piece, set in the 1990s. When we meet Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), she’s already an intergalactic warrior, fighting with the Kree in...

Marvel Studios presents “Captain Marvel,” an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that introduces the McU’s first stand-alone, female-franchise title character—Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” sidesteps the traditional originstory template, with Carol Danvers already possessing her superhero powers. Leaving her earthly life behind, she joins an intergalactic elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by their enigmatic commander, Yon-Rogg. But after Danvers has trained and worked with the Starforce team, and become a valued member, she finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. While on Earth she quickly lands on the radar of Nick Fury, and they must work together against a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls—the notorious Marvel bad guys made even more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities—and their leader, Talos, who is...

Brie Larson received some hard piece of advice from friend Jennifer Lawrence.
The Captain Marvel star, 29, spoke to InStyle about finding herself vulnerable after winning the Best Actress Oscar for Room.
Larson said she called Lawrence, 28, for advice on how to deal with the acclaim and attention. (Lawrence won the Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.)
“I was like, ‘I don’t feel any different. I don’t feel better about myself. I still don’t feel like I’m a good actress,’” Larson recalled. “She was like, ‘Oh, yeah. That’s totally normal. I’ve had the same thing.

With barely more than a month and a week to go until the release of Captain Marvel, another batch of photos has been released online that teases an array of faces old and new from Carol Danvers’ big screen debut.
First up is a pic of Carol herself opposite her friend and Air Force comrade Maria Rambeau, played by Lashana Lynch. Maria is thought be a significant addition to the Marvel saga, not just for her connections to Captain Marvel but also because her daughter Monica is believed to have a heroic future of her own ahead of her. Of course, the new set of images also includes a Carol solo picture, displaying the McU’s most powerful hero in her classic red and blue costume.

Here’s a collection of new photos from Captain Marvel that give us a better look at the noble warrior heroes that make up the Kree Starforce team.
The images come from Empire. They feature Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan), Bron-Char (Rune Temte), and then, of course, there’s Jude Law’s character. It’’ll be fun to see these characters in action, and I’m curious to see how some of the lesser known characters will fit into the story.
Check out the photos below thanks to Captain Marvel News:
The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Annette Bening in a mystery role, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Clarke Gregg as Agent Coulson, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Goose the cat.

Captain Marvel gets the spotlight in the latest issue of Empire, which offers a new look at some of the extraterrestrial figures that Carol Danvers will be crossing paths with in her McU debut.
Carol herself can be seen on the front cover looking ready for battle, while two of Brie Larson’s supporting players stand behind her. On her right, you’ve got Jude Law as a character whose identity has remained tellingly undisclosed, though much of the internet seems in agreement by now that he’ll be playing Yon-Rogg. Whatever his name is, you can see him in one of Empire’s new stills fighting alongside fellow Starforce member Bron-Char, played by Rune Temte. Also on the cover is Skrull leader Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who shows up in one of the new stills accompanied by another member of his shape-shifting species.

When Fury asks for proof that Danvers herself is not a Skrull, she responds by destroying the jukebox with a photon blast, something Skrulls cannot do (so she says anyway). We also see a sample of the Starforce in action, along with a training session between Danvers and her Kree mentor played by Jude Law. We also see a sample of the Starforce in action, along with a training session between Danvers and her Kree mentor played by Jude Law. There's also a quick shot of a visibly younger Phil Coulson talking with Fury about Carol. The rest of the footage is mostly what we've seen...

Fresh off the ’90s superHERo awesomeness of the new Captain Marvel trailer, Brie Larson flew into Brazil’s Comic Con Experience (Ccxp) in Sao Paulo to talk about the forthcoming Marvel Studios film.
Larson participated in a panel and also shared footage and an extended trailer from the comic book flick with the packed audience. But if you’re looking for that footage, you probably not going to find it because it was exclusive to Ccxp.
However, the Academy Award-winning actress tweeted a video of the crowd which was massive. “Look at these gorgeous humans feeling all the feels with me after watching exclusive footage from #CaptainMarvel,” she wrote.
In addition, Marvel Studios tweeted out a new Captain Marvel poster which is exclusive to Ccxp. It features Larson in full Captain Marvel regalia and gives off some serious comic book HERo vibes.

Marvel is definitely setting up for the hype for the upcoming film “Captain Marvel”, as they have just unleashed the second trailer which focuses on the adventures of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel set in the early nineties way before the events that took place in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
Captain Marvel will don her Kree warrior suit after landing on Earth as the battle rages on with the Skrull, a group of shape-shifting aliens who can pass themselves off as human beings. We see Captain Marvel coming up against Nick Fury and the trailer even gives us a small Easter egg, as Fury is seen wearing the same device that he uses to call Danvers just before he fades to dust particles in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
“Captain Marvel” is co-written and co-directed by Anna Broden and Ryan Fleck, and stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou,...

The cosmic ambitions of Captain Marvel are front-and-center in the new trailer, which premiered at halftime of ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles.
Captain Marvel, the 21st film from Marvel Studios, reaches theaters on March 8. The film stars Brie Larson as the title character, who has been described as the single most powerful hero in Marvel’s interlocking screen mythology, which includes Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther.
In the pages of Marvel Comics the hero called Captain Marvel dates back to Marvel Super-Heroes No. 12, cover-dated December 1967. That character, a brainchild of the late Stan Lee, was introduced as a male warrior of the alien Kree race whose birth-name, Mar-Vell, was mispronounced by Earthlings leading to his similar-sounding superhero moniker.
Mar-Vell was originally dispatched to Earth to assess the planet’s threat potential and strategic value.
