Though Body of Proof was cancelled a couple weeks ago, there is some good news for fans of the ABC series. The series finale, which airs tonight at 10pm, will offer some closure to the show.
Speaking to TV Guide, star Dana Delany shared, "It's a very satisfying ending... We do solve the mystery of the death of Megan's father and she finally comes to terms with her feelings for Tommy Sullivan (Mark Valley). And I really, really liked it a lot... I think that the viewers are going to be happy."
Delany also noted that the third season ends so well that the cast and crew weren't sure what a fourth year would have held.

Body of Proof returned after a long hiatus this week - and "Abducted - Part 1" had me bracing for a wild ride as the pace picked up and the new characters popped.
As sad as I was to hear that Peter had died from his injuries and Sam and Bud had moved on from the Philadelphia Police, Mark Valley did a great job of helping me get over my grief.
Detective Tommy Sullivan was smart, challenging, cocky and a bit of an abrasive ass... which make him a perfect love interest for Dr. Megan Hunt. Supposedly these two had quite the tumultuous history 20 years ago and it sent Megan heading to Philly to start over.
You know their relationship must have been hot when Megan's still angry and the sparks still fly between them two decades later. Plus, it's great to see someone who Megan can't control or intimidate, as...

ABC's crime drama, "Body of Proof," is ready to return for Season 3 after an extended hiatus. During that time, however, several changes were made to the show. What has changed in the season premiere? What remains the same? Find out here.

Even with a midseason return and a shorter run this time, Dana Delany is happy her latest series still has life.
It actually can be considered a new life, since the ABC medical mystery "Body of Proof" will reflect significant changes as its third season starts Tuesday, Feb. 19. Delany's Dr. Megan Hunt will be without several colleagues who were present from the show's start: Peter Dunlop (Nicholas Bishop), her investigator, who was stabbed by an enemy of Megan's in the Season 2 finale, and homicide detectives Bud Morris and Samantha Baker (John Carroll Lynch, Sonja Sohn).
Police work will remain a factor in "Body of Proof," though ... a bigger factor, in fact, given the main cast addition. Mark Valley ("Human Target," "Boston Legal") worked previously with Delany on the short-lived Fox serial "Pasadena," and their reunion makes him Tommy Sullivan, an investigator with whom Megan has a personal past -- a...

When Body of Proof Season 3 premieres on February 5, viewers will be in for change. A lot of change.
John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn are all out. Elyes Gabel is in as a cocky detective and Mark Valley as a man from Megan Hunt's past.
Why the shake-up?
Because ratings increased for the serial-killer based storyline that concluded Body of Proof Season 2, executive producer Matthew Gross said yesterday at the Television Critics Association press tour:
"We decided to continue that momentum to make stories that are more thrilling and have more stakes. We wanted to inject more octane in the show."
Along those lines, look for Megan and the team to not only solve murders, but actually set out to prevent the crimes.
"We open the season with a two-parter that's part thriller that I think we're very proud of," said producer Evan Katz. "There's some thriller aspect to it.

After its somewhat surprising renewal for a third season, "Body of Proof" underwent many changes. Several cast members have left and have been replaced by new actors in new roles. The format of the show promises more action and changes for many of the existing characters, including medical examiner Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) herself.
What exactly will change? The cast and producers gave some clues to reporters at the TCA winter press tour.
Mark Valley and Elyes Gabel have joined the cast as police detectives. Valley's character, Detective Tommy Sullivan, in particular, will be important on the show -- at some point in the past, Tommy and Megan had a romantic relationship. Their tension will be important to the new season. What is Tommy Sullivan's purpose, other than being a potential love interest? "We wanted to create a character that would stand up to her," executive producer Matthew Gross said.

Things are about to get a tad tougher for Megan (Dana Delany) on Body of Proof when it returns for its third season next year, as if things weren’t already as difficult as they could possibly get. She’s a television character in a drama. By the very definition, her life needs to be dramatic. If obstacle after obstacle isn’t thrown in her way then there really isn’t any point in us sitting on the couch – or reclining chair if that’s your preference – and watching her life. The latest obstacle for Megan comes in the form of a very familiar Saving Grace actress: Lorraine Toussaint.
We can expect Toussaint to be hanging around for at least a couple of episodes according to the Hollywood Reporter. Her multi-episode role will put her in the shoes of Angela Martin, the police chief who will go up against Megan...

Body of Proof has shaken up its Season 3 cast and this is the result:
As previously announced, Mark Valley is expected to join the ABC drama as Tommy Sullivan, an ex-boyfriend of Dana Delany's Megan Hunt who returns to spice up both her personal and professional life.
And now, TV Line confirms, Elyes Gabel has signed on as a young and cocky detective named Adam Schaeffer.
Earlier this summer, Nicholas Bishop, John Carroll Lynch and Sonja Sohn were let all let go by the series, as it looks to freshen up its cast and storytelling.
Gabel has appeared on The Borgias and also as a loyal follower of Daenerys on Game of Thrones. Until his character's untimely, gruesome death, that is.

Body of Proof will return in early 2013 for Season 3, but the folks surrounding Dana Delany's Megan Hunt won't be very familiar to long-time viewers.
Last month, the ABC drama revealed a major cast shakeup, with John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn all departing and producers announcing plans to restock the series with new characters.

The former Human Target and Harry's Law star is nearing a deal to become a Body of Proof series regular, according to TV Line. He will likely come on board as Detective Tommy Sullivan, a former love interest for Megan who transfers to Philadelphia and aims to win her back.
Look for flirting and case-solving to ensue between the pair as a result.

Dana Delany is reuniting with her Pasadena co-star Mark Valley on her latest series, Body Of Proof. Valley is in final negotiations to join the ABC medical drama as a new regular. The former Human Target star will play Det. Tommy Sullivan, a sexy former NYPD detective who has transferred to Philadelphia to try to rekindle his relationship with Megan Hunt (Delany). They broke up twenty years ago because he cheated on her. Tommy is one of two new regular roles that Body of Proof is adding in the wake of the departure of three regulars whose options were not picked up in May: Nicholas Bishop, John Carroll Lynch and Sonja Sohn. Valley, repped by Wme and Untitled, most recently co-starred on NBC’s Harry’s Law.

"Body of Proof" fans successfully campaigned for ABC to renew the show for Season 3 -- but when it returns as a mid-season replacement at some point during the 2012-2013 television season, it's going to be a very different show.
As previously reported, three of the "Body of Proof" lead actors have been ousted. John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn will not be returning for the third season, meaning that the majority of the detective power we're familiar with will be M.I.A. from the Philadelphia Homicide Division.
